I enjoy hearing a conversation between two photographers about woodland photography. I do a little bit of woodland photography for my own enjoyment. But I am also a follower of other photographers. Thank you for sharing this video.
I visited the exhibition on Sunday and it was great to see the images I have admired online in print and up close. Extra bonuses were discovering a lovely birch woodland on the walk there and unexpectedly stumbling in on your talk (which I had to sneak out of early in the interests of marital harmony!).
"Anticipation" convincingly shows the great value of local photography: knowing your environment through careful observation, returning to specific places, and "anticipating" the shot when the conditions are optimal. Magnificent photograph, which could only be created by someone who truly cares about his environment (and not only about the shot).
Great exhibition. I enjoyed the tour and talk, yesterday. Driving through the North York Moors on a drizzly, misty day - to and from the exhibition - I can thoroughly see why it is such a great source of locations and inspiration.
I love the story behind "Anticipation", it describes how I feel at the moment about figuring out what's next for me in life. Pictures can be so touching!
What a treat to listen to such an intelligent pair of photographers. So many photographers on You Tube treat their photography like a joke and seem to be putting on a comedy show rather than taking meaningful photographs. Great video!
Hi Simon, thank you for putting on these kinds of videos. As a very amateur aspiring photographer it is so helpful and inspirational to hear these in depth thought processes of making a photo. So much landscape photography seems like varying degrees of big postcard type scenes. Your and Joe's approach is so much deeper and artful in staging a scene and understanding the relationship of subjects and emotion. As a landscape architect and horticulturist I also really appreciate you aiming to understand and communicate the ecology of the woodlands you shoot in as well beyond just aesthetic features.
I am amazed and fascinated listening to your discussion . Ah, did I mentioned the photographs, pure art ! Bravo, Joe and Simon for your magnificent work. So lucky I found you, and I've been able to follow you so far. Thank You, for sharing, indeed.
Simon, having had a guided walk today I was blown away by this body of work, it was great to meet you both and get a real insight into your thinking behind these images, superb !!
Hi Simon. Such an inspiring body of work on display here. It's fascinating to hear the insights of two hugely respected photographers and be able to absorb the knowledge imparted here. Was going to give the forest a miss this week due to the awful weather forecast, but I've changed my mind after watching this ! Thank you for sharing.
An absolute pleasure to listen to you both, a privilege to experience the exhibition. A transformative weekend, one I will not forget. Stay well, take care, sithee!
Thank you very much. The book has arrived and is beautiful but above all it pushes me to make of my best to come just a little more closer your masterpieces and for me ( especially in this moment) is very important,Thank you again for all.
I can't explain how much it means to hear each of you discuss your photos and then to be able to go to the wonderfully collaborated photo book of your and Joe's photos. Very inspirational and I'll be keeping a link to this video series so that I may review them and the book at times. Great job by the both of you.
Loving this “Inside the mind…” series. Really insightful. I’m also very inspired by your presentation style in the gallery. Love your choice of not using glass, and those frames are doing an excellent job of getting out of the way of the images. 🥂 to you and Joe for a great exhibition, thx for sharing on your channel.
A really interesting conversation between you and Joe. These kinds of conversations are so helpful to really understand what makes the images so appealing. I managed to visit the exhibition twice and take a long look at the prints that were so beautifully presented. Well done to you both in putting together something very special.
Just got the book from the exhibition. An absolute masterpiece! Unfortunately I couldn’t visit the exhibition, but its interesting watch the video and to hear these competent and creative photographers discussing their images.
Very interesting and informative. Perhaps if you do another video, you could explain how you decide on the size of the displayed image…very large, medium or small? Thank you.
Beautiful show, Simon. Loved that framing and the fact that you didn't use glass. Also, I appreciated the large sizes and the different aspect ratios of the prints. A show like that must have been very expensive and time consuming to put together. Well done and thank you for sharing. :)
Another fantastic video. The exhibition was beautiful both in your combined images and presentation. Really like no glass! Would this work in the long term on a wall? Can you tell me which Galen Rowells book Joe was referring too would like to read it. An amazing exhibition of the enchantment of woods and their therapeutic affects.
Really interesting to hear these discussions & looking forward to the others. Loved the exhibition, loving the book: both are inspirational. Are there plans to take the exhibition on tour so that people who couldn’t get to Danby could enjoy it?
Thank you for a lovely video, and all the work you put in. Such an inspiring piece, every time I watch these it makes me look at my gear and want to head straight out! I wonder what big project is coming next! Best wishes and good luck with the scouting woodlands! :)
Very enjoyable discussion of the works on show, but must we include the gear talk? Just kidding, I value both your comments on why and how these images work successfully.
Stimulating exchange, these gentlemen are a blessing to photography.

I love the insights you both give. Two fine photographers and minds
The difference in styles is amazing 📷👍
Incredible pictures that look like paintings. Hopefully I get some some good stuff in the new forest next month
Many thanks, Chris. Best of luck in the New Forest!

So pleased to hear you enjoyed it, Peter. Thank you!
This is the kind of instructive talk that is missing from most RUclips posting about photography. Looking forward to more. Thank you both!
Many thanks, Robert 😊

Wonder insights.
All very impressive, thank you for sharing, which is so fortunate for those of us who can't get to North Yorkshire! (speaking from Wiltshire)
Many thanks, Peter!

Thank you very much, Clifton! Yes, it took a lot of work and money but it's been well worth it as you can't put a price on the personal reward :-)
@@SimonBaxterPhotography Plus the excitement of the opening reception. Nothing else like it.
