Love Brian Tichy! Saw him with Billy Idol on the “Devil’s Playground” tour (an album which he largely cowrote with Billy) and he was just fantastic. My wife snagged one of his drumsticks which still has a place of honor in my studio. So cool to see this.
Brain absolutely blew my mind with his drumming on Zakk Wylde's "Pride & Glory" album. Huge influence on me and it still holds up today - chops for days all over that album! Thanks for this Sweetwater!
Brian is a huge influence on me as a drummer. His playing on Pride n Glory's album was incredibly original. I love that he is playing acrylic drums live in because that's what I use, and it justifies my thinking on what works best live!
this is great..I am becoming a great fan of Mr. Tichy's but I have never seen a ride cymbal wing nut upside down..that's cool..he is also living the drummer life right now, jamming with everybody it seems, that I wish I could physically do...keep rockin Brian
Brian is just monster drummer (and monster guitar player) and obviously a super cool and super nice guy. I get inspired every time I see him play or hear him talk about drums.
I acquired the ddrum Dios maple kit that was being made for Brian while he was in Whitesnake, same Bonham sizes. He went to Natal before the kit was delivered. It's a beautiful silver sparkle finish and the bass drum has 2 XLR jacks built in and a SHU mount inside. I also use a 6.5 x14" Supraphonic and Zildjian A Custom Rezo cymbals. Helluva kit.
This man is a fantastic teacher and person!!!!!!! Also fantastic drummer as well as guitar player!!!! If anyone wants to take Skype? He's accepting students!!!!! You won't be disappointed!!! Thanks fpr making me a better player brian
Notice the cotton balls in the floor toms and the rolled up towel wedged between the kick pedal and head. A little control must have been needed for micing purposes.
Hi, do I see correctly that there are some cloths inside floor toms. Also there's some cloth on bass drum pedal side? Am I right. I have some problems controlling the bounce (specially on faster playing) on closed bass drum without muffling and was wondering if I should be using some muffling on batter side at least?
I use a 14x26 and use a small amount of muffling on the batter head for this reason. I use the Evans EQ muffler with just a little touching the head. It is hinged so it bounces off the head when hit then rests back onto the head helping control the buzzing and vibration.
SUPERB drummer, soooo underrated. His work on Pride & Glory + Whitesnakes Forevermore is legendary, but i truly wished he could stop focusing on aaaalways playing/talking/sounding like Bonzo. Your drumming, Brian, has its own character. Work with that, instead. Please. The Bonzo-thing minimizes your own, original, drumming.
This is off topic, but this video's closed captioning is in Korean for me. Would anyone know why? And how to fix this without just auto-translating to English, because that becomes complete gibberish. I'm smack dab in the middle of the U.S., so it should be English captions. This happens occasionally and it's always Korean or Russian when it does.
Brian has ascended to the 'new Top 10 Rock Drummers' out there. Just stupid good...

"A Horse Called War", & "Toe'n The Line", are my favorite songs in EVERY way, from that album! Groove, chops, intensity...all there!
Always entertaining to watch brian play and twirl sticks and playing at the same time so killer an a inspiration .
Brian Tichy is one of the best rock drummers out there today. His Bonham stuff is just great how he really makes it sing !
His take on the large unmuffled no front head port bass drum is spot on in my opinion as well. Greatest bass drum sound ever!

Great guitarist as well !!!
It’s insane how almost everyone points out how amazing and impressed they are with the Sweet water facilities.
New goal added to the bucket list.

I watched all 15mins expecting to hear him play. I was a little disappointed when the video ended without hearing any drums at all. Hahaha 😂🤣🤨
Tichy is top notch!!
He is amazing!
Saw Brian back in 1999 with his band Ball opening for Candlebox...they blew candlebox outta the water.
Great drummer first heard you on the Pride & Glory CD
I could listen to both these dudes narrate the numbers in a phone book and I'd still be enthralled
Oustanding!
