Every day, hundreds of thousands of dogs and cats are put down humanely, in this same way that these horses are put down, for much the same reasons, their medical conditions cannot be fixed by human hands, and they are in too much pain. I do not understand why it is so hard for some people to translate that, be it a cat, a dog, or a horse.... a painless death is the least we can do for our fellow creatures when we are not able to do anything else to help. I am an energy healer, and recently even that could not help my senior dog with his pain. It was just too much. And so we made the choice to end his suffering, and the vet helped him cross rainbow bridge. Every creature great or small, deserves to live a life of dignity and without fear or pain. Cheers to those willing to do the work and fix the problems, no matter what that cost is. Thank you.
Very, very, very upsetting to see the terrible condition of so many horses... It's unconscionable how these wonderful, sentient creatures who work so hard for us are cast aside and treated like rubbish 😔😔😔
Tawnee……I know you guys have been bullied because of the last act of kindness…I am so sorry to hear this. I want to THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU CAN DO, to relieve their pain/discomfort/& misery.
What a heartbreaking auction this month. I'm so sorry you were faced with the end of suffering for all those poor, neglected horses. My heart especially broke for the young one with the embedded halter deformity. Tennessee really needs animal cruelty laws. The conditions of those horses are unacceptable! Thank you for being there for them when they needed it most. May they rest in peace. 🌈🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎
I’m originally from near Jackson Tennessee. Absolutely ridiculous this state can’t get their political act together to outlaw these dang big lick horse events! Those combined with notoriously lax or non existent laws for horse auctions and no accountability from owners, kill buyers for being allowed to keep dragging these poor horses around in such horrific conditions and the auction owners just making a buck - makes Tennessee look like even more of a redneck, good old boy, low intelligence, state. Absolutely disgusting to see. Being gone from there 43 years and working volunteering in rescue work in other states - some better some as bad or worse - sad. Just sad! To keep seeing what humans are capable of! Thank you Horse Plus!
I'm proud do be a donor. Ever since I saw what I believe was a auction transport here in Texas, I have been aware of this issue. It was so disturbing seeing the condition of the horses in that trailer, I've never forgotten it. Thank you for the opportunity to help them.
I think that was the one of the hardest or the hardest auction episode I have watched , lots of tissues used and plenty of tears. You guys do such an amazing job . Thank you for all that you do!! Dr Nancy you was amazing with these horses as always really hope this wasn’t your last auction you are gonna be so missed!! X
It’s a crying shame how owners could let their horses suffer in the hopes of making an extra few bucks. You guys are angels to these beautiful animals.
Wow, this one was tough! I don't know how you guys do it You are some tough people who have a job and do it no matter what comes your way! Thank you for the great job that you do!
This is the worst yet. There’s no excuse for owners to do this when you will buy these horses from the owners. To those that think Horse Plus should try and save these horses, understand that many of them are already dying. They can’t be saved. All things eventually die but they shouldn’t have to suffer. Horse Plus is there for these precious beings. What about all the other auctions? Who saves them? Hurray for the mentor programs ❤
There are different rescue groups all over, that rescue what they can. Thing is, their all bidding against what's called kill buyers that buy for human consumption. Those buyers can pay higher prices, so they buy the healthy ones, plus the ones rescue groups would not survive the trip to slaughter, not all are that bad, but some are. The horses going to slaughter usually go either Mexico, or Canada.
Plus, horses severely under weight, would cost more, and take longer to get to slaughter weight. So Feedlot that take slaughter bound horses, don't usually want to take the time, plus injuries, not wanting to help those, cost wise.
@@dianekruger5977 the slaughter buyers will take anything. Weight doesn't matter. Have you EVER seen a Canadian feedlot? A Mexican slaughterhouse? Weight DOES NOT matter. Fatter ones go overseas, BC 1-3 go to grinder for feed mix for other animals and "products". It's a damn cruel world and most humans suk when it comes to animal care.
I wanted to write this too, what a sweet couple, Blossom is so cute and the adopter also seems to be a great guy. I hope that they can spend many wonderful years together. Love from Germany.
I really hope prince his leg gets better and it heals. He’s a very beautiful horse with a very sweet disposition and he will make some family or child a wonderful horse. All of you guys keep on keep up all the great work at the rescue and Dr. Nancy thank you for taking care of all those sweet horses.
I hope all the participants in your rescues have access to psych support. You deserve help to stay healthy and keep on doing rescues. Brave hearts and healthy souls. The horses feel tender hands, loving voices, food and water in abundance as well as sunshine and the company of other easy tempered horses. Having put down many old dogs and cats and helping a neighbor put down her 34 yr old horse I know the tenderness we were able to show our animals at the end to make passing easy for them. It hurts me years later so I know you all carry that hurt. You really are heros'. God bless and help you.
I like Dr Mary Ellen, she is very kind to the horses and has a soothing voice. I'm so sorry the auction was hard on everyone. I don't know how y'all do it month after month, year after year.
I love Mary Ellen. She has such a good head on her shoulders, a beautiful attitude. I would love to know her personally, I would have much to learn from her. Nothing seems to put her off her rhythm. Her feedback on first auction was focused on how the team pulled together to do good when needed, and how she loved seeing the horses relax ❤❤❤
Wow wow wow, So painful to watch. Very Sad that some people see these beautiful creatures as objects rather than living, breathing, beings that depend on us for EVERYTHING. Many thanks and Bless your Heats, Heart Plus! 👏❤👏❤
Oh my gosh that little orange tabby really had the most overdramatic reaction to the injection! I think Dr. Mary Ellen did so well because that auction was the definition of a trial by fire and she kept herself going and working the whole way through. I love little Steve, he's so adorable and I'm glad he's guaranteed a good home with Caitlyn and Kory once his time in quarantine is up
Hi again TAWNEE Compassion and love beyond for those from this really tough auction. Without you their suffering continues until a horrific amount of suffering ends it all. Brave and dedicated are you all and heartfelt thank yous for helping the ones you can to give them a second chance in life in forever homes. Take tender care of yourselves and have peace that you always do the best for the horses no matter... God bless
I absolutely love the new vet that is having a working interview. My word, she has the most beautiful empathic soul. I really hope she gets the job, she’s wonderful.🙏🏻❤️
I agree One can learn what you need but the fruit comes from good character. It's hard to believe that her first time an auction it's the hardest one so far and she just handled it! She did what she had to do and she did it with Grace.
So depressing how others treat their horses. Thank you for being there especially for those dozen+ sad souls who needed the last act of kindness immediately.
Dr. Mary Ellen, I am thankful for you. You're the Bees Knees! I know you are a kind & compassionate Dr. A TOTAL BLESSING. Hopefully we will see you a lot more! Dr. Nancy, ❤ you. ❤ YOU. So tell me please, how are the humans that starved & abused these animals not brought up on charges? Is that not animal abuse? Or am I just crazy?
Excellent video! Welcome to the team Dr. Mary Ellen. I think you'll do just fine here. You have a great bedside manner with the animals! Prayers for emotional healing for everyone who worked the auction. It was an extremely tough one for HPHS. Much ❤️ and respect from Michigan 🌊
As much as I cry for the horses that got so critical, I'm so grateful they are at peace and out of pain. As hard as it is to say goodbye, it's easier than seeing them continue to suffer. ❤
I have no words, just tears. To see the condition of some of those horses is just heartbreaking 💔. It blows my mind how ruthless some people can be. On another note, I like Dr. Mary Ellen, I think she would fit in nicely at Horse Plus ☺️
I sit here shaking my head trying to understand why people would allow their animals to get in this condition. I thank God for the heart of Horse Plus to continue to do the right things even though it causes a heavy emotional toll. I thank each and everyone who participates in their care.
I think all those owners who think the big lick isn't abuse should be made to run around a track with a heavy weight on their back, but hunched over so they can't fully straighten their legs. And of course they should have a caustic chemical applied to the back of their ankle, and a chain strapped around it. Add weighted platform shoes and they might get some idea of what they are putting their horses through! Everyone who has owned or trained these horses, or supported the big lick, should have to pay the vet bills for the horses they discard into the slaughter pipeline. I know that's an impossible dream. I just hope the big lick is outlawed soon!
What I cannot understand is that a horse owner would knowingly put their horse into such training for “Big Lick “ shows. How can you even consider yourself humane when you would subject an animal to abuse for the sake of money or trophies ? People need to be made aware of this abuse and the State of Tennessee needs to ban Big Lick shows statewide!
Your Work is just amazing…and heartbreaking 💔 So good that the critical ones don’t have to suffer anymore even if it is sad that the last thing they saw in their live is a freaking auction Barn…😢Thank you to all for being a light in the darkness….❤❤❤
It's overwhelming to realize (truly let it sink in) how so many cruel humans treat these magnificent creations. One cannot but cry. Dr Mary Ellen has a sweet reassuring way of talking to the animals. She is a tender soothing spirit. No matter her path decision, she is a blessing to all in need of help. Dr Nancy, you were always a strong hold that could be & was counted on. A wealth of knowledge for sure. You gave all the animals your utmost care with "golden" hands. I'll miss seeing you. I give you a H.U.G. (Heavens Ultimate Gift) as you continue on your journey. Thank you, all of you, for the freedom you gave these horses.
I am so thankful I don't understand what is wrong with people who could just have an animal they aren't going to take care of then sell it off like it's nothing. I can't begin to comprehend what's missing from these people. Yall do good work. It's hard to stomach, but thank God for people like you.
The caregivers attitude really matters. They hear you. They can empower their body as can a human, by believing. Sweetly say positive words and keep the negatives silent. If you don't believe me, try it .
Euthanasia translates to "a good death", which is what you gave for those horses suffering beyond recover. You give all the horses you euthanize the death they deserve, not in the slaughter pipeline. It's very hard, but the silver lining is they got love and dignity in their last hours. Thank you.

I agree. Behind the times and barbaric. You should not have to have LAWS for common sense.!!!!
How can castrating an animal be legal. You go to college for years for a f reason!!!!!
I'm proud do be a donor. Ever since I saw what I believe was a auction transport here in Texas, I have been aware of this issue. It was so disturbing seeing the condition of the horses in that trailer, I've never forgotten it. Thank you for the opportunity to help them.
Jesus said, “blessed are the merciful”. This verse speaks of the actions of everyone in this video.
The surrendered kitties on the perches in the bird cage! Not funny, but so funny!! 🤣 Yes, thank you for fixing that, Tawnee. ❤️❤️❤️
I love Jason’s shirt…Bigfoot saw me, nobody believes him. The Lord: “ Same here.”
Good to see Roxy with Outlaw Equine Rescue.
Wow, this one was tough! I don't know how you guys do it You are some tough people who have a job and do it no matter what comes your way! Thank you for the great job that you do!
Thank you for all that ya'll do. I too am trying to rescue, as I can. Singular middle aged woman can still rock it. Never give up!
I almost died😂😂 “devoid of his testicles” Dr Nancy you are Awesomeness
thank you for helping those horses. that baby broke my heart. he was so pretty and could have been a good horse.
Okay,-- I LOVE, LOVE the guy who adopted the beautiful paint mare!!!!!!!!
She Loved Him Too!!!
Awesome, Amazing, Etc. ❤️😊❤️😊❤️😊
I wanted to write this too, what a sweet couple, Blossom is so cute and the adopter also seems to be a great guy. I hope that they can spend many wonderful years together. Love from Germany.
👍🏽
Blossoms new dad is a great example of what good adoptees should be like. 🤩🤩👏👏🐴🇦🇺🇦🇺
I agree blossom already loves him.
Dr Mary Ellen has a great soothing voice for her patients.
Wow! 34 horses !!! Whooo hoooo
The comment "be the soft landing": says it all. Thank you for being there for these beautiful souls.
Thank you Horse Plus, for the rescues
Wow wow wow, So painful to watch. Very Sad that some people see these beautiful creatures as objects rather than living, breathing, beings that depend on us for EVERYTHING. Many thanks and Bless your Heats, Heart Plus! 👏❤👏❤
Sometimes it hurts to watch these videos 😢 I'll always donate but this is hard to watch .
Yes it does!
Thank you all, for your strength making the hard decisions.
I have more respect for you and your group for giving the last act of kindness, not allowing further suffering.
Very Happy for Blossom x She's a gorgeous painted pony x x
Thank you for looking after them
Oh my gosh that little orange tabby really had the most overdramatic reaction to the injection! I think Dr. Mary Ellen did so well because that auction was the definition of a trial by fire and she kept herself going and working the whole way through. I love little Steve, he's so adorable and I'm glad he's guaranteed a good home with Caitlyn and Kory once his time in quarantine is up
Hi again TAWNEE
Compassion and love beyond for those from this really tough auction.
I agree
One can learn what you need but the fruit comes from good character.
It's hard to believe that her first time an auction it's the hardest one so far and she just handled it!
She did what she had to do and she did it with Grace.
So depressing how others treat their horses. Thank you for being there especially for those dozen+ sad souls who needed the last act of kindness immediately.
Bless everyone from the three rescue organizations that helped rescue the horses.
❤
Tawnee has always been freakin gorgeous to me ❤
Dr. Mary Ellen-- what a kind soul
Each and every one of you truly Are HEROS! ❤❤❤
👍🏽
I have no words, just tears. To see the condition of some of those horses is just heartbreaking 💔. It blows my mind how ruthless some people can be. On another note, I like Dr. Mary Ellen, I think she would fit in nicely at Horse Plus ☺️
Dr. Mary Ellen has a sweetness in her energy.
Wow, super rescue. A big THANK YOU for all that your team does to provide a second chance to these magnificent animals.
I sit here shaking my head trying to understand why people would allow their animals to get in this condition. I thank God for the heart of Horse Plus to continue to do the right things even though it causes a heavy emotional toll. I thank each and everyone who participates in their care.
Big lick needs to be banned, and laws, including fines and jail time, should be implemented and enforced to the max.
I agree!! Appalling cruelty for nothing!!😢😢😢it has to stop!!!!😡
It should!!!! 😭💗💗 couldn’t agree more with you it’s animal abuse plain and simple.

Blossom has found a lovely home
The best experience is, hands on experience, she's right , send a few there on rotation from vet school. They'll learn fast, believe me!
👍🏽
love the new vet, she has a sense of humor, and i learned alot from her.
Welcome Mary Ellen.
My heart is crushed. My ultimate dream is to share my life with a horse and so many people throw these amazing animals away. Horrific! 😭
Thanks for all you do ❤
Nice to meet you Dr. Mary Ellen, excited to watch you heal and love on all the creatures…
JASON your science makes me twitchy. 😊
39:47 the smallest but loudest 👍🏻🫏🌷
I am so thankful I don't understand what is wrong with people who could just have an animal they aren't going to take care of then sell it off like it's nothing. I can't begin to comprehend what's missing from these people. Yall do good work. It's hard to stomach, but thank God for people like you.
The caregivers attitude really matters. They hear you. They can empower their body as can a human, by believing. Sweetly say positive words and keep the negatives silent. If you don't believe me, try it .
I'm glad Outlaw got that little foal. I hope it has a fighting chance to grow up fat and sassy. ❤
