    They won’t even let us in the hallways. Got kicked out last spring. It’s terrible bc our gym floor is really slippery so it dangerous to try max speed. I’m gonna show my admin this video to see if it will change their mind! 🤞

    Better to pick one day in the week to do sprint training than get in the weight room when the weather is bad outside!

    Pretty timely. About to walk out the door to coach club track. 45 degrees out. On that note if we are outside, can we try and build up maybe not to 95+% but 90% plus and still have some sort of benefit. Maybe not a sprint stimulus but general fitness and skill acquisition?

    I have sprinted at the track at -30 with the wind and when it snows I sprint on the street up at the lakefront after it's plowed. There is always a way but you do have to dress for it. Sherpa wool helps......................

    its "winter" here in FL, which means I am now in my days of sprinting in 40-65 degree weather. Sure enough , I hit a divot and ankle has not been 100%. I doubt this cold helps it. So vacation starts next week and , although I a=was dreading missing sprints on vacation, I now am looking forward to just walking and letting it rest-and missing sprints so bad that I am eager to get back.=)

      Do anything and everything that you can do… if pain free. It’s called “active recovery”.

      Pretty sure it was Sioux Falls Lincoln HS. And, I don’t think it was turf, I think it was more of a rubberized type flooring.

    We have still have a dirt track and no long hallways. Any suggestions?

      Buy a runway and sprint in the hallways. Sprint in parking lots. Sprint on a dirt track.

    Mr holler what do u think about maasai jumps at home when weather is bad?

      Those are great. We call them pogo jumps. We do a lot of other things too (X-Factor).

    My school only has 38 yards of indoor distance (wall to wall) and I have huge sponge packs on a single side wall. The floor, paved track, is this adequate for speed training in the winter?

    Hey coach,I’m 15 y/oI have a track event coming up in 3 weeks and I’m trying to win the 100m which I run around 12 seconds,which I wanna improve.
    so would it be good if I sprint 3 times a week and every session I do 3-4 reps of max intent sprints for 60-70m?
    I have another plan where I’ll do 2x 20m hill sprints then 2x 30m sprints and 1-2x 60m max velocity sprints.
    Before each of these I have a good warm up for my technique and 1-2 plyos. And for the event I’m gonna try to not touch any weights as I don’t wanna feel sore or “heavy” other than soreness from sprinting.
    Do you prefer I follow the first or second plan. Even if I don’t win this meet it’s not that important but which one is better in the long run.

      First plan but 3 sprints… 40, 50, 60. Ten minutes recovery.

    Sir, when we push down during sprinting, does it create short ground contact and longer flight time, which ultimately feels like flying down the track??

      Correct. Elites GCT is 0.08 sec 1/12 of a sec. But, it’s not a “push”. The leg whips the foot downward and “hits” the ground.

    Coach i am running 100m in 12.9-13s what should I do to run 100m in sub 11s and how much time it will take to run sub11 please tell me what to do and how much time it will take

      Do speed work 2-3 times a week. X-factor twice. Lift after workouts. I have no idea where your genetic ceiling is. Guys that run 12.9 don’t make my sprint team.
