- We review a non-LG Mini LED TV that turned out to carry a Mediatek Pentonic chipset, allowing for 4K 120Hz Dolby Vision gameplay among other benefits.
Our Hisense U8K review sample is the 65-inch version, model number Hisense 65U8KQTUK, but our findings should also apply to the 55-inch 55U8KQTUK which uses a VA-type LCD panel.

lol "Ok, so this is really strange" is the new catchphrase
Bang for the buck, Hisense and TCL are crushing it again this year. However, that Sony X90 series really made a significant comeback this year, and avoided the worst of the infamous Sony Tax (TM), fortunately. All in all, another great year to be a TV/AV enthusiast. There's something for everyone!
X90L is best this year.
@@Q_QQ_Q It’s definitely impressive looking and way better than last year’s model! I was excited to see Sony back in the game on the lower end of their line up, even if it is only one more year.
Excellent analysis. Pondering, whether I should return my Qm8, while I still can, and get the U8k.
@@kurakuson From what I recall during the comparison that FOMO performed, they were pretty much even. The U8K had better handling of low bitrate content, and sometimes it lifted the blacks a little, revealing more details in darker scenes. Both are great sets!
@@ryanbaker7404
Yes, I viewed that comparison by FOMO. I dont think that FOMO"s comparison is as favorable towards the U8k as Vincent's review is. However, last years the 65" S95b has gotten a lot less expensive nowadays and the A9k hasn't; both will clobber the new mid- tier duos.
Mind-blowing collaboration! Mediatek's AI-SR on Hisense smart TVs is a game-changer. Can't wait for the immersive 4K experience.
My reasoning for going for more horizontal zones is so the U8K can better handle the top and bottom black bars. Especially for the 75" ADS panel model. Just a thought Vincent.
is it about the same number of zones as last year's though? because that would be downgrade for most people
@@StevoHDA About twice as many zones at least for the U.S. models.
@@johnb4905 ah yeah thats a big upgrade
And, probably moreso, subtitles. Being wider than they are tall, the longest edge of a subtitle line now has less chance of showing bloom given the resolution of backlights along the relevant axis is higher.
He said quite opposite. Hisense has more greyish black bars
Important facts:
1. In 2023, only Philips TVs, starting with the cheapest ones like the PUS8508, will be based on the Pentonic 1000 processor, and they already are.
2. sony tvs, namely 95%, are based on old mediatek mt5895 processors. Which is 3 years old.
The only exception is the A95L, the flagship TV.
All the others use old processors.
3. Panasonic - all 100% on old chips.
The chip is also less powerful than Sony's or Philips'.
4. All purebred Chinese brands also use Soc Mediatek, but their chips are always
- their chips are always worse than those of Sony or Philips.
- They also use old chips.
The exceptions are the new Chinese models, high-end and some models. But they use Pentonic 700, not 1000.
Those are the facts. The most interesting thing is that in 23 years, only tp vision has managed to make 90% of its TVs on new chips. The rest make them on old ones, which is surprising.
Tp vision?
Goes to show how good panasonic and sony are
Panasonic needs to get on top of this, Pentonic chip will alleviate its issues from banding to near black gradation
Came to say exactly this. How have Panasonic managed, with their late release cycle, to send out the MZ2000 with the old chipset, leaving its flagship hamstrung and suffering from this old problem when both Sony and Hisense have been able to get a TV out sooner with the Pentonic inside them.
Good thing - I want a 77 or "+ MLA - so I'm sure they are working hard on the Pentonic 1000- for next year - will make it a near perfect TV - Sony needs competition - wants those issues are sorted - faster GUI , etc - plus other benefits. Looking forward to see Sony's Flagship this year 77" QD-OLED - should win top TV this year - but Panasonic 65" will still look spectacular in SDR and HDR movies - these issues only affect a small % of movies - TV programs
I guess the Panasonic TV division doesn't have much finances, so they have to buy outdated equipment at cheap prices.
@@nimblegoatPentonic comes in different varieties: 700, 1000, 2000 (for 8k TV).
In fact, the only brand that this year puts Pentonic 1000 is Philips. Sony puts it only in top-end a95, and hisense puts pentonic 700, which is worse than 1000.
You better ask how tp vision was able to do what the others couldn't. It was the first to put the newest and most powerful chip in almost all its new TVs. Apparently, they spared no expense. Or just compared to their competitors have more money that they could buy so much
@@user-gu8ni5ui5e Ageed, they have less than 2% global TV market share so R&D budget must be razer thin
Just got the 100” U8K off Amazon for $2999 plus 5% back with their credit card … can’t wait till it’s delivered!
I got mine for same price with no tax and free freight from BrandsmartUSA. Came in 3 days!
Vincent true detective 💯
U7K uses the Mediatek Pentonic chipset as well
Pentonic comes in many forms. "700" is the budget version. "The 1000" is the best for 4k tvs. Like all last years chinese use budget versions of soc mediatek.
There's one thing I wish all TVs had is ARC on all hdmi connections.
I know ! They are being stingy with the HDMI 2.1 ports AND EARC !😡
can I ask, why do you need it?
@@avckubw938v1bnvowiqv it's handy because you wouldn't be stuck for one certain hdm port on your TV.
My previous TV had hdmi arc on all 4 hdmi ports.
For instance some TV models have atc on a bottom port or others have atc on a side port.
Also I use both a Polk react 5.1 soundbar and a 6.1 AV system. If I'm only watching TV I'll use the soundbar. If I'm watching a movie I'll use the AV system. The soundbar uses a lot less electricity which is why I use it for TV watching. With my last TV I could have both the soundbar and AV system plugged in to a hdmi arc port if their own. With my current TV I have take out the hdmi cable from the TV to use one or the other.
Why does it matter why I want it anyway?
@@AudiophileTommy the PHILIPS 58PUS8535 had ATC on all four hdmi ports. I don't know why the restrict arc to just one port and then some manufacturers have atc on the side hdmi or others have atc on a bottom facing port.
Another thing I find kind of annoying is some TV manufacturers put the hdmi on the right side instead of the left.
My shelving unit is on the left of my TV and my equipment is about three foot away from the TV with the cables routed into it. So if I bought a Samsung TV I would need to buy all new longer cables to go to the TV and re route all the cables.
I'm guessing this TV has BFI options, is that right? The nice thing about these new miniLED panels is they're getting brighter and at some point they'll be enough to be able to use BFI without the picture looking too dim.
Won't it still flicker like a mad bastard? I tried the BFI on an LG G3 in-store recently and the flicker was _so much worse_ than the mild stutter I was hoping it'd help mitigate.
@@johnnypopstar It depends, if it's flickering at 60Hz it shouldn't be so bad, but if it's 50Hz with PAL/European content it can be very bad (which is why people like Vincent don't use it). And for stutter you don't use BFI, which is to improve motion resolution from eye-tracking blur on flat panels. For stutter on film you want to use one of the motion interpolation settings instead.
Can we get a U8k vs TCL 845 comparison vid?
Thanks for the always good information!!
The TCL C845 also has had its SoC secretly replaced by a Pentonic 700 in the more recently manufactured sets.
is there a way check?
@@conraddeveraYeah the ones with the Pentonic 700 have "X2" added to the model reference number. TCL sells these as fast as they make them so if you buy a new one today, it's pretty much guaranteed to have the Pentonic 700.
Please make a review of Hisense U7K too. 🙏
The 75" model is an IPS ADS panel, just so everyone knows. Local dimming removes most of the downfalls of ips while gaining much better viewing angles and likely a brighter display. If they can update the tvs to remove the blown out hdr highlights this tv would be near perfect for budget consumers.
Its NOT IPS tho. It’s ADS-PRO. :)
Its ips technology, but NOT d low end ips.
There is apple iPhone 14, n iphone 14PRO. The PRO is WAYYYY better in every level. :) 😊
In communication class-first key word pokes our attention n formulates biased perception. So if we say IPS-ADS. Ppl will Fixate on its IPS. No matter when we mention it’s ADS PRO or ADS or it fix down fall etc. it wont be as effective cuz when we read IPS , our brain already made connection n translate it to UP or down sort of under standing.
Jus like when we talk about iphone 14 , or 14pro, we immediately feel its less or better by default without seeing/touching any of them.
Id honestly prefer the AV panel the 55&85 inch use.
Both offer significantly superior contrast.
@@johnfrankster3244 i thought i was on d Same boat as u since I have 2 Hisense VA flagship. N i swore i would never get a IPS. So i already reject 75” u8K before seeing it. BUT yes I SAY BUT. I saw it in store 75” u8K GLOSSY, panel. It’s BEAUTIFUL.me I was SHOCKED how it’s MORE advanced than my existing 55” 65” VA panel at home
I only found this video via a tech forum and not with the youtube search. Please put the model names in your titles again, please
I had honestly no clue that Mediatek made chipsets for TVs. This is really cool. I had heard of Pentonic lineup but never knew they enhanced TVs of all things.
Having the hardware is nice, but sometimes the implementation it seems is just as important (as well as software/AI algorithm whatever else)
See Sony having the same chip but better implementation for upscaling, motion processing etc
Sony motion processing is not great to be honest with you on my X95J. Anytime I watch a movie and the camera pans, I get so much judder. I can't choose a setting that makes me happy. Either I get the soap opera effect or lots of judder.
@@asafblasbergvideographer Sorry to hear that. One thing you could try is motionflow custom, smoothness on 1, clearness min and cinemotion low OR motionflow off and cinemotion on high; whichever one has minimal SoE
@@chibbyylol Thanks! I'll give it a try.
Only the Sony A95L uses Pentonic as far as we know.
@@E96Wrong. Philips TV has the most TVs with Pentonic 1000 chip (not to be confused with 700). Sony has it only in the a95l. All the others are on old chips.
Why don't you put the name of the TV in the title ? your last video about the MZ2000 was the same, no mention of the model in the title
So when people search for reviews of this Tv, your video is not in the result...
He'll likely change the title once some more views come in
It’s basically clickbait. Requires you to “watch” the video if you are interested in the answer to which TV it is…
@@mattspeer01 But... it's so dumb !
Most of his views come not from subscribers who would have this video in their feed and will ask themselves what is the TV and so click on the video to see it...
No, most views come from people that just do a single google or youtube search for "MZ2000 review" and click on the first few videos in the result, in which his video isn't since the name of the tv is not in the title !
@Alice.59 Unfortunately, that is the way that youtube works these days 😢. For the algorithm to not work against you, you need as much views as possible in the first few days. So you need clickbait titles and thumbnails. After the first days views come mostly from viewers who are searching for the subject of the video so you can use less clickbaity titles.
@@MrSjirafje I didn't say the clickbait is the problem, I said not putting the TV name is the problem
you can still have the clickbait title but add the name at the end:
[REVIEW] Nobody Knew This TV 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗟𝗬 Uses a Pentonic Chip (4K 120Hz Dolby Vision!) [Panasonic MK2000]
if you need lot of view in the first few day, then you will have a lot more view from people searching for TV review, then you would have from the small part of your subscribers that will watch it imediately
I thought at CES this year Hisense stated all model numbers and designs would finally be the same globally. The on-board speakers on that UK version is not like the U.S. version at all. I'd much prefer front facing and upward firing speakers on that UK version. Why the difference?
You wouldn't prefer the EU version, as it's based on horrible VIDAA, this OS doesn't even have the most basic apps like HBO Max, Spotify, Tidal, Twitch, Canal+ and audio is still really basic for much higher price than US. At least on the picture quality front they should be the same, so much better for EU than in previous years, but still we are treated like a second class citizens
@@mateuszptaszynski5377 central stand rules
It looks different compared to US U8K. That has a different stand, remote and Google TV. By the way the 75 inch U8K has an IPS type ADS panel for wider viewing angles
So people need to avoid the 75 inch. ADS contrast sucks
@@mrbrookeyoungThat depends on the mini LED backlight quality. The best mini LED backlights negate that disadvantage, making ADS or IPS better with their more accurate colors and wide viewing angles. However, a VA panel copes better with bad backlights if you care about contrast more than viewing angles and color accuracy.
@@jnvivianWhat this guy said ^ I've seen it in store and the black levels are great. Contrast ratios are measured with local dimming off, they don't reflect the tvs actual picture quality when local dimming is in use.
@@mrbrookeyoungfrom reviews Iv seen the ADS Panel is superior
Trying to decide between this and the QM8 to replace my 14-15 year old Panasonic plasma in my man cave. Maybe the x90L. I’d prefer a 55” which sadly the qm8 doesn’t offer but if it’s better then it’s worth having a size that is larger than I need (not too big where viewing distance will be too close though)
Dude x90L has Blooming. Small but Def noticable. U better off getting Samsung S95B. QD-OLED they hve 55”. QM8, U8K vs X90L are not same level. X90L is more like at U7K level (with peak brightness, local dimming matching, and U7K still has MUcH better Blooming control )
IF U coming off Plasma,,,total black , no to little blooming u will HATE anything with blooming. :) 😊 even 2022 flagship U8H 55” will be better Blooming Control than SONY X90L. They were SOLD OUT in 30 min in Black Friday, n sold out twice after re-tock. Ppl all waited 2-3 month for pre order . D ones on Bestbuy site all came after late Jan n Feb. IF u have NEVEr had full ledged LED, n go from Plazma is like coming form windows XP , old monitor, computer go straight to 2023 top notch laptop. U d be SHOCKED. 😊🎉
If you have a plasma, an LCD like the U8K or the QM8 could look like a partial downgrade due to LCD’s raised black levels and/or worse viewing angles depending on which LCD technology is used. Try waiting for the Sony A95L in a few weeks for a QD-OLED that is well-built and has an acceptable base processor in the MediaTek Pentonic 1000 which is higher end than the Pentonic 700 processor in the U8K and a great video coprocessor in the Cognitive Processor XR. The S95B is too fragile and has a first generation QD-OLED that will quickly burn in. The S90C is similarly fragile and has one of three options: a first generation QD-OLED that will quickly burn in, a second generation QD-OLED that is nerfed by having a weak power supply unit and firmware that limits the panel’s performance to first generation performance that won’t burn in as quickly, or a WOLED with its banding and tinting problems. The S95C is more sturdy, has a proper power supply, and a guaranteed second generation QD-OLED panel, but has HDMI port design problems that are causing drop outs in some scenarios. WOLED panels have white sub pixels which often dilute the brightest pixels’ colors, bad uniformity, and unwanted tints compared to QD-OLED.

I would grab QM8 or U8K, or even U8H. Over X90L that Actually HAS blooming. N off looking color. I def wont go with Sony QD OLED, overpriced. It’s gonna be good, but there better stuff there ppl dont want to believe.
@@birdtj82 I have a rather old Sony TV myself, and its processing is great compared to its contemporary peers. Second, many reviewers say that Sony’s processing is among the best of Google TVs and Android TVs.
Second, all current LCD and OLED panels are either RGB or RGBW panels. Whenever you use a panel that has a non-primary color like white or yellow, the color volume of the non-primary color is boosted while the color volume of the primary colors is reduced. This is why WOLEDs and RGBW LCDs are often forced to water down the brightest saturated colors with white to get the desired brightness, to darken them to keep the saturation, or compromise between the two goals of saturation and brightness. Only LG was stupid enough to substitute whole RGB pixels with white pixels in budget TVs and market them as “4K” when they are really 2K TVs. Its higher end LCD TVs use true RGB LCD panels, and nobody else has used RGBW LCDs after that. Had LG been honest by counting the white sub pixels as sub pixels only and not as their own pixels, RGBW LCD could have still been a thing instead of failing in the market.
Also, why do you say that Samsung, LG, and Hisense deal only in hue while Sony and TCL deal only in RGB? TVs have to deal with both models. Analog TV signals originally contained luma information. When color was added, the luma signal had to be kept for monochrome TVs, and two chroma signals were added which contained the hue and saturation information in a way that monochrome TVs ignored. Color TVs converted these signals to the kinds of signals that their display parts required like RGB, RGBY, or RGBW because the displays cannot take the raw TV signal. Digital TV signals are similar because heavily compressing chroma signals does far less damage than heavily compressing luma signals, so it is done for compression purposes. So saying that TVs deal exclusively in one or the other is practically incorrect.
Finally, some Philips-branded TP Vision TVs outside of North America, Samsung TVs, and Sony TVs use LG Display RGBW WOLEDs in some of their TVs.
Whats the better tv u8k or tcl c845?
Also does the u7k feature the same chipset?
Again as in Fomo videos, for me H8K has way too much green tint of the image. BUt for the money ,yeah looks great TV.
Does the U7K have the same processor?
It's a sin you didn't compare this to the TCL QM8. can this chipset overcome 8bit FRC vs 10bit? The TCLs brightness is godlike putting most OLEDs to shame at the cost of bad sharpness.
@friedzombie4: The TCL QM8 is not available to buy in the UK where we're based.
@@hdtvtest that's a shame, I think it would be worthy of importing if you have the time/funds. TCLs flagship if you can get over lack of granular Local Dimming control and not displaying if HDR is on for some HDR10+ content absolutely is the best budget panel right now.
@HDTVTest can you or anyone else on the chat confirm if that Pentonic chip that was mentioned in the video for the 65" is also used in the 55" U8K model?
@ravidalchand9241: Yes, the 55-inch U8K will also use the MT9618 chipset.

Which is the best tv/monitor for consoles now?…Also thank you for what you do 🙏
3:53 "More zones in the vertical axis"
I think the logic in this does make sense in that most of the environments we interact are dominated by horizontal lines, roads, floors, tables etc... Of course vertical lines exist but they don't appear with the same frequency.
Thank you very much for the review, but I would like to know what's your opinion about the tv before the calibration? As you know it's not easy to find a professional calibration.
Dude I am female consumer and I m NOT rugu. But I fall in to none tech but curious consumer that likes good TV. So since I was d Randomly first timer getting Smart TV for the first Time in 2020 (cuz i had $4000 LED before n lasted long ), i was first time getting Smart tv, having to learn carlibration.
Like I calibrated on my own. It is SO easy. Kinda like ppl always use Dumb phone, using iPhone for the first time in 2009 first time was like”intimidating” but after like 1-2 weeks u can never go back. Once u use iPhone, when u use other smart phones its all Fine when figuring out. There is NO more panic .
It’s so easy , the calibration of TV is so easy . I CANT CANT explain how MUCH Hisense TV are JSUT stunning . It makes my husband REALLY H8te Sony n LG> he is IT tech guy, buys all expensive Tech.
U dont want an Uncalibrated LED. It’s like using a SET (amount of salt n seasoning) applying to all meals when cooking. Just pay Quatum TV $5 . I have seen so many ppl writing reviews saying using his calibration for Hisense look great for Gamming n movies n steaming.
So if the U8K has the chipset, the UX probably uses it and so I should totally buy the UX.
But not 65, 65 has high probability of being IPS
Most of my experience with VA panel TVs was a bit of lag , off axis colour shift and crushed blacks.
But I thought my current TV (which I'm changing in a few weeks) is an LG 50UQ70006LB had an ips panel because it doesn't have the VA drawbacks. The blacks are grey and there's very little lag.
But it is a va panel. The blacks are very grey on the screen. I looked it up online to get panel info. I couldn't find the brightness level of it though but I'm sure it's in the mid to low 200 nits level.
When I saw it's a va I thought the website I looked on was wrong so I put on my polarised sunglasses and looked at the tv.
When I look at an ips TV with the sunglasses on the screen looks purple or nothing shows on the screen when it's turned on.
When I look at a va screen with the sunglasses on it looks normal. With my sun glasses on my current TV looks normal confirming it's a va panel.
There are no 50" ips panels available so it has to be VA. IPS was in 49" but it's not available anymore
50,60,70,82 inch LG TVs usually have VA Panels - 43,49,55,65,75,86 are usually IPS sometimes certain models have a panel lottery
You dont notice the difference between 5 & 2 ms response times rofl… the only lag you actually do notice is the OS, which has fa to do with the panel used.
Can you compare US U8K vs European U8K?
European U8K has the soundbar, but speakers power is same, and has Hisense's Operation system VIDAA 7.0, which is worse than Google TV bcs it haven't HBO Max and a lot of next apps
Great info always!
Any way to verify if the new chip is included in the 55 inch model?
Thank you for all your work. Can you take a look at the Hisense 65U79KQ 900 nits with 240 dimming zones ? I bought it for € 749,-
Hello great review vincent!! Thank you!! I have a question for gamma i thought gamma 2.2 used to be standard but now I amreading and even in your videos you go for BT.1886 gamma. For this Hisense what gamma you suggest and local dimming setting of High or Medium for SDR? Thank You!!!
Now that you found this, I'm sure Hisense will disable it in a future "update". Right before the warranty expires.....😮
I just bought a TCL C845 here in the Uk and it has a MT9653 which is such a nice surprise! £1050 for the 65 inch is looking like an even bigger bargain now!
How are you finding the TCL? Can you watch BBC iPlayer or do you have to faff about with a Roku?
@@richardmarkham8369 I’m really liking it, I came from a £350 tv so it’s a massive upgrade for me, no you can’t watch iplayer but I don’t watch it anyway so it’s not a deal breaker for me
So how about upscaling lower resolution content with new chip from Mediatek?
Why did the Hisense appear so much warmer in the video? Was it a camera setting issue, or is it really that much warmer? It seems odd seeing as it has such a low Delta error.
I just bought the TCL c935 and when I watch this video, I think I should have taken this model for the dolby vision 120hz.
I can't find any settings on the internet for Xbox HDR with the tcl.
Does anyone know if the 55" and 65" models of the U8K have the same TCON board?
When the U8G came out, it had really bad ghosting in games. Hisense announced it would be fixed in a firmware update. However, the update worked only with the board installed on the 65" model, which the smaller one didn't have. I ended up having to return my 55" model, which has made me reluctant to buy later Hisense tvs. BTW, I use a tv for both tv watching and as a pc monitor, and the 65" would be too big for my space.
i have an european u8h (only 120 dimming zones and ips panel) and i have no probleme with this.
i heard there is with old but for me its ok.
@@mickey-neo Thanks, good to know.
I had already performed a search at displayspecifications and the portuguese hisense site, and it seems that all sizes from the u6k, u7k, u8k and uxk, all use the same mediatek mt9618.
@@Noneya5555 Did you end up getting a U8K 55 inch? If so, how has it been? I am also looking to upgrade my gaming monitor and have narrowed my choices down to a 55 inch U8K or an LG C2. I would prefer 42 or 48 inches, but 55 is as low as the U8K goes, and the C2s are sold out at these sizes. The 55 inch U8K is currently $750, compared to the 55 inch C2 costing $1,200. I am not sure that the C2 OLED is worth $450 more to me.
@@ryanb7186 I'm still considering it. I wanted a smaller size so I could sit closer to the screen (with my current 55" TCL R646, I sit about 5' away, at a foldable desk). Considered the 42" C2, but the brightness on smaller tv screens is lower than on larger ones. And woled displays are already dimmer and less vibrant than lcd or qd-oled panels, even at larger sizes. Also, with oled pc monitors, the brightness is even worse. The fact that LG and Samsung need to intentionally lower the brightness of oled monitor panels relative to tvs suggests that oled is still not ready for full use as pc displays.
I may just go with the Hisense, as it has more dimming zones (less blooming), gaming features, Gsync compatibility, a higher refresh rate, and better gradient handling than my TCL. Or I might just wait for Black Friday, and go with a 42" C3 or a 55" Samsung S90C, if the prices drop enough. I just wish either the Hisense or Samsung came in a 42" model.
Great to see Mediatek upped their game from their last gen disappointment
Which local dimming setting is best for sdr movies and gaming? Im being told medium by some. And high by others?
Peter in the green jersey? Man, that was some old footage!
It would be really nice if you could review the tcl qm8. It’s a lot different than the tcl model you recently reviewed.
Mr. Teoh lives in the UK. The QM8 is a model that is not sold in the UK or the European Union.
@@jnvivian he has gotten us models before. TCL would also likely send him one.
So which 75inch tv is the best the TCL or the hisense
Hey, I have a U8K AU Edition, I'd like to see if it has the same chip, can you let me know which VIDAA app got you that screen?
How does it compare to Sony x90l? Especially when it comes to watching SDR content from Sling and Pluto? Is it on par or much worse?
Wasn't the U8K initially supposed to have built in up firing Dolby Atmos speakers?
I'm torn between a 65" lg c2 or a 65" hisense U8K. I'd be using it for everything. My ps5, streaming, Netflix, Prime and 4k blue rays etc. Anyone have a suggestion or preference and why? Thank you. Great channel.
C2. U8K is a good deal sure but OLED destroys mini led in terms of contrast and black levels
@@mrbrookeyoung Thank you.
@@mell.7017 Hope you enjoy. Once you go OLED you can't go back
Hisense and TCL mini led technology is so good that the black levels on their qled televisions are nearly indistinguishable from oled as it really is that good on the higher end TCL Hisense models plus you’re gonna get significantly higher and better Hdr brightness all without needing to worry about backlight limiters and image burn in while gaming for long sessions so I’d definitely get the latest mini led qled Hisense or TCL
Go with the cheaper option, or just wait another year... $1000-$1500 can net you a really nice projector, if you can justify using a white/cream colored wall, and have 15 ft of distance... Projectors are not bad if you can stand a mostly dark room. Example, I have a bedroom door open ( not facing the projector) with plenty of out door light. So yeah... Happy shopping!
I got the 55" U8K for $750, probably the best 55" under $1000.
How has it been
@@theelusivememe1772Been working great. I can see some faults, blooming might possibly be a bit worse than what you might get from Sony, but it's a lot brighter. I've had no issues using it with my Apple TV, the built in OS may be different.
Great video.
I am one of Your Fans.
can you please post your settings for sdr and hdr content?
Vincent , any sort of timeline for you getting the Sony AL 95 in for a review??
Oi Vincenzo!
What’s the deal with gamma setting being locked at 2.2 in all HDR modes? That seems like a massive oversight, especially with such a bright TV. Can you wiggle your nose and have the Hisense engineers implement a solution?
Hardly a high end TV when you can’t enjoy HDR content with cinematic settings.
Could you investigate the hdmi handshake/dropout issue on the S95C?
It’s an issue on a lot of Samsung’s lineup :(
Does the screen go black randomly to the point of being unusable over HDMI? Could be cursed like many of the other OneConnect models. My QN95A was useless over HDMI (besides for my Shield) but my QN90B has been flawless
@@iceymagoo yeah. And it manifests differently for different sets. Sometimes it happens only at a certain refresh rate, sometimes at all refresh rates. Sometimes it is an intermittent signal dropout, sometimes it is a complete blackout or perpetual spinning circle. Some people manage to solve it using a different hdmi cable, some people have to replace the whole tv. It's a mess.
Haven’t had a single drop out. Try a better hdmi cable I use audio quest
@@NexGenTek someone had samsung replaced his tv and no longer have had issues ever since, so it's not always the cable.
This a Sony A95L?
No. This is a Hisense U8K for the European market.
Is it still true that for a very bright room, mini-led beats oled? This Hisense U8k seems to wipe the floor with everything other than maybe the TCL C845 (which I can't see IRL anywhere...). Question is, is the U8K worth the extra £400 from the U7K? It's a big price jump, nearly 45% more. At £900 is there any other 65"TV worth looking at?
Wondering the same.
@@3lementa1 We bought a U7K is the end. For £900 it's super good value and fine in our very bright room (orangery)
@@richardmarkham8369 Awesome! Think I'm gonna go with the U7K too. Would like the TCL C845 but it's 400€ more for it. I'd rather pick up a good soundbar for that price difference.
@@3lementa1 Yeah, you have to set a budget somewhere because there's always a slightly better model for a bit more and a bit more and next thing you know you're at £2500 for a TV. Is a £2500 TV two and a half times better than an £900 TV? No. Is a £900 TV unwatchable, certainly not. £900 got us a TV the size we wanted, with the brightness we need. Not seen anything to make us regret the purchase.
You should make more videos with monitors for gamers. especially budget friendly ones. As now you can buy oled monitors same as tvs we know its becoming crazy.
That's what the channel Monitors Unboxed is for.
Put some respect on their name.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M Was about to reply with this but you beat me to it, props
Just got a 75” U8K, and I am disappointed to see my PS5 Home Screen no longer displays in HDR, even when changing system settings to “always on” from “on when supported.” Apparently others have noticed the same issue with Hisense TVs. Everything seems fine on the Xbox Series X, but I wish TV reviewers would comment on the flaky HDR/PS5 compatibility when reviewing this TV. B The Installer mentioned washed out HDR when gaming (on just the PS5 I assume), but he never really dug into why. I may return this TV. Very unfortunate.
The 75" for whatever reason is a weird beast as it's an IPS panel as opposed to what is available on the rest of their lineup, at least in the US. It's assumed that the internals are similarly affected. I have a 65" and no issues with the home screen displaying in HDR
Do all U8K sizes carry the Pentonic chip? Any idea what type of panel the 85" comes with?
Hello vincent, need ur help in ur opinion which better lg C3 77inch for 3500$ or lg G2 77INCH for 3800$?
Can't EOTF be calibrated to match the reference curve?
Such a beautiful tv. The u8k is my dream tv.
What chipset does Sony use in the X90L ?
Mt5895 (2021)
Hey can I ask how to check the chipset exactly? Im struggling to find it out.
Hisense u8k or sony q90L. Please which one?
I guess the Hisense U7K also uses this same Chip.
Dynamic Tone Mapping is on or off during Xbox HDR calibration?
I am using a KS8000 and it still looks great, do you think the U8K 75" would be a worthy upgrade???? Thank you for your great info!!!!
Same here. Looks like it's time to change good old 55KS8000 to something newer and bigger. And U8K is number one candidate for me right now.
75" U8K is IPS, at that size TCL C845 or Sony X90L is probably a better choice
@@mateuszptaszynski5377 I thought it was some kind of ISP hybrid that gave a lot better than just a standard IPS panel by the reviews I’ve seen
I used to have 55-inch KS8000 and last year I got Hisense U8H and I am very happy with the change. Picture quality on my Hisense U8H is much better. But yes it does have banding issue in some games/movies but overall I am happy with it. It looks like U8K solved many of the issues that U8H had. Not sure of the panel if ADs or VA for 75 inch U8K, but after watching Vincent's review of this tv I would suggest make the change.
Does anyone know his best pick for a TV that has a great picture quality at a great price point?
Can’t you do a Hisense uhd 4K 60 hz tv please and thank you
Don't the u8k and u7k actually advertise 144Hz refresh rates?
I have a question: What is the differences between Hisense UXKQ and Hisense U8KQ ... I have read somewhere that UXKQ are using also Pentonic 700 chip, but there is a difference in price 1700EUR vs 2500EUR in our country. I have read that there som new screen "Dynamic X-Display" ... Thank you very much for answer
UXKQ is the same thing as US--UX model.
It has 5000 local dimming and 2500 nit peak brightness, it has some crazy Chip processor and in USA its $5000 USD for 85”. --I heard they ONLY release 200 Units in USA.
U8KQ is the Flagship panel that for mass release . BEST bang for d MONEY. 1500(tested saying reach2000)nit peak brighness, 1080 loca dimming. But their $1400(international price ) for 65” can compete even Exceed $2600-3000 Panels on the Market.
Hello hdtvtest! I wanted to ask you a question, I live in Chile, and here the Maeca Hisense has a different serial number... Here we have the U85MK. Do you think that tv is the same U8K?
Si, es la misma
I saw someone mention online that a new update fixed 144hz with Nvidia cards. Anyone out there that can help confirm this?
Well so far for me using a standard hdmi 2.1 48gb cable usinh an rtx 4080 144hz at 4k is not an option. The work around us using a displayport to hdmi cable that makes it work. Im using it now 4k @144hz no problems buttery smooth
@@antos1951 I ended up buying this tv and 4k144hz worked for me just fine
I knew, but I just didn't want anyone else to know...
this hisense can be calibrated with calman?
Am getting the Sony 65 95K till the price comes down on the Sony77 L 👀
I NEED MORE BOOLETS ‼️
So Sony x90l or Hisense u8k?
65-inch: 1,008 dimming zones
75-inch: 1,056 dimming zones
With nearly the same number of dimming zones as the 65" model will the 75" models local dimming performance be the same?
My TVs in consideration: 85" Q6 $899, 75" Q7 $899, 75" U8K $1299, 75" X90L $1499, 77" S89C $1999, 98" TCL S4 $2499 😅 🤷
Hey good question. The 65” n 85” both VA panel. The 75” is ADS-PRO. The same panel of Samsung QN95C n QN90C (in Larger size).
The u8k 75” ads-pro panel is MORE crisp veyr glossy panel that prob dont need that many local dimming . Otherwise will be too too glossy crisp. No joke i saw in person teh 75” i was jaw dropped. It looked like Flagship QD-OLED when I quickly adjusted with remote.
Omg x90L has--MATTE screen. N has blooming. N it’s not even mini led it’s generic QLED.N it has --pathetic 48 or something local dimming in 65” size. N thick megenta tint.
S89C --VERY DIM OLED. U better off getting LG c1. Second hand.
TCL S4 series is like really not premium. The 98” its so stretched out. U wont want that.
The ADS-PRO is the VERY PREMIUM panel they only have in 75”--its glossy n very crisp n has NO viewing angle issue. It has OLED Viewing angle . Any other size is VA panel the viewing angle is still good just if u like to sit at far end of room if u have long living room. U might see tv fade out a bit from side. But i get tv cart with wheels so i tilt my tv all the time :) :)
Does this apply to the 85/100 inch?
For forza horizon 5, what value should the brightness slider be in the in-game settings? The default seems to blowout highlights. I have a LG CX and 180 seems pretty good.
Hello, I have the brightness at minimum and saturation at max. 🤠👍 Good luck! P.s. Hgig setting is on.
Would the American version of the U8K also have this mt9618 chipset?
@MightyGregu: 100% yes.
Isn’t the U8K a VA panel?
What are the main differences between the US model of this tv (U8K) and the european version (U8KQ)?🤔
Just the tv box/legs/remote. Wher they put speakers. Everything else pretty much same. Like how cars with same internal parts but diff body.
@@birdtj82 thanks for the info!
@@spalion3 yeah, they are like NO fail TVs. Don’t trust those “digital Trends” or “value eletronics shoutout “ etc. they are all “tv boy group behind d door operate same un spoken fashion”
Real Hisense is like SONY/LG worse nightmare. They look VERY close to visual of QD-OLED, only takes 20 seconds tweak. I own 2 of them. :)
How can i check my tcl SOC?
I want go on a date with pentatonic chip
This looks different than the US version though… maybe I haven’t looked too hard at it.
It's definitely different because the sound system in the U.S. model is 2.1.2 i believe.
The panel and and internals have been confirmed the same by Hisense this year except the stand and Vida operating system
The U8H local dimming does not work in 120hz vrr and black and colors looked washed out. How about this model?
U8H was never fixed for 4k120hz. Blurry mess. The U8K seems to have the new chip which renders true 4k120hz.
@@abuelb im going to sale this tv asap, do you know if the tcl 55r655 has this problem too?
Which TV is better for watching in a dark room Hisense U8K or Samsung QN90B? Pleas may be someone has real experience.
Absolutely U8K. I hv seen last year U8H. It match the Samsung QD-OLED S95B image at 96%(HD)-98%(4k). D QN95B match about 94-96% to S95B, and QN90B match 94% to S95B…color/crisp/3D contrast/blooming.
Yeah U8K n QN90B will be very close 1 another . D U8K will be slightly better -especially in Blooming. Its gorgeous. I saw it in store.
Also significantly BETTER Speakers.
Thanks!
In Rting review 65u8k model native contrast is 7557:1. In your unit native contrast is (4881:1). Why so different?
