    Watching the realization hit you of the full circle back to “The night does not belong to God” is so relatable I’m glad I’m not the only one who got emotional

  • @missinbrain
    @missinbrain Год назад +247

    When he says “the night belongs to YOU” and the full band kicks in…it feels like he’s either finally completing the lyrics from TNDNBTG or else revising it light of the journey he’s been on. Also, as someone who is prone to bouts of nihilism, listening to that moment feels to me like Vessel encouraging me with hope. Yet it doesn’t come across as corny. This song is very special to me.

    • @frostfang1
      @frostfang1 Год назад +20

      yes not corny, telling us the choice is ours, not his or anyone elses. that having that choice at all is hope. And whatever he does, it is not on us to follow his path. We can make our own way in the dark, wherever his voice may be coming from, no matter what moon or stars might illuminate a path, or be obscured by a canopy of trees.

    Edit: 10:32 That look when the realization kicks in of the circle looping right back to where we began is where I started crying. Also when you said you weren't too great with lyrics, Vessel directly says in the breakdown right before the rest of the band kicks in, he says "The night belongs to you", which is also a direct callback to The Night Does Not Belong To God, and he also says right after that: "This bough has broken through", which is another direct callback to a song of theirs from their very first EP called "When The Bough Breaks". Vessel is an incredible lyricist. Absolutely incredible.

      @@vincelatulippe0804 sure man. So the three albums, Sundowning, This Place Will Become Your Tomb, and now Take Me Back to Eden appear to be a Trilogy. The tune that you hear at the end of Euclid is the song that begins Sundowning, so it all circles back. Sundowning is an amazing album by the way. I've loved just about everything they've done. Also, take me back to Eden has a lot of callback references to other songs on that album and their discography so they're nice little easter eggs for us hardcore Sleep Token fans. This is one of those instances where you can enjoy an album without having heard anything else by the artists. But having heard those previous projects on repeat for years through life tragedies, mental breakdowns, grief, having shared with lovers who’ve you lossed, and many nights n’ days of hardships.. having held such sentimental value to such art and you get an ending like Euclid, a song that takes all those years and almost breaks any form of chains that the sorrow n’ pain that were wrapped around you once existed.. it’s almost an religious experience. It’s almost as if the soul is being healed and restored to finally let go of what feels like we’ve been drowning in for so long. This song has me sobbing, especially with the “do you remember me?…. For me it’s still the autumn leaves…” and so on. I have many fond memories of my time with my ex. Not just in autumn, but generally certain pillars of memories. And then the “the night belongs to you” I wish I could just stop being in my mind all the time and having that relationship in my mind. Especially at night.. there is not much to distract someone when they try to sleep. Or you even dream about someone. That line said everything I am feeling. Then going back to the lyrics of TNDNBTG - when he sings about all the tenderness. And knowing that this person was not for him. No matter what it felt like and still does. Even though they still creep up in your mind. Even though you would bring heaven down for them but you cannot have them either way. Coming back to TMBTE (song) “and no amount of love will keep it around if we don’t choose it” this album had me f*cked up good. Broke up in December, went to UK to escape my feelings and see Sleep Token live in January, not knowing this would be a whole album closing the circle on this bitter story. Now I am sitting here being forced in a way and also helped through my feelings of that break up 6 months ago. What a journey.

    The whole song feels like a trip through their whole work, a good bye and sort of a cycle closing. One of two songs in the album that manages to make me cry, and that's extremely rare for any one song or album, and TMBTE manages to do it twice. They've outdone themselves with this one.

    The release of this song is so immense. When they start layering all the previous sections of the song on top of eachother in the final climax, it's catharsis like nothing I think I've ever experienced. Three albums of buildup for two glorious minutes of musical bliss.

What they have accomplished with this trilogy is incredible, the story while being a tragedy is so beautiful. Vessel leaves his heart and soul in every song and has a way of being so raw and visceral while also being eloquent. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys music and wanted to spend some time with their feelings to listen to the three albums start to finish. Much love from Barbados 🇧🇧

    For such a long time….me and my now fiancé have never truly been able to find a song the described or really spoke to us in a way that we felt unified and made us feel for each other. And we have both been fans of sleep token before we met each other. Euclid is the song we managed to find for the first time that we both cried to when TNDNBTG melody came in. Sleep token has been such a big part of ours lives as a separate people….and now it has brought us together as a whole. The two of us. And knowing how big of an impact it’s had with you and your other half is just such an amazing thought. Thank you so unbelievably much for your thoughts and expressions on this song. From a random person on the internet, thank you for giving us the opportunity to hear and know your stories and life. Much love brother.

    I love how comfortable you are with silence. Most would cut out those prolonged moments of pensive silence, but leaving them in is a very serious decision, and very bold, and very vulnerable. I sat through them all. No skipping. It was very refreshing. Out of all the reactors I've seen on this platform, you seem to be one of the very few who truly appear genuine, and that is amazing. Please keep up the amazing work.
