I never really got a chance to experience the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade growing up, so I figured I'd do it now. And it was glorious. Enjoy!

Pssst. Hey. It's me, Scott's second channel. We're having all kinds of fun over here. Come hang out.
hi scott's second channel We're having all kinds of fun over here Come hang out, I am dad
scott why are you struggling
Ok
I can't, I'm grounded :/
Love your second channel scott dw
I know we’re talking about the parade, but we gotta acknowledge the Dog Show that happens right after. The family gathers around picking their favorite dogs and then yelling at the TV like we’re watching a horse race
Thank you, I thought my family was the only ones who watched it.
Yeah that show has always been apart of my thanksgiving day
The dog show is hands down my favorite thanksgiving media
I adore the dog show, my family always roots for the breeds that make up our dog
That sounds horrible but maybe that’s why my family fell apart 🤣
Knives Out is an all-timer Thanksgiving movie. It's got impeccable November vibes and it's all about a big family gathering in a house and arguing. Perfection.
I completely approve. Total thanksgiving vibe.
Yes 1 time I sat between my aunt and uncle fighting ruthelssly over Frozen the kids movie. I was so uncomfortable.
Blood Rage and Thankskilling >>>>>
Funny thing is I rented that for thanksgiving
Ooh, we might have to watch it this year.
If you haven't seen Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, it's a treat. Not quite as classic as Halloween and Christmas but who doesn't love watching Snoopy box the chair?
Who hasn’t seen it?
Seriously, if you haven’t seen it. . . *YOU HAVE TOO!*
It's honestly my favorite one. It's so sweet how they try their best to make a good dinner (even if Charlie was forced to). Showing that you don't need all the traditional stuff and that family can be anyone in your life that you love.
@@literaryloser4470 We just watched it over the weekend and we were talking about how good the kids do! For being kids who can't cook they put on a feast
One of these days I'm gonna make my version of Charlie Brown's makeshift dinner
@@Mockingdragonthe kids didn’t cook shit! Snoopy carried the whole team from start to finish 😂
I was IN the 2008 parade!! 😄
I was taking classes at the Alvin Ailey Dance School and was one of the students invited to join Company dancers in the parade to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
It was sooooo cold and we were walking/dancing behind the police horses that kept shutting everywhere, but it was such a fun experience to be a part of.
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is the ultimate Thanksgiving movie that I grew up on. John Candy and Steve Martin? You can’t miss with that duo!
Plus the “I like me” speech is an all-timer.
I second this. It’s one of my favorite movies ever
seconded
I haven't watched that movie in years never cared about it man.
Very real. Plus the humor is very scott-core imo
I came here to say the same thing
When Scott said "name something bad that happened in 2008, I'll wait" I genuinely thought there would be a chart showing the 2008 recession. I thought that was going to be the joke.
Same! I was just waiting for the punchline... then it never happened
That was the joke, he just didn't spell out the punchline
I was Born. So that’s pretty bad.
was gonna say. Obama is the EASIEST answer to that 🤣🤣
@@EmOgirlGuilbert I was going to say these exact words lol 😂
I marched the Macy's Parade in 2017 with my high school marching band in 2017. It was a very surreal experience. My hands were frozen solid, everyone was cheering wether we were playing or not, we almost missed out cue for the section where we were being filmed for tv, and at the end of the parade everyone thought I was famous because I was wearing a big ol bass drum with a fancy Thanksgiving Day Parade drumhead. Like I said, surreal.
Bob Belcher has been absolutely owning thanksgiving for 14 years
A fellow Belchie - nice!! I didn’t expect this😊
I was scanning for this comment
Oh isn't that the gay guy?
Came here to say this too!
Pass the cranberry sauce , we're having mashed potatoes!
Free Birds is an amazing Thanksgiving. It's the one where they go back in time to the first Thanksgiving to get turkeys off the menu. That's right, they go back in time to first Thanksgiving to get turkeys off the menu.🦃
And the main character is ... the presidentially pardoned turkey?? Who apparently gets to have a room in the White House and order pizza?? XD it's bonkers!
I get the reference here
😂
Yesss free birds every year baby
Are you serious! They go back in time to the first thanksgiving to get turkeys off the menu?!? I never knew such a beautiful movie could exist where they actually go back in time to the first thanksgiving to get turkeys off the menu.
scott and his family are exactly what i picture when someone says "american", and in the best way possible. I love watching this guy talk about wild shit that is somehow completely normal there, it's great 😂
As a 20 yr old I cannot wrap my head around the fact that there was a Macy's Thanksgiving Parade like 2 months after 9/11. Just 3 miles away. Like. Something that is usually my favorite part of Thanksgiving that I associate with childhood innocence & joy taking place in the shadow of that tragedy. Like. Damn. Why have I never thought of this before?
@@foolishlyfoolhardy6004cuz 9/11
It was probably honestly a good source of positivity for NYC locals. A fun and happy distraction to get their minds off the tragedy
@@madisonharrill1935 I totally agree! I'm so glad they did have it. It's just such a bittersweet thing.
People need as much normalcy as possible after traumatic events it helps the process and transition into daily life to be smoother
I heard the fires were still burning at ground zero during the 2001 parade
As someone who was born in '97, it's nice to know that my very first Thanksgiving was so violent.
Editing to add that Bob's Burgers has great Thanksgiving episodes
Yesss I'm always watching those while cooking :) Careful with that turkey!!!
I'm British but I absolutely love bob's burgers' thanksgiving episodes!! Some of my favourite episodes of the show in all honesty, love the episode in the nursing home with the chaos there :3
Don't forget about its a Charlie brown thanksgiving
You missed out- it was a GLORIOUS display
Brooklyn Nine-Nine had good Thanksgiving episodes too
Fun fact- they do a huge run through of the parade for camera moves at 2am that day. The streets are littered with half asleep teenage band kids (I was one of them)
One time my family was staying in NYC for the parade - and accidentally booked a hotel directly near where the parade was being rehearsed. Didn’t sleep that night but it was actually pretty cool to hear
That is a very fun fact thank you!
Second fun fact- what you see in front of Macy's is the very end of the parade route. You perform, walk around the corner, and it's over
I marched in the parade in 8th grade, I remember that! We got back to the hotel rooms by like, 10 PM, and had to be up by 12:30 AM 💀
Same! Back in 2005 my high school marching band got to participate. I remember our 2am session having to run back and forth in front of the Macy’s store to practice our routine. Then we slept in the charter buses near the starting line to avoid being late. Almost lost my contact lenses in my eyeballs that morning…last time I fell asleep with contacts on since then
I swear Scott is the most positive youtuber 🥺
That’s why I love him
Failboat:
Report of the Week, Steve Wallace and Grand Illusions may beat him. But Scott is positive too.
I was a Macy's employee in the NYC metro area from 1987-92 while in college, and participated in the 88, 89, 90, & 91 parades as a ballon handler. Spiderman, Woody Woodpecker, Shamu, & Pink Panther were the balloons I had. I always looked forward to the day of the parade. What Macys did was provide transportation from your store (all the NY, NJ, & CT locations), took you to either Herald Square or the Newark warehouses to dress in your specific colour matched coveralls for that years ballon (red & blue for Spiderman & Woody Woodpecker, pink for Pink Panther, Shamu was just plain white), then bus you to the parades starting point around 72nd St IIRC. You then went to breakfast on their dime at a local cafe. Once you passed the tv cameras at the 34th St. store entrance, the balloons were then deflated by just unzipping them. That helium was so cold that it dried out your fingers immediately if you weren't wearing gloves. Good memories, man.
I can't believe we live in a world where a goddamn NFT character is a Macy's Parade balloon now.
WHAT.
@@astrowolvez Oh yeah, there's a balloon for an NFT character in the Macy's Parade now despite how I thought NFTs were dead.
@@anamelessyoutuber1462it shouldn’t be a surprise, though. Since the macys parade has been supporting these useless things since the start of the 2020s. And I feel sick to my stomach because of that lol.
We truly live in a society.
I’m sorry WHAT?!
this parade is like the equivalent of the michelin stars for macy-something that i can’t figure out HOW it connects to the company’s concept
… you know how the stars are connected to food though, right?
@@Allegedly_Angel i will admit, no i do not 😥
@@NebulousartMichelin (the tire company) used to put out travel guides to promote people traveling in their cars, and somehow their food reviews became a prestigious indicator of quality.
@@Nebulousartmichelin wanted to encourage tourism/roadtrips to raise tire sales so they created the michelin star system to be like "look at all these cool restaurants you're missing out on because you don't road trip! go on a road trip (but buy our tires to do it plz) basically
The Thanksgiving parade is a great way to get tourists into the city just in time for holiday deals and events that start the next morning. What kid never wanted to see the famous Macy's Santa, who finally arrives Thanksgiving morning?
It’s my tradition to watch the parade every year. I’m a NY native and I’ve never seen it in person, but I’ll HAPPILY watch on the couch with my coffee every year lol. It’s just such a staple of the season and the work that goes into the entire production blows my mind
Scott is my window to see what normal America is like (if not I only see the derangement and idiocy that goes viral) and I looove it. My fave video was the one where he went to roadtrip through a road that had big metal sculptures of animals ❤
Actually love Scott inviting those who aren’t celebrating the holidays with family to spend it with him. That’s a really sweet sentiment, thanks Scott!
As a non-American, learning about American history and culture is often depressing and infuriating. But not on this channel baby. Scotty is focused on the most wholesome aspects of the country and now I want to visit small time America. My man, the North Dakota tourism board should sponsor you.
I feel the same as you and Im an American (sadly).
Here's a positive tjing i love about my state, california: we have such a large spread of biomes and biodiversity that you can see an incredible amount of different types of nature just by vacationing from south to north or vice versa. Highly recommend. Also we had a city named Weed before it was made legal 🤣
@@kharmachaos667 I've been to California once! Went on a road trip and saw everything from Joshua Tree to the Humboldt Redwoods. You live in a beautiful place.
You should give it a watch sometime. I think recordings are put online for a while before being taken down.
I just want to say how refreshing it is to watch someone who seems like a genuinely kind, fun person. Thanks, Scott :) Hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving!
I'm Canadian so our Thanksgiving is earlier but the Friends Thanksgiving episodes always are something I feel that will put you in "the mood"
I forgot about those! They are amazing!
Honestly, I have never made it all the way through watching a the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I was usually hiding out in my room avoiding my family and popping in the kitchen to help get the meal put together. Disappointed that I didn't know there was a Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends Float until now D:
Yes! I only now saw the Foster’s float.
I live my whole life just waiting for the next Macy's thanksgiving day parade
The movie Tower Heist has a pretty big scene that takes place during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and it’s a pretty underrated movie
Scott: Name one bad thing that happened in 2008.
The financial crisis: *visibly sweating*
Ah yes, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. An event with beautiful floats, large balloons of various IPs, band performances, musical numbers on floats, and it all ends with a Santa Claus float. Iconic. :)
I used to love waking up every Thanksgiving morning to watch the parade, but as I got older I noticed more and more how the broadcast is 75% commercials, 15% musical acts and 10% parade footagae
Kit Kitteredge is my favorite thanksgiving movie! It's got its sad moments but a happy ending :)
"A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" was one my family would watch :)
Just popping in to say I love how positive your videos always are, the vibes are just wonderful every time. It’s also strange watching a content creator from my region of the states, you say something in every video that makes me go like “hey! I know that thing!” and that’s priceless in and of itself
I went with the Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade last year and had a great time! I don’t have any special “insider” information, but we did practice in the middle of New York at like 3 am.
bob's burgers always has the best thanksgiving episodes. they're great if you want wholesome and ridiculous family thanksgiving stories
“the great thanksgiving day parade” is such a dad answer 😭
I love the parade! Despite living so close, I've never seen it in person (because good god I am not a morning person.) But sometimes I get to see the balloons being blown up to go through a practice run, before the parade. It's great tbh.
I never watched the parade when it came on but I feel like I was missing out on a lot and now Scott is making sure I'm caught up, doing saints work Cramer 😤
Free Birds is THE Thanksgiving movie. It’s about two turkeys who go back in time to the first thanksgiving, to get Turkeys of the menu.
That’s right *THEY’RE GOING BACK IN TIME TO THE FIRST THANKSGIVING TO GET TURKEYS OF THE MENU!*
Bobs burgers has some great thanksgiving episodes and is one of the only shows I know that consistently does thanksgiving episodes every season and not just as a one off
Scott needs to watch the Gossip Girl Thanksgiving episodes. Also, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving was RIGHT there lol.
I was in the parade with miss America and behind this scenes is insane. Everything moves as smooth as butter and it’s so impressive to see. It was a great time 10/10 recommend if you ever get the chance!
What's crazy is that I've never heard it referred to as the "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" but it still captures the exact panicked energy as navigating your local Macy's
Listen to that one hype Thanksgiving song that goes: "oh my my get that turkey in my belly! Oh my my with the cranberry jelly! Oh my my come on and sing it with me! Happy Thanksgiving!!!" Its such a great song.
Thank you for the loving outro. I’m thankful for my husbands family but don’t have anyone on my side and it’s easy to feel a bit alone. I’m also freshly postpartum so I definitely needed that kind and warm energy. Thank you for filling space when I need it.
i am always struggling without scott
its always sunny in philadelphia, the gang squashes their beefs is a great thanksgiving episode
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is a great thanksgiving movie!
Home for the Holidays is one of my all time favorite thanksgiving movies! It's such a good snapshot of family dynamics for better and for worse! Funny and also sometimes a tear jerker! I highly recommend!
Bob's burgers always has banging thanksgiving episodes. And nightmare before Christmas is the ultimate thanksgiving movie.
Planes Trains and Automobiles is the goat of thanksgiving movies
My family loves the parade. We watch it every year, not only because of the festive floats but also because we banter and bicker about the balloons, floats, and performers the entire time. 😂 you wouldn’t believe the amount of funny and meme-able moments that comes out of the parade and I’m SHOCKED the internet doesn’t have people making annual videos about the chaos in the parade. It’s honestly a hidden gold mine!! 🤣 Also the dog show right after?!?! It’s perfect! After a couple hours of laughing, you can absolutely melt over the cutest dogs you’ve ever seen!!
It’s literally the perfect precursor for a big family feast. Everyone is in a good mood, we’re all hungry by the time we’ve had our fill around the tv, and usually the food is ready by that time (my family eats Thanksgiving dinner at around 2 pm. Fight me; it’s literally the best time to eat. You eat early, you go watch a movie, play games, take a nap, whatever you want that year, and then eat dessert at around dinner time. Then you’re also not dying with a full stomach by the time you sleep. And if you’re not cooking food the day(s) before Thanksgiving, you’re doing it wrong. I’ll take questions.)
somehow Scott always manages to make a video about a niche topic that i’m for some reason interested in
Hey Scott here’s a thanksgiving movie to get you in the mood. Watch free birds the movie where they go back in time to get turkeys off the menu
The Peanuts Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special is an annual tradition at out house. The one where Snoopy makes the thanksgiving meal. The kids get all upset because the popcorn and toast are lame. They all leave for grandma's house. Then, Snoopy pulls out the turkey and all the proper fixins, and with the kids gone, only Snoopy and Woodstock are there to enjoy ot. Woodstock eating another bird is slightly disturbing, but it's Thanksgiving.
Home for the Holidays is a great movie!! I remember loving miracle on 34th street as a kid too 😊
Hey Scott. Love your channel and I always feel like you're constantly slept on. Glad to see you making your way to 1 mil. Happy Thanksgiving and hope your family's well ❤
W Scott has been pumping content lately and in the holiday season! Thank you ❤
I know Scott already mentioned it but Spider-Man is truly my favorite Thanksgiving movie. As for Macy's, while I don't watch it every year, I love the parade when I get to. Also I really like the Charlie Brown specials this time of year. Happy Thanksgiving to the Cramer family and all who watch this before the holiday tomorrow.
been havin a rough go of it these holidays, spent far away from home at uni (cramming my dissertation draft), and i always defer to scott's channel when i need just... a cosy pick-me-up. glad to hear you're offering to share the holiday season with us - it is much appreciated!
Your son is absolutely adorable! Good job!👍
Hey Scott, just last year I had the once in a lifetime experience of actually being in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with my university’s marching band! So I was so excited I am to see that you made a video on this topic! I was born and raised in Minnesota and frequent the Fargo/Morehead area because most of my family lives there! You are hands down one of my absolute favorite RUclipsrs and one that I often turn to for comfort. Hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!
Really? You forgot the classics of the Peanuts Thanksgiving special and the Garfield Thanksgiving special? Those two have a special place in my heart.
Friends is iconic for thanksgiving episodes
When you started going into that spots break, I immediately thought you were about to talk about the midnight lux mattress from helix sleep and I feel lied to. I thought you got good enough sleep just on the mattress you didn’t need a magic powder. Just kidding love the content, Scott,.
The Charlie Brown and Garfield Thanksgiving specials are short, but really good. And the film Mr. Fantastic Fox has Thanksgiving vibes.
you make america sound so nice in your videos. Im always filled with joy watching you love your home. thanks for another great video
Happy thanksgiving Scott!
I would love to see a tier list of all the parade balloons. That sounds like a video you should make.
Clicked on the video as soon as I saw it! My band is performing in the parade this year :)
Love your videos, Scott

Pray for me this Thanksgiving, these past three years have been difficult on me. Jesus give me guidance please. I don’t know how much longer I can hold on. I’m so tired of struggling every month to get by. As a single mom things are hard on me both of my sons are autistic and I’m constantly struggling to provide the basic necessities for them I’m so ashamed. I suffered an heart attack two years ago and still battling lupus I’m so overwhelmed. Give me strength Lord as I constantly struggle to pay bills and constantly struggle to buy groceries for my children. BUT no matter what I KEEP FAITH. Even though the devil wants me to give up. Jesus please take the fear from me. Please save me and my children from this demonic world.
Don't let scott know about the 2008 housing crisis, it'll ruin his day.
The best Thanksgiving movie... Planes, Trains, and Automobiles! Also the Thanksgiving TV episode of WKRP in Cincinnati....epic!
ty for this video it really was wholesome and really got me in the mood for thanksgiving, i am blessed that i have food this year and no matter how small or big your thanksgiving is as long as you have family or good friends or even just yourself we need to remember to be thankful for the things we have, So microwave that tv dinner with some beer or bake that giant turkey with mashed potatoes and greens with some mac, i genuinly hope everyone has something to eat on this day.
God bless you brother and have a happy holiday! ❤
Finally somebody said it, 2008 was indeed top tier! For me 2008 and 2009 The fact that I could even barely remember anything but is 100% sure everything was awesome back then
are we really not going to talk about it

THANK YOU I WAS SO CONFUSED WHEN I SAW NO COMMENTS OR MENTION OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE PARADE, IM WONDERING IF SCOTT MAYBE BLOCKED SOME WORDS BECAUSE THERES NO WAY NO ONES MENTIONED IT BUT I CANT FIND ANYTHING…
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS….
thank you for this scott! what a good vibe
Happy Thanksgiving Scott!
So apparently, this year's balloon lineup has an equal amount of anime characters and Illumination characters. Let that sink in.
Hi Scott/Strugglers,
I'm a queer person and I'm pretty much estranged from my extended family. I was actually feeling pretty blue today when I realized I don't think I have any good thanksgiving memories, and I won't be celebrating tomorrow. This video cheered me up though, I really appreciate how positive and fun this channel is, it really put a smile on my face. I might even tune in for the parade tomorrow. Thank you, Scott. I hope everyone celebrating has a nice thanksgiving, and I hope anyone who isn't has a peaceful day. ❤
Oh yeah, and I think the Slapsgiving episode of How I Met Your Mother is pretty iconic!
I grew up watching the parade - my father was a former NY’er so we got some of his native New Yorker stories about the parade. I love it and can’t imagine not watching it. Thank you for this video Scott!!!
It’s not explicitly set at Thanksgiving, but last year my friends and I watched knives out as our Thanksgiving movie, it captures the vibe of family getting on each other’s nerves pretty well
over the garden wall is a great fall show
Dutch starring Ed O'Neill from 1991, the only thanksgiving movie I know of and watch every year.
I love watching Friends thanksgiving episodes every year. Supergirl also gives thanksgiving some love as it has three episodes throughout it’s 6 seasons dedicated to thanksgiving. Also The Vampire Diaries has a Friendsgiving episode in season 6.
Celebrating the holiday with your videos man
scott planes trains and automobiles is considered the greatest thanksgiving movie ever
Thank you so much for a holiday video that isn’t Christmas/Halloween themed (although I love them), it’s rare people do “holiday specials” when it comes to the channels I watch so thank you🫶🏼 Even if it’s a short one! Sometimes that’s needed. Happy thanksgiving!!
Bobs burgers have amazing thanksgiving episodes. My family and I always rewatch just those episodes every thanksgiving. Tomorrow is my first thanksgiving home in years so I’m excited to continue the tradition.
Son In Law is the best Thanksgiving movie
Where I live we call the sleepiness after eating a lot of food the 'after dinner dip' which perfectly encapsulates the feelings you get after a large meal
Great video! Happy Thanksgiving ❤
Love Scott’s videos when I need my wholesomeness fix. Thanks my dude. You’re a real one
I've been to the parade several times in person. Best way to see it is from a hotel room along the route. We got super lucky one year and was able to book one. Rolled out of bed Thanksgiving morning, popped on a winter hat and stuck my head out the window. Those balloons are scary as hell up close.
1:32 the dad needs a Oscar
9:43 This is extremely true. Last year, I was apart of the parade, my college marching band was apart of the parade and participating was amazing. Its something Ill never forget. Seeing New York was also amazing.
Free Birds is a good movie to watch.
The combination of Scott’s voice plus the into music is sooooo soothing 💕😂
