"Architecture of Agression" goes hand in hand with this song IMHO.
Think less 'depression and more 'Jekyll & Hyde': He feels the version of him that people know isn't the REAL him. He puts on a facade because the REAL him screws the hell out of everyone, so he keeps it trapped within his own mind. The song itself was based on various 'incidents' that happened courtesy of hallucinogens or narcotics, I think.

Dave Mustaine struggled with heroin and alcohol addiction and this album the did while he was going through a dry out cycle. You get the feeling he had a lot of time to think.

I don’t believe he is literally in prison :) he does seem to have some kind of mental illness attacking him so I’m sure he FEELS imprisoned.
To be honest I am not positive in my interpretation, but he obviously is having a some kind of breakdown not knowing what he has done or where he has been, where he is at. Could be a legitimate mental illness, drugs, could just be left to your imagination. But Dave is really good at this forth!
