One week on from his passing, this footage defines how I choose to remember Sean which is to say, the exact the same way I first became aware of him: a driver blessed with a effortless speed, car control and an elephants memory to remember every bump, compression and camber to set the car up so he could do stuff no one else could. All signed off of course, with a quite remarkable level of composure behind the wheel (see video above), racecraft and judgement.
Rest in peace Sean. We miss you.
Incredible driving skills. What an intense race with the blue 911. Doesn't get any better than that.
Wow! I did not expect to get that into this clip. Entertaining for sure to see a racer so in control and at a different level than his competition. A shame to lose talent like that. RIP Sean.
He overtook everything he came across whether they were in a faster car or talented too...but unlike Dale Earnhardt he never pushed anyone out if the way to get by. He was precise and always looking several moves ahead sizing up his next victim without losing his flow and rhythm. Truly magical command of his machine, while almost motionless in his seat...except for his rapier like flick of the shifter, always in the correct gear, never over doing any transition, or shift....and to focus that intently during the high speed chaos and for a LONG time. Simply sublime, he was truly doing what he was gifted to do...and I'm kinda proud it was in my fav marque as well. There is no substitute for the man or the machine.
Incredible to watch! So smooth. Never hesitates. Retains absolute concentration and fights till the bitter end.
Epic driving. Ultra smooth, deliberate, relaxed, he hangs back and wide and never seems to get greedy for the apex. He's courteous, patient, and so damn fast. You in that car is a very inspiring thing for us hacks.
Best onboard on RUclips
Wow. What a drive! From reading the comments I learned he died a couple of years later. I don't recall seeing him race before but his performance here was amazing. I'm sorry to hear about his death. My condolences to his friends and family.
R.I.P., Sean Edwards.
this is absolutely mesmerising. flawless driving. so cool, collected and patient. I watched the whole hour and 3 odd minutes and it flew by. and in that hour of driving he only showed his "displeasure" once at 58:52 when the other car changed position on track too late. I think a lot of F1 drivers could learn a lot from this guy. hats off
I watched this several times. Gret driver, car and camera angles. Missing was a speed - tach camera view.
Thank you very much for this fantastic video!
RIP Sean ...
Very skilled driver, extremely fast! It's a pleasure viewing him at the wheel! RIP
This is one of the best drive's I've seen. Well done.
Boy, he was quick. He made it look like he was racing against a class below his.
He was racing against classes below his. He qualified in last of 150 or so entries - must have been a tech problem or penalty. He actually started around 115th though. The next car up the track in his class would have been around 70th. Still was very talented.
@@SPCEMN3 he is in a cup spec car, so every Porsche you see is either equal or higher spec, not lower. He is racing against fully fledged GT3 cars in a cup spec.
@@silversteve-o68 Look at title bro hes in a GT3. The blue sex bomb porsche was a gt3 aswell you could see

What a battle! Now this is what I call racing! Enjoyed watching it very much.
That was incredible to watch, patient, skilful and very talented ... truly fabulous. I was very sad to hear his loss of life at only 26 as a result of being a passenger in a car.
Really phenomenal driving, impressive precision
Amazing! Although, I'd love a little rear view mirror in the screen.
Kudos to all the Engineers, Mechanics and Sean Edwards for showing us what a true track weapon should be.
RIP. Still one of the best onboard videos ever...
wow , great pilot !!! thx for this video !
This is very nice driving and course line! Cornering over take is perfect!!! Nice guy👍👍👍
buen video de recuerdo de este gran piloto. Saludos al cielo Sean!!
The cross under at 28:20 is art
Expert driving by Sean lapping under 8:50 the Nurburgring North Loop, highlights 0:6:48 show how a green Alfa Romeo starts oversteering as it negotiates the Caracciola Karussell but expertly corrected, fierce battling with black/blue Porsche 997 for over 13 min finally passing at 0:28:35, fighting white Porsche 997 #90 from 0:38:55 and passing at 0:45:50, only to be passed by same at 0:53:25 and chasing it to the end of the video
Great breakdown WITH time stamps! Legend🙌🏽
Wooooooooooooooow I'm amazed it's super cool, wish I can drive that car some they... But I new that's only in my dreams....
Great pilot , super fast , I think in any sport the champion have to stop for ever after made the top of the top of them self and enjoy the life and the memory of all the records until the last day . RIP Sean
I now understand his performances in the Supercup championship, he is mega smooth!
Great racing! Those back markers were a pain
That's the freaking machine singing!!
The BEST song ever!!!!!!!!!!!
Super merci pour cette caméra embarquée
This was thrilling to watch!
In my humble opinion the loss of Sean Edwards was one of the biggest losses to Motorsport. He would have gone on to achieve so much. The car positioning and overtaking is done with precision .
Excelente video muy buen piloto ....asombrosa carrera...sub
i like your car...god job & bravoo....!!!
My hero. RIP Brother.
It's not widely known but Sean was also an active sim-racer and had been since his days as a young kart driver in the UK. He used to come race with us then driving "Grand Prix Legends" [@ VROC], and was very enthusiatic about all of it, not just his father's Historic Formula One racing. He continued with it up to, and maybe through, the advent of the original "rFactor" racing sim: www.enduracers.com/readme/readme/EnduranceSeriesv4/es_readme_credits.html
Damn. The skill of this is amazing. No automatic changing gears right here.
Name one racing series that has automatic gearboxes...
El Ciervo Formula 1? 🤷🏼♂️
@@dj.excess Nope, drivers decide when to shift.
El Ciervo lol. Paddle shifters are still ran by the automatic transmission.
@@dj.excess That's not what automatic transmission means? Besides what's the difference? This guy just has to pull or push on a stick. No lifting the throttle, no pressing the clutch, no heal'n'toe action... electronic fuel cut does the important bit. The rest is just about whether you can keep both hands on the wheel.
I didn't know that this person is no longer here until the video ends and I read comments.
What a shame, still young yet he's 1 lap ahead to the other world. RIP
Awesome skills.
What a ride! 😎❤
Damn his mid corner speed is really impressive. Toughest part of racing imo. RIP Sean Edwards.
Amazing driver!
omg im 53 and im still dreaming about this ,
Very good driver and incredible car.👍
R.I.P. Edwards. :(
GREAT RIDE MAN.....EDGE OF MY SEAT!!!!!
Just heard now, RIP Sean such a joy to watch.
One hour of pure enjoy!
Sean Edwards, chapeau.
This guy is a hell of a driver!! man….
Amazing driving!
Asleep is what I was BEFORE pressing the "Play" button. By the first 10 minutes I understood that this video is a hard core porn for the petrolheads. My adrenaline went to the red zone again!!! Thanks guys. Now I'm trying to calm down....
What a driver... Wow
Anyone know what he was signalling to the black Porsche after he passed him around 28:30? I am guessing he was saying that he was blocking a little too aggressively? Brilliant video and a brilliant driver!
Epic racing, greaaat driver. Pure skills there. Plus, you gotta respect the green hell.
19:00 every gtsport player would have send it
Impressive throttle to wheel control
I don't know, how to compare this driver to others. I mean - I don't know technical specifications of other cars, how many time he spend on track (I mean training) and how many time other drivers spend on practice laps, and how much money has this team. I think that it is interesting to compare, because - if we will change drivers on the same car/ same team how will change results?
Look at his line choice. How he enters and exits corners. How he uses the car’s momentum to his advantage. Look at how balanced his car is when he enters sections. He kept the car’s attitude ready for the next move. All these things are what makes for great drivers, a natural feel.
@@villedocvalle from TC (timecode) 0:00 till TC 28-25, as I see, he was like pilot with more powerful car (engine, gears ratio, etc), because he overtaked others easily, on TC 28-25 -- same power, but not clean driving, on TC 45:45 he used mistake, but, on TC 53:32 - as you see, he was overtaken by more powerful car, and on TC 57:08, as you see, man:) And finally, from 56:39, when we see really better technique and more powerful car, we had other result. Nothing, but analysis.
É muita condução em pista!! 😂👍👏👏Parabéns 👌😂😂

What a driver!
Super danke
wow he is flying !!
I've done thousands of laps on this track in grand turismo, can only dream of doing it in real life
c'est une propultion ou une 4 roue motrice ?
Besides the insane driving, these sounds, the enginge ,the gearbox just everything, sex is nothing against this
Ein Porsche hat die Startnummer 69 und hinten steht sex bomb drauf :DD
Das ist nichtmal zufall ;)
Sean Edwards was an incredible driver, and this video is proof. He is patient, level headed, and aggressive when it suits him. The most impressive though, to me, is the consistency and simplicity to his driving style. He never overdrives the car. You watch some onboard videos with drivers sawing at the wheel...Not this guy.
i wish he has in Le Mans before he passed - he would be a really good driver in a Porsche in GT Pro class
I fully agree with you. Fantastic driving skills.
He passed away? OMG Such talent!
He is letting the car do the work.
True
simply awesome
This is extraordinary driving. I didn't know who he was, but I read all about him after watching this video. RIP Sean.
Aris Konstantinidis how did he die?
G Kess while coaching a customer , customer crashed the car at the track and he died
@@288gto7 that shit is so sad i read this after of watch the great Video !
@@288gto7 that's awful I never knew Sean before this video
@@288gto7 what about the customer?
Sean Edwards was one of those naturally gifted pilots. An aggressive driving style, but he did it in a very relaxed way, taking his time to creep up on someone to then overtake decisively and mercilessly. Such a shame he lost his life in such a stupid accident through no fault of his own.
For those wondering he's keeping up with full spec GT3 cars and RSR's in a Cup Car, that are two classes above him, this is simply amazing, RIP.
he´s driving a full spect gt3 car aswell
Dennis Rudson didnt know an 997 mk1 cup is an full spec gt3 car
It's in the title says 997 gt3 cup...
@@debbierigby6304 The problem is that the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car is not a full spec GT3 class car. In the 997 generation 911 Porsche actually had 5 models which had "GT3" in their name, but only one was a "GT3 spec" car. There was the road going standard GT3, a different road car called the GT3 RS, a racing version of the RS called the RSR, a Porsche cup racing version of the standard GT3 model called the GT3 cup (which Sean drove in this video) and finally an FIA GT3 spec racing version of the standard road going GT3 called the GT3 R. Confusing enough? The reason for this is that Porsche started naming their models GT3 before GT3 even became a racing class, so they're just continuing the tradition. They first used it on the 996 generation 911 I believe, which came out in 1999 whilst the GT3 class was created in 2005. So yes, Sean is actually driving a cup car, which is a lower class than FIA GT3 spec and lower class than the GT3 RSR. This stuff is even confusing for a Porsche fanboy like myself so it's understandable that you got bamboozled by it.
@@racefan5719 if im wrong im sorry brow 😎
WHAT A DRIVER !!! Every single decision was the correct one and he picked up time everywhere, on the GP section he was incredibly fast, even passing a couple of GT3's with more BHP. RIP Sean, a great loss the the world of motorsport and to the VLN especially.
Pure school driving example. All entry points, every apex and exit point precisely executed.Amazing driving, enjoyment to watch. Thank you for this moments.
I had never seen this footage. But here I am in 2019 watching this absolute monster of a driver thinking "Wow, that is just exceptional level of talent" He was one with the car and that is rare and a joy to watch. Requiescat in pace Sean!
Did anyone notice "SEX BOMB" livery on that other Porsche?
yep, and the cars number is 69, Figure that..LOL
K9-1000 I did and just shook my head, wondering what kind of how on earth anyone with an otherwise cool Porsche would want to ruin it by calling it sex bomb. 😁😁 Guess the driver/owner was Hungus Dickus.
I did
Who didn't?

Man I’ve become such a huge fan of Sean Edwards sadly after he passed. I’ve watched so many of his races. He was a phenomenal driver and his loss is a loss for all of Motorsport.
28:22 that moment when he surpasses that guy... that was a great feeling
Alex Cyan who was in the other car? brilliant drive both of them!
He told him to push him to the front. Drive together in other words. It's faster that way without passing.
which guy?
I jumped to 25 minutes to enjoy the set-up and was screaming when he finally got by him the time you mentioned.
Incredible battle, would’ve loved to see the onboard from the civic when they passed on either side!
I love how he goes to the outside and aims right for the apex. Awesome lines.
exactly my thought! I use it in SIM and now learned even better from watching him, Such awesome lines.
Def taking notes for GT sport 😂
he was well regarded by the likes of Mark Webber, so tragic
I just stumbled across this video and this guy is incredible I'm sorry to hear about that
Big talent. RIP, brother.
