Front Brakes 11 CV Traction Avant

Removal and mouting of a front brake drum of an 11 CV Citroën Traction Avant. Also the use of a special gauge to check the centricity of the brake shoes is demonstrated. The spoken text is in Dutch.

Wat een interessante techniek aan zo'n ouder ontwerp. Mooi (en kostbaar) gemaakt.
Later kozen bijna alle fabrikanten voor splines, die zijn minder afhankelijk van hert aantrekkoppel op de centrale bout.
De remstelbouten waren in 1967 ook nog op de B-kadett te vinden...je moest ze vaak bijstellen. De C-kadett had schijven voor, na 1973.
Het betere is de vijand van het goede, dat is de definitie van evolutie.

Thanks for uploading this; it is useful, but unfortunately it skips over some important parts of the procedure and I am unable to quite understand what they have done. If anyone knows any links where the whole procedure is done slowly could you please post them here?

An easier way to install the return spring is to let the brake shoes come close as possible with the adjusters, install the spring, then move the shoes outward, then install the cylinder.

Well..... it was all going so well and then you FAILED to use a torque wrench to achieve the 330NM torque on the nut (as clearly stated in the handbook) when reassembling? Quelle horreur. Simply guessing the torque on such an important aspect of the car is VERY bad practice indeed. Thumbs down on this dreadful example.
