It's been a while since you posted this comment, but if you see Malenia jump up to do waterfowl dance, you have just enough time to throw a freezing pot at her; if she's not already afflicted with frost, she'll drop right out of the move. You technically have enough time to do the same for this attack, but you can't avoid the first phantom if you do. I'm also grateful for this video since I have the entire rest of the fight locked down for a perfect kill, except this damn move. Wish me luck.
I agree I can dodge the waterfall constantly now but Im stuck being one shot by this one. Il on attempt 97 at the moment (no summon and no opti build nor katana)
I didn't think so, I thought waterfowl was way harder since I see this attack only in phase 2 and maybe once but I died to waterfowl well over 40 times before I learned how to dodge it.

that's how i feel about waterfowl considering unlocking your camera is almost necessary this one feels more reasonable from a design perspective, just more difficult
@@dilsco you dont have to unlock camera, run away when it starts, when she starts the second part, dodge into her, then on the third part, dodge straight back twice

I can't believe it. I killed her second try after this video. This attack always threw me off guard, but managed to dodge it this time and heal up again. I had like 10 rune arcs left at this point, and i had never ever used any before her. It must have been my 80th try or something. Thank you
Thanks a lot. Coming back to this game, I just realized that this attack is so annoying. Harder than waterfowl, that 5th attack always gets me. Also, the fact that one could throw freeze pots at her to stop the waterfowl attack, but if she gets hit during this clone phase, she'll just get back up in the air and continue the clone barrage. It's so aggravating.

Finally, after a couple hundreds of tries I finally beat her with a buckler and the black knife. This was the last píece of the puzzle I'm extremely grateful for the concise tutorial !

The second move that can be argued to be cheap design by the devs to almost always make sure you get hit. I don't care what anyone says, this fight had some serious cheap bullshit in it fromsoft put in just to make it more "difficult."

Thanks for making this, I figured out how to deal with flurry on my own but I just could not with this move, I never thought to roll forward because of that wind gust below here and some of the clones do thrusts but hey if it works, it works!
On NG+6 and have been struggling with this attack in every single NG. Usually on med load you can perfect dodge all the phantoms without having to have one fly over ur head. On light load (obviously not 100% sure about this) it seems like ur roll lasts too long to be able to dodge the last phantom as in the buffer timings just dont line up, forcing u to do it this way with one flying over u. I consider this move absolute bs since it wasn't designed with all load weights in mind. This video has immensely helped me visualize how to dodge it now tho. Still stupid that you have to be at the exact right spacing to dodge it on light roll

A lot of people don’t know that you can literally make your way/roll into her to dodge them I run past the first then roll the second and third and then the 4th just skims past me 😅 took me hours and hours but I did it and had to see “easy way” when this isn’t “easier” but is sure as 💩 looks cooler than my way! Kudos! 🎉

This is cool an all, but there is still one situation where you can’t win. If you move to attack and she decides at that moment to start this move (and she sometimes will) then you get stuck in the rot pool beneath her. Sometimes it’ll just stunlocks you to death. There is no way to tell when she’s about to use it, so there’s no way to actually avoid it if she uses it at the wrong time. Waterfowl is doable, but part of this attack is purely RNG.

I'm doing a second run in preparation for the dlc and rushed most bosses with a suboptimal build (a little bit of everything so I can try to use most new weapons and spells) and didn't realize how difficult this attack was on my first run. I just tanked the last few hits but now I need to learn it since she just one shot me at 40 vigor...
the actual move is easy to dodge, i need to figure out how to not die when she starts it cause if she does it when you’re hitting her it just instantly kills you and she heals half of her health
This attack is only bad because we don't get to see it in phase 1. If we can consistently get to 2nd phase then waterfowl is more or less under control, with Aeonia being a timed roll backwards followed by running away, ez.
I'm guessing you have to space properly here? I'm working on my RL1 and I can fairly reliably dodge all her attacks except this. You seem like you're going into the scarlet bullshit that is underneath her, does the hitbox subside on the late clone attacks or are you rolling into it as it's disappearing when she dodges. Bro this attack is bs. I have just killed her after like 10+ hours of trying (no summons ofc). And I was only able to do it because she didn't do this attack luckily.
She does this move every time I'm about to kill her 😐.. I've had her so low and with my summon still healthy and she does this and one shots me lol... I just wanna be done with this bitch. Once I can avoid this attack I'm sure I'll get it. First it was the flower, until I realized you can run behind her (little tip for anyone struggling there). I also noticed omen killer Rollo with the mohg great rune absolutely slaps her around. He does a good job normally but with the added bleed + essentially lord of blood exultation on him, he is a beast. Sadly I made a noob mistake and wasted 2 arcs because my dumbass forgot examining the summoning pool restricts you from using ashes. Big *oof* moment there as I had 3 and almost killed her with 1 😐😐😐

This attacks overwhelms me visually. My brain can not process the visual information fast enough. I just press buttons blindly.
It's because Phase 2 your screen is 80% butterflies and 19% my screams and 1% the characters
The first clone she sends out that attacks twice always gets me. This attack is a lot more difficult to avoid than waterfowl

I get that it's a skill gap but having to learn bosses as a program and not as a reflex based fight kinda breaks the emersion for me

You can do the last roll backwards or to the side, it doesn't really matter on the last one.

See what I usually do is just run as far as possible and hope she doesn’t hit me

No, you can dodge it the same way with the new light roll. You could be even farther away and it would still work.
