    Your videos really break the technique down well and make it easier to understand. I did have a driving instructor but he didn't explain it in this way so this was something that I struggled with and ultimately failed the driving test multiple times. The videos on this channel give me more confidence and now I look forward to attempting to learn to drive again.

    Your videos really helped me, I passed first time today with only 5 minors. I was so nervous and touched the kerb on a parallel park. I also tried to go into 1st gear to make a tight turn, only to accidentally leave it in neutral. I kept trying to move off and a queue started to form behind me. Thankfully I figured it out and got out of the way. I also went a bit too far out when passing a parked vehicle and inadvertently created a meeting point, which the instructor said left the examiner scratching his head. My instructor was as surprised as I was that I passed! The examiner must have seen that I was driving decently for the rest of the test. However, I feel that extra lessons are a definite must for me.

    Struggling with this and test tomorrow!!!!
    How on earth does an inexperience learner get their car into exactly the same starting position, exactly the same distance away from the bays every time. It's impossible and means every time you do it your reference point is slightly out.

    Reverse bay parking is one of the easiest and best parking methods. I suck at parallel parking 😮‍💨

  • @JaayBradyy
    @JaayBradyy 4 года назад +3

    I've been told by my driving instructor that if you reverse more than half way into the bay before re-adjusting you may get marked down with a serious fault, is this true?
    Our practice is to start reversing in, if I notice the lines in the mirrors aren't correct, only reverse half way in, re-adjust by going forward and reversing again, instead of going fully in incorrectly.

  • @CourtneyAmberXx
    @CourtneyAmberXx 2 года назад +3

    Hi there. I have my test on Friday and I'm still worried about this maneuvere as my reference point seems to change from one lesson to the next. One day it will work and I go into the lines perfectly, and the next I won't even though I seem to be doing the exact same thing and I'm worried that I'm going to mess up this maneuvere on my test because of this. I've just realised this could be due to positioning as you said at 1:18, so where do you think I should position to help keep my reference point the same when I'm reverse bay parking to the left? Closer to the left, in the middle or on the right? Thank you!

    • @worlddriving
      @worlddriving  2 года назад +3

      Hi! Try staying in the middle every time. Don't lean forward when you look at any reference points otherwise they will always be different.
      Don't forget if it all goes wrong just pull forward out of the bay and correct it back in (keep observing for others).
      You could also try moving one of your side mirrors down so that you can see if you're going into the bay (don't stare at it).
      Good luck 👍

    Hi just want to ask on correcting the reverse bay. How far do I need to drive to correct it if there's cars beside? Do I have to drive past the car before steering to either side to correct it. THANKS.

  • @Bangandthedirtisgone
    @Bangandthedirtisgone 2 года назад

    Good vid but you can't gauge if you're straight by looking at a wall/kerb ahead of you in all cases. I was taught the same but often I've found I'm lined up with what's ahead (at 90 degrees to it anyway) but checking my side mirrors reveals I'm not straight in the bay. I think this because not all carparks are perfect rectangles with what's ahead of you perfectly parallel to what's behind.

    This way of learning never did it for me, following this specific method never works for me because some bays are different and you're not going to get the exact reference point everytime for that bay size and just because of human error so I found it much better to just be judging distance and speed of steering and just using my own gut feel of how to get into the bay.

    • @worlddriving
      @worlddriving  5 лет назад +7

      Hi! You're totally right. Using your judgement is the best way to do all the different reverse exercises. Some people prefer reference points to get them started but move onto improving and relying on their judgement instead as they build up experience 🙂

    • @jondoe173
      @jondoe173 5 лет назад +5

      @@worlddriving Yea that's fair, I suppose you do need to get the basics of it before you can really start judging things on your own, I just wish my instructor said "look, its ok to not use this exact method and to try and judge things by yourself". Your mock test videos helped me so much and I passed my test last week, thank you so much, really.

      Hi! Using your own judgement is the best way to do all the reversing exercises but some new drivers like to start with reference points. But over time they improve their judgement of steering and positioning and rely less on exact points. Experience counts for a lot but also having the chance to practice and find out what works best for you 🙂
