      From generation to generation, a 6900xt has 80 CU, 16gb ram, a 7800xt has 60 cu, 16gb ram and matches its performance.
      7900xt has 84 CU, 20gb ram, so it should, IF generation to generation continues, at least match it if not be slightly faster. (8800xt 64 cu, 20gb ram)
      I know theres a lot of other factors, but IF it matches the 7900xt at $500-$600, it will sell.
      But this is AMD, they'll price it at $700 if not more, then theres scalpers and all the new stupid incoming tariffs will mark it up even more. Plus, AMD would be cut throating themselves hard at $500-$600.
      You can get a 4070 ti super for $800.
      7900xt is all over the map with price, anywhere from $625 to $1000, personally I wouldnt buy anything else than Sapphire or direct from AMD,
      8800xt will match 7900xt / 4070 ti super and be $700, calling it now.
      What will happen is at launch it will have all kinds of bugs and be worse than those two cards, then 6 months later when they get the drivers sorted, it will match those cards... thats possibly October of next year.
      Supposedly its being mass produced mid December. Chinese New Year starts end of January, 30th or 31st. That means at least 2 weeks off for all of Asia, in China its a whole month.
      Realistically, this launches sometime in March. More than likely mid or end of March.
      This is best case scenario.

      they've obviously looked at what people are buying and they have targeted that, what's the point in putting in the money in another 8900 xtx when looking at steam hardware survey's there's like 1.5% of gamers that buy 4080/4090/7900 xtx level of hardware.
      7800 xt sold really well for an AMD card as it offered great value for money. I think if they master the £499 card with at least 30% increase per gen, they'll claw that market share. It's what they did with CPU's really, offered great value low - mid range gaming focused CPU's compared to intel and look how that situation turned out.

    Give us a 30 - 40% increase in raster compared to 7800 xt at that £499 price tag and people will be happy.
    We need to go back to getting value for money. PC hardware and gaming in general are in a bad spot. Things getting too expensive and literally no games coming out that warrant upgrades.
    I plan upgrading every 2 generations and only when there’s a game I’m interested in my current hardware would struggle to run. Not into paying £1000 to play the same games for the third time but with a few extra frames.

If they just re-launched the 7900 XTX, with a better fabric, and some better RT (and nothing else), priced right it would make a great 2025 "upper mid" or "lower-upper" card. As for die size, the interesting one is Navi 44, where I have seen numbers between 130mm^2 and 200mm^2. Compare that to the huge 406mm^2 size of the B580, and the 8600XT will be much, much cheaper to make, and should draw much less power, meaning that the card itself will be much cheaper to make. So..., if the 8600XT is much cheaper to make, and somewhat faster than the B580, then yes, Intel can sell some Battlemages in December and January before the 8600 XT comes out, but once the 8600XT comes out, AMD can match or underprice the B580, if they should choose to. Intel will never make money selling a 406mm^2 die on a big three-fan card for $249.

People get giddy about AMD, but they forget that nvidia and intel are still the giants in the market. However this kind of showing is just not good enough. Way too much pandering to the shareholders looking for their short term fix is putting them in a poor position. 12gb will make do if you don't run ultra with raytracing and to be honest the B580 probably doesn't have the grunt to do that without tanking the framerate.
      But 12gb is marginal now as a max settings 1080 card, let alone a 1440.
      Really, 12gb should be the minimum for any card around the 4060 Ti/7600XT performance level, and even down around 4060 or 7600 level 10 gb should be a minimum now.
      8gb is really for 1080 medium no RT now, and many games demand at least minimum levels of raytracing now.

    If AMD isn't near 100% gains in RT performance they're hurting because even Intel 2nd gen GPUs will beat them. So, raster needs to increase about 25% going from the 7800 to the 8800 and same with the 7600 to 8600. That's it, because those GPUs arefine fine at their targeted resolution (1080p - 2K). Adding 25% will do them well. But RT performance has to jump 100% or 2X what RDNA 3 is. It HAS to or AMD is in trouble.

      Seems unlike this time around. Performance should be slightly better than a 7900 XT (Raster) if we use RE4 as a benchmark (the game the leaks are based on). Type: '7900 XT vs 4080 in RE4' into the search bar, you'll notice it almost matches the 4080 in performance (because AMD GPUs do very well in this particular title). So if the 8800XT does roughly the same as the 4080 in that game (as per the leak), then we can infer that performance should be roughly 7900XT Tier.

    Ah yes the usual leaks claiming miracles from AMD. Are we really supposed to believe that AMD making relatively small changes to their RT pipeline suddenly results in far better proportional performance than Nvidia even though they're currently still far behind Nvidia's original implementation in the 20 series? Especially after the PS5 Pro's RT improvements (which are supposedly the same as RDNA4's) turned out to amount to pretty much nothing?

    • @hasnihossainsami8375
      @hasnihossainsami8375 Месяц назад +7

      Doubling of RT cores per CU isn't exactly a "small pipeline change." The only reason why AMD has been behind Nvidia all this time is because Nvidia simply dedicates a lot more silicon to RT cores and Tensor cores. AMD's RT cores are significantly smaller, hence why their performance is so poor. Even Intel Arc Alechemist has larger RT cores, which is why their RT is miles ahead of AMD, and has Tensor cores, which is why their hardware-accelerated XeSS is also far superior to AMD's software-accelerated FSR.
      It's all about what you're doing with the silicon, and AMD simply chose not to have any Tensor cores and skimp on the RT cores. It allowed them to make cheaper GPUs and still make fat margins.

    • @nimbulan2020
      @nimbulan2020 Месяц назад +2

      @@hasnihossainsami8375 Yes you're exactly right about why AMD's RT support has been so poor. However from the PS5 Pro info they didn't double the RT cores, they just doubled the throughput of one part of the RT pipeline, a part that does not seem to make all that much difference in overall performance. I saw a chart a while back showing that RDNA3 was actually ahead of Turing in this particular spec, yet Turing's RT architecture is still far more performant. So unless RDNA4 completely overhauls the RT implementation, completely different from the PS5 Pro's changes which nobody has suggested as of yet, then I don't see how these wild performance rumors are even remotely possible.

    The 8800XT will be as fast as a 7900XTX in raster and "45%" better in RT?! Riiight! Do you actually read the stuff you write?
    The 8800XT will be a modest uplift in raster over a 7800XT (yes, 7800, not 7900), and probably 10% (or more) slower than a 7900XT, let alone an XTX! RT might be "improved" on titles that use really weak RT, but games that *use* RT properly, like Cyberpunk, Control, etc. will only see very modest gains. Even a 45% "improvement" in RT over a 7900XT (not XTX) would still be pretty pathetic, but even that's *not* going happen.
    You and MLID need to think a little harder when making ridiculous "leaked" proclamations about next-gen GPU performance.
    TL/DR: the 8800XT will NOT be anywhere close to even a 4080 in games that actually use RT in any meaningful way. Also, the 8800XT's raster performance will be probably about 10%-15% worse than a 7900XT (not XTX!), meaning it will be a _decent_ generational uplift, not a *miracle* !
