The last place I saw that many was at the graveyard on Ascension island about 8 PW several V41's this was in mid 80s, then some overzealous person decided they all needed to be buried, I dragged a couple off to another dump site. We had one we drove around for work along with a Jeep J20 with a gladiator engine in it. that was heaven on earth!
I was lucky enough to live in Camillus NY where Luber was building homes in the 70s. Lubers had some great power wagons and Dave Luber actually let me drive one when I was 15!! Thanks Dave! Have always wanted one of these trucks but never achieved that goal!
The one with the utility body more than likely was a fire truck at one time likely after military use.The handles to ride on the back say this to me. My buddies Dad has such a truck in similar condition, but his utility pump and fitting with hose rack are original to 1940s 50s factory. Sometimes surplus trucks got fitted with a new fire body's because of the great offroad bad weather capabilities. His runs, but the tires are done and hard to replace
The power wagon that had the utility bed was for power line utility. The gin poles were used for setting telephone poles in the ground there should be a winch up at the front of the toolbox that would come to the back and go up over the poles 😮
That PW with the utility body is a rare piece , even had the winch's and gin poles . The Power Wagons have gone crazy in price for a restored unit . I bet somebody bids ALL of them , they are worth money even in parts .
Beautiful old trucks I have a 1950 FF Power Wagon I am just about ready to start putting back together, the truck had 18K original miles on it. I will be back to PERFECT stock condition, in fact a bit MORE THAN PERFECT since now the frame and all underpinnings are powder coated, rebuilt engine, trans and transfer case when done in the Spring I will drive it for a month or two and it will be for sale! I also have a 1952 Dodge M37 that is a 9 out of 10 in condition with winch and its for sale right now! I dont care much for DODGE but not even I can not really like the OLD Power Wagons straight Ass honest good old trucks!
@@siglkendon Kendon that sounds like an interesting project, are you going to stay with the stock engine or change to something different? The reason I ask is if you changed the gearing to 3.73 I would say you going to have a very hard time pulling that gear with 100 HP 6 cylinder, I am all rebuilt stock running the 4.89s. This last week I fired the engine in my truck and set the timing, then put the old radiator that is shot back on the truck so I could at least run the engine for awhile and ran it through all the gears and into 4 wd and everything checked out so far. It is now at the shop where the body is being restored and they will be mounting the bed, rear fenders and cab as soon as the painting is completed! 2 years worth of work is getting closer to being completed!

I remember as a kid in the 50's, a lot of these were use as tow trucks, I've also seen one with a small backhoe hook up on it , kind of like a gradall.. These basically came out of WWII & Korea ex military.

You're thinking of the WC series, and the later M series trucks like the M37 and M43, etc. These were designed after WWII upon request from returned soldiers asking Dodge where they could buy a truck like the ones they'd used in the war. that being said, there are many similarities between these trucks military and civilian, such as the engine, etc. I happen to have an M37 and a Flat fender sitting in the driveway right now ;)
If you have $185K there is a great restoration place in Jackson Hole. If not at least look at the pictures. This would be one of my first lottery winning investments.

I love dodge but the Power wagons... They are probably one of my favorite trucks, the simple classic bad ass style of them make them perfect for anything I want a few to rebuild: one (somewhat) original, one with a Cummins, and another.. for anything.
All of these trucks need to be refurbished and Cummins 5.9 upgrade , my Dad had one that me made into a tow truck nice thanks BigAl California praise Jesus Christ grace amen
ZiS-151 -> ZIl-151/157 looks like International KB-7 (or 11, dunno), because cabin is straight forward from these trucks. Once i've heard that SU bought stamping tools for these cabins, but more likely design was "borrowed". Which is not surprising, development of these trucks began in war time, couldn't afford building it from scratch.

Im in the process of mashing 2 power wagons to make 1 good one. Cant wait till I get it done with 3.73 gears instead of the 4.89s
