When I first heard Fishbone I was BLOWN AWAY. I thought for sure they have about 15 people in the band because of all the vocal harmonies, horns, etc... Then I find out it was pretty much 5 dudes. Blown away again. lol
Most people don't know that the studio version of The Red Hot Chili Peppers 'Taste The Pain', that was Fish on the drums. Jack Irons left and they didn't hire Chad Smith at the time.
According to Norwood, Fishbone was founded "in the late 70s, around 78..." So, that would make Fish 11yo. Maybe "Party at ground zero" started to be "constructed" at that time ?...
The strange thing is when I tell my fellow musicians that Philip Fisher is one of my very favorite drummers of all time, often they don't even know who he is. John Bonham, Dennis Chambers, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd etc, sure they know and love them, but often Fish doesn't even ring a bell. Then I let them hear "So many Millions" by Fishbone and they're like "GAWD DAAAYUMN!".
Gotta correct Res on something. Fish didn't record 'Party At Ground Zero' when Fish was 11. The song was first recorded in 1985, so Fish was 18. Fishbone first composed that song in 1978, which would've made Fish 11 at the time seeing how he was born in 1967.
I had to watch the video 3 times before getting what she was saying. Even if English is my second language I've never expecienced this. Seems she also was a bit confused by the almighty Fish.
Jan B pretty sure he was eleven. by the time the EP was released fishbone had been doing clubs for years. fishbone is said to have started 78/79ish...the song kinda sounds like something some kids would do honestly. it holds up well
The studio/released version was when he was 17 or 18, but that song had been done for years before they were signed to Columbia and the EP came out in 1985.
Fish didn't show enough "enthusiasm," huh? Black women always sound like white folk. And the funniest shit is, like white folk, she eventually had to go with performance and not shuffling.
Fishbone= The most slept on group ever.
INDEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Empresslockness I have seen Fishbone three times live- all amazing.

Vincent Roux Constructed and recorded are two different things. She says he told her he was 11 when the recording was made. He was 18 at that time.
Fishbone is another diamond in the rough that flew over most everyones head! Another to mention is my personal favorite.. King's X!
As a long time Fishbone fan I absolutely loved this -- I'm sorry but,...I've never heard of RES.
Yup, I've heard about Res because Fish was touring with her... :-)

Or Behavior Control Technician!!!
He was in high school when the album dropped ('85?). He was clownin' you some about his age.
Fishbone is the kind of band that won't happen again. No band that hires Fish will ever touch the band he comes from. Not Wickyd Wizdom, & not this.

Fake eyelashes 😂
There is NO FUCKING WAY Fish was 11 playing Party At Ground Zero.
He was 17. Still, amazing and crazy young.
Great story!
She found out that there are real musicians out there...and she might not be one of them.
I think Fish is three years older than me, because I was 14 when the PAGZ EP dropped in the D
Fish Fisher was 18 in 1985 when their debut EP dropped, so that'd make him 4 years older, but I digress. ;)
Actually not true - fish was born 1967 and the release was 1985... still he and theyre great though
