Dude you can! I started watching his speed runs about a year ago and my rating jumped up like 250 points in 2 months. Part of that is because I was underrated due to not playing for awhile but I doubt it was by that much. I started asking myself the questions he talks about and evaluating the positions. Also I used to just basically treat every position like a tactic and just try to blast through. It works well against lower rates people but not people who know what they’re doing haha. Anyway I got busy and stopped going through his videos(and others) as much and forgot the questions and now I’ve stalled a bit.

    • @waveexistence5742

It really is wild how he just explains every move with such clarity, It really does feel so simple to understand each position. Then you I go back to my own games and it's like trying to see through mud. But, we get a little better everyday.

Welcome. It's a grind. I've been stuck around 1360 for about a year. Closest I got to 1400 was 1398... At least, on chess.com. I'm close to 1500 on Lichess. I think their ratings are calculated differently or something. But I digress... Hopefully you can hit that coveted 1400 that I've been striving for, for quite some time

I started learning openings and everything, was stuck at 1k for a month or two but moved up quite quickly. Maybe 3-4 months before I broke 1300. I think I am still getting better, as I rarely drop below 1300 now. I used to always be drop down to 1200 then back to 1300. Not so much anymore.

The intro with the music felt awkwardly placed on this one, I think It's okay to insert the music intro after some seconds of video only when there is a "fun" or very instructive concept remark, but when there isn't such moment throughout the session, I believe you should put the music intro right off 0:00

the lisitsin happens after white plays 1...f5, not d5, which makes it much less dubious.
The tennison is basically just a trappy opening mostly played at weaker levels, kind of a dubious budapest gambit with white.

But if I dig deeper, it is obvious that Danya just plays so solidly (in opening and middle games), that his opponents trip over themselves against him.
Me on the other hand, not nearly so solid. And nobody is channeled into tripping over themselves against me.
