Psychological damage isn't talked about enough. When applied effectively that person could end up throwing the game doing something stupid. Like b-lining for a sniper instead of capping the point.

Hey Fatmagic, been watching for a while! I think this new series is perfect, it's very entertaining and there's a lot you could do with it ( Best Demoman primary, best sniper secondary...). This also brings a new element to the channel which is a more informative video type rather than always more of a comedic type which is good (not to say your normal videos arent great lol). Keep it up!
love how this starts out professional (because Snipers are professional) and then Fatmagic's jokes come out of nowhere and at some points blend in seamlessly with the professionalism
This video was way better than I expected when you talked about making it, and I expected it to be great, so I'd love to see more of this type of video!
The best Sniper primary just so happens to be the one that has you performing so well, that you're accused of (bad) aimbot gaming frequently. Those bloody haters just can't handle the fact that you're embracing the swell of Boss Baby gaming energies by using such powerful arms.
primaries don't have anything doing in these situatons. boss baby is so powerful he can get accused with any primary. it just proves how powerful boss baby is
I actually really enjoy that you're doing a video like this rather than your usual casual pub shenanigans. Thanks for making great content on both ends. Excited for more videos like this in between your usual stuff.
the bargain is just easily the best. once you get past the -50% charge time threshold (which isn't even that much of a downside like like the machina has, just wait to charge a shot before peeking) its exactly like stock, and from that point onward can get 2 and a half times stronger than stock for playing normally, hell even more aggressively once you get more kills since you charge so much faster, which means less risk in taking really fast, up close shots. and even if you do die, its not hard to get them back given you're playing sniper in the first place, unlike something like air strike or demoknight. fun fact on that, the bazaar bargain, air strike, and eyelander can have their kills transferred to yourself or the enemy if you kill them or get killed by them if they're wielding one of them, and have any amount of kills on them above 0. for example killing a demoknight with 3 heads as an air strike soldier will get you 4 kills, since you get the three kills the demoknight did prior, plus for killing the demoknight.
Agreed. On competitive machina is probably better since the other sniper can take you out more often than your average pub sniper but on casual a good bazaar one is powerful as fuck
I know everyone is saying it already but I’ve been watching for a long time and you should 100% make this a series! I love balancing your funny videos with your (a bit more) serious videos that still have your charm. You should do this for every class even if you don’t play them much because no one knows better than boss baby.
I often compare the Classic to the Huntsman. They don't do as much damage as stock, and make you move slower while charging, but give you better awareness of your surroundings and be able to flip around in an instant.
Since every sniper rifle minus the Sydney Sleeper still does 150 damage, they're still pretty much viable and you just need to change depending of your playstyle. Bazaar Bargain is probably the most -broken- powerful since it's almost impossible to counter it with the faster charging.
the only thing that can counter a bazaar bargain sniper with 6 heads and a team covering them is a sniper going into the most obscure hiding spot feasable and peeking for .2 seconds to do a quickscope headshot
This video was great! Very well informed and collected list! Would love to see more content like this in the future like the secondary and melee list for sniper!
I remember when the machina had just been added and I got my genuine machina and just went on a rampage. The sound it made when I cored the enemy team like an apple by killing like five people with a charged shot as soon as the gate opened made me feel like a god, it was incredible. Good times.
I feel a lot more comfortable peeking corners with the classic, i'm not so great at sniper, but in most cases, i'd prefer to use the classic over any other rifle
I am actually happy that fatmagic can help me decide a primary for the sniper because I have just been around the board of choosing one sniper weapon but now I can get a secons oppinion on choosing.
I just like using the heatmaker because it’s quiet. In mid- to close-quarters, or when you’re in a good hiding/sniping spot, not making much sound can make a big difference. Also, I like going against the metas while still being effective.
I feel like the best way to make the classic more conventionally useful would be to make it so that when it nails a headshot and explodes an enemy, any enemies or buildings around it are damaged. Maybe something like a flat 75 health if you're right next to him and then it falls off a bit if you're further away until it just does nothing at all.
I still so love the Sydney Sleeper. I love the faster charge rate and marking heavies, soldiers, and demos so my team can deal with them. Also full charged body shot on a medic is funny
I remember a long time ago, there was a sniper on my team who was incredibly nutty and hitting most of his shots. He was using the Sydney sleeper because “I like it”. Anyway, the enemy team got so pissed that 4 of them went scorch shot pyro and targeted him. They lost the round shortly after due to having no power classes or engineers
I reall enjoyed this type of video,I've been here for a while and i liked this just as much as your other videos if not more! You should definately keep this going as a series and maybe go on to talk about secondary and melee weapons for sniper and (maybe) some other classes in the near future.Good job Fatmagic !
Honestly, I used the Heater, but not Focus while I was learning. Intentionally handicapping my ability to bodyshot really helped me get better at Sniper, since it kinda forced me to headshot. Once I started using the Bargain and Stock, I was hitting headshot after headshot.
I really don’t get the B rank as when you’re performing just as good as fat magic, the downside isn’t really a problem. The tracer rounds are slightly understandable, but I think an A rank would make more sense.
I love the DOOM music addition. I think it really fits that moment. Also, i dont think its normal that it took me less than 2 seconds to recognize it and have title and the rest of the whole soundtrack in my head.
The only thing they fear is *Obese Magician* I think we would like to see full length montage, maybe even with elements of Gun Sync. Like Oyff's one with Doom Eternal.

Ah yes, the Sydney Sleeper SMG Sniper strat. It actually works rather well, I use this a lot even though it is far from the best that one can do with sniper, because it's fun and I'm not playing sniper often. Your charge rate is like a bazaar bargain with 3 heads, so that bodyshot-esque playstyle you mentioned you switch to when at 4+ heads can be applied here as well. It does have some sort of headshot mechanic technically, but it was actually more powerful back when on headshot, rather than minitcrits, it would just coat an entire area in jarate. It was banned in competitive for this reason.
I think my favorite moment as huntsman sniper back when I could play was when I pinned a medic’s body to the wall and watched as their 20 health heavy desperately called medic at the corpse before dying
probably because your performance anxiety drops when you know you can just gain a full charge in like 1 second, so there's not as much risk to missing a shot as say with only 1 or no heads
A little trick with the heatmaker You can instantly unscope when you use the focus but you have to press mouse 2 manually to do it Very useful if you are fighting multiple sniper since most of them wait for you to be a sitting duck after firing Also if I'm not mistaken it also removes your flinching when taking damage in focus mode But overall i only use it because it's supressed and it separate people head like the eyelander
I really want to use the Sydney Sleeper more often; it can still "headshot"-kill a soldier at full charge, and dousing teammates just by shooting at them is strangely satisfying... ...I just wished it could still quickscope "headshot"-kill snipers like the other rifles.
Damn, I loved this perspective and format from you. I really appreciate the time you spend on the script. Good flow of info and your thought are well composed. More of this please!!!
Good tierlist, I especially appreciate you talking about the Sleeper + SMG combo because it's actually really good across many situations and does tons of psychological damage because the enemy team becomes horrified that they just got charged down by a SMG using maniac who just took a long range piss on them. Also the rage the body shots causes makes the enemy gamers 'bad because mad'.
For me, the bazaar bargain will always be my go-to. It was my first sniper primary unlock, and I think I just got attached to it and the snowballing game-play.

ive noticed this in both modded cs 1.6 and tf2 reskins. even if the weapons are the exact same, the appearence and sound gives them a certain feel that just makes em feel better and more comfortable sometimes which can help you get better
The classic is my go to weapon to counter any explosive jump class (and jetpack pyros). I can detect them easily. A hit mid air or as the land follow by the SMG is enought to kill them. Although I always land on hightower or harvest, so maybe I just run into so many troldiers so I see that use a lot.
It’s no coincidence that many times when asking someone with tons of time on a class, Stock ranks near or at top for most weapons. Sometimes the consistency is more valuable than any gimmick
As a person who put 1200+ hours into Sniper over ten years and more than half of that was only using the huntsman, I can say your Tier List is on point, with one biased exception. No one would put huntsman in S tier because nothing can truly "replace" a headshot hit-scan weapon. But to me, huntsman is S tier at minimum A tier. The amount of times I was able to shut down an entire server based off of my map knowledge and the triangulation of my release time at the right corners, the arrow speed and how it matches with the spawn timing and movement speed of the enemy classes on the other team. That kind of 6-dimensional chess was something few shooters have been able to give me, aside from Tribes i guess.. (rest in peace). Which instantly puts it in S tier in context of TF2's old weapon design philosophy of weapons giving players new ways to play the class. It succeeded in that regard. Its a shame its right-hand-man the Darwin shield got nerfed into an oblivious anti-pyro item.
The classic is literally just the same sniper rifle from TFC. Same skin (just higher res), you have to be on the ground to shoot, and to charge independently from scoping, and you have to be fully charged (but it takes less time in TFC), but the weird line that appears while charging a shot does not appear in the original game along with the faint tracer round.
Wow this is a lot different to what i use to watch on the Fatmagic channel....my thoughts? It's awesome. Love it! I would say keep making these types of videos (only if you enjoy making these of course). I will always watch your videos Fatmagic!
It's funny how the Huntsman is just like intentionally broken. If you get an arrow anywhere within a player's world collision hull (which is like a big box around their character), the arrow will warp to the closest body part.
some ideas for reworks (not saying i think these should be implemented, just throwing out ideas here) heatmaker: during focus, headshots deal mini crits instead of crits. during focus, if you miss a shot, it will automatically headshot the nearest enemy head to the crosshair. keeps other existing stats machina: instead of its existing damage boost, shots crit and deal 33% more damage when hitting multiple targets, but you still cant noscope, and still fires tracers. this still makes you more vulnerable, but allows you to deal insane damage with good positioning and aim. 33% specifically because a instant shot is 50 damage, 150 with a crit. 150+30% is 199.5, which rounds up to exactly 200 damage (if damage rounds down by default, which i doubt, it would be 34% damage boost) classic: max charge is halved, so instead of 450 max headshot damage, 300 damage but takes less total time to charge up bazaar bargain: no noscopes, i think it would fit perfectly into this weapons stats sydney sleeper: should have a jarate splash effect whether it hits a player or the map, this would make the jarate on it actually useful instead of the main upside being the faster charge. some people might think this would make the weapon overpowered, but really it would need this to compete with 150 instant damage headshots huntsman: headshots deal mini crit damage, +25 hp on wearer (this would definately upset huntsman enthusiasts, but it would still be simple but a good design)
The hitmans heatmaker is such a cool design what i think they should do to change it is that by default it always does the tracer rounds but when focus you dont show a tracer rounds and you could even just throw in that your kills dont show up on kill cam

some ideas for reworks (not saying i think these should be implemented, just throwing out ideas here)
heatmaker: during focus, headshots deal mini crits instead of crits. during focus, if you miss a shot, it will automatically headshot the nearest enemy head to the crosshair. keeps other existing stats
machina: instead of its existing damage boost, shots crit and deal 33% more damage when hitting multiple targets, but you still cant noscope, and still fires tracers. this still makes you more vulnerable, but allows you to deal insane damage with good positioning and aim. 33% specifically because a instant shot is 50 damage, 150 with a crit. 150+30% is 199.5, which rounds up to exactly 200 damage (if damage rounds down by default, which i doubt, it would be 34% damage boost)
classic: max charge is halved, so instead of 450 max headshot damage, 300 damage but takes less total time to charge up
bazaar bargain: no noscopes, i think it would fit perfectly into this weapons stats
sydney sleeper: should have a jarate splash effect whether it hits a player or the map, this would make the jarate on it actually useful instead of the main upside being the faster charge. some people might think this would make the weapon overpowered, but really it would need this to compete with 150 instant damage headshots
huntsman: headshots deal mini crit damage, +25 hp on wearer (this would definately upset huntsman enthusiasts, but it would still be simple but a good design)
The hitmans heatmaker is such a cool design what i think they should do to change it is that by default it always does the tracer rounds but when focus you dont show a tracer rounds and you could even just throw in that your kills dont show up on kill cam
Yo I could totally watch more of these
this guy should make gameplays I'd watch all of them
Fatmagic now feeling like RotundScience with this analysis video. I dig it.
