4:25 Maybe I'm crazy for this, but the fact I can throw it in my small sling bag and still have plenty of space for other things was 100% worth the price for me. It's more expensive than just the Odin 2, but getting that smaller form factor and screen makes it worth it. The miniLED screen was the cherry on top since now that I can take this device everywhere with me, I can play it outdoors in the sun too since it gets over 1000 nits.
This will be my first emulation device and I’m so excited. It’s definitely expensive but the combination of being super portable and not having to worry about being limited by certain games or having to play around with settings is what sold me. Hopefully getting it setup won’t be too bad!
This is a great video! I watched the first one you did too. I really like the approach of pros/cons in practice a month later and made it feel all that more genuine. It solidified that the form factor and power was indeed fitting my personal use case before I buy.
I have serious fomo and want one of these sooo bad. Your comment on possible future color releases has made me feel better about not being able to afford one right now lol.
The form factor is 100% the main reason to consider buying this thing for, otherwise Ayn wouldn't have even bothered to make it in the first place since the original Odin 2 already exists. Even if they went with a better IPS display with a higher refresh rate and faster response times instead of a fancy mini LED display, I still would have picked one of these up. The thing is just so damn slick. I was also initially super interested in the RG Cube since it's such a unique form factor, and I would still be considering one even after picking up the Odin 2 Mini if the Cube didn't have the same analog stick tracking issues that nearly all of Anbernic's other devices seem to have. Really wish they would put out a fix for people who already own devices. I want to love my RG405V, but the analog sticks alone are such a sore point for me that I just can't bring myself to love it. From what I've read online so far, the RG Cube is no better. Gamma OS also does not really fix the problem either since all the creator can do is tweak the dead zones. The tracking issue is something that only Anbernic can fix.
For the first batch of purchases... The day one 30 dollar coupon purchases are part of the first shipment, then the rest of the original orders ship. The 20 dollar discount ship second week next month and then the 10 dollar discount preorders ship at the end of next month
Great video. I own the regular Odin 2. And personally, I don't see a purpose with the mini version. It's slightly smaller. However, you can easily take the regular Odin 2 with you wherever you go. It's just not pocket size small. And I'm fine with that, as I want to actually see what I'm doing. 😀
Yeah, plus I have large hands which is why the N3DSXL and PS Vita were both unplayable for me without purchasing an additional grip. I love the bulk/heft of the original PSP, and the Switch and Odin 2
for anyone else concerned about the battery, i find with my odin by the time i've finished a long day of playing, it sits around 40%. so it's slightly too high to warrant charging, but not long enough that it could server another full round of playing. so the o2m will fit slightly better into a charging schedule with how i use the device
I like how this device improved on the design of the Ps vita , sony sticking with the aligned analog sticks because that's what they've always done but I feel that the different positions of the analog sticks here and on xbox controllers is better
I think when you have something like the Steam deck already then this becomes way more attractive as a second more pocketable device then the normal Odin, but if you only want one the normal Odin is the more sensible option imo.
This is exactly my scenario. I already have the Steam Deck but wanted something more pocketable to take to work with me. Currently I'm using the TrimUI Smart Pro which is pretty awesome but want something around it's size that can also play PS2 and GameCube, so I ordered the Mini.
I wouldn’t mind a Netflix special when you get the white one. It’s the one I wanna buy! I’ve got the original I mainly wanna put linux on it so then I can play gta 5 on it. And other games. But I’ve already got the original first Odin.. not sure if I wanna upgrade just yet? Would it be worth it? I’m not sure.
One of the reasons I'm enthusiastic about Joey's Android coverage is because it translates very well to the stuff I own. At the moment I can't afford an Android handheld that's more powerful than the phone(s) I own; however, pretty much everything he says about Android handhelds applies to Android phones and tablets too. The tutorials have been especially useful; but, I've also gotten ideas for things from simply watching various reviews. I'm looking forward to seeing whatever Android phone coverage Joey's hinting at.
How's playing Okami on this thing? Okami, The Warriors, Onimusha 3, Genji, Shinobido, Breathe of Fire 4, Persona 3, Bleach Blade Battlers 2nd, Shadow Hearts, Chulip, NBA ballers, these are some of the games I grew up playing on ps2 that I want to play again. I Dont wanna buy this thing to play FF Tactics again lmao. I freakin finished all 300 missions, my Marche got double swords 2 Nagrarok on each hand, and retaliate skill when I was 12yrs old. I had to replay the game 3 times just to get the right materials for unlocking new lands and not miss to steal items from rare bosses
A pointless release. Hoping AYN doesn't turn into Anbernic. Should have released a cost reduced Odin 2 instead targeting a lower price point. ($199-$249)
I think the truly insane amount of buzz that this device has generated implies that it wasn't exactly pointless from a business perspective. Maybe you're right, maybe they would have done better releasing a cheaper Odin 2, but this was not pointless.
2 Joey videos in one day? He must have gotten off the toilet
LOL! I actually have three other finished videos that I have to release at some point, so I'm swimming in finished videos!
When Joey makes a random follow up video of a device, you can guarantee it’s a top tier must buy.

I have some setup guides to help you just check out the Odin one or any recent device (556/RP4PRO) :)
You'll still need to mess with turnip drivers for modern emulators... Switch/3ds/winlator

Goated shirt, I actually wanted to get this handheld to play a Persona/SMT game on my flight to Italy soon.

Great update thanks man 👍👍😊
The way you describe the coil whine reminds me of the UMD drive in a PSP. It's like nostalgia for older gamer ear drums.
That sound is so nostalgic

Beautiful device
Good to see a reviewer not abandoning content on a product just because a different product suits specifically that reviewer better.

Hi Joey, great videos I always look forward to seeing them a question. What’s the name of your sling bag?
Bellroy Venture Sling 6L! It's awesome, I love, but pricey.

I love the look of the white one, but I’m going to get an Odyn 2 first before I spoil myself wiht the mini.
Hello. I came here to see you talking about the mini-LED display. Is that better than Odin 2? Is that close to RG 556's OLED screen?
Thank you.

Oh my white one is super sexy.
When I think of a handheld I think of Gameboy and 3DS size, I do not get how people think Rog Ally or Steam Deck are portable
ugh I'm so torn between odin 2 vs mini. Trying to weigh ergonomics vs portability
Odin 2: Electric Boogaloo
So how long did the battery last when you had the screen at 100%?
69 minutes
I don't know why AYN hasn't made any Odin Flip?
I've asked them many times!
You just had to rub it in that you already have one and us peasants still have to wait for ours...
Muahaha. I'm still waiting on that sexy white one though!
I switched my order to a white one about a week ago, loll
Yooooooo! Tales of the Abyss!
That's an underrated game. Have you played Destiny DC yet? ^^
I have not! Adding to the list :)
Destiny directors cut is probably the best tales of game
Id be tempted if it was closer to $275-290.
I have 0 interest in buying any of these emulation devices because I just use emulators on my phone but these videos are still cool

The only thing that holds this Handheld back for me is the lack of color saturation in the screen compared to the Odin 2.
You won't even notice it after a day
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 Nah I'll definitely notice it. I noticed it on my Pimax Portal so why wouldn't I notice it here?
This screen is just terrible. Some people might tolerate it, but once you've seen something like the RG556's screen, compared to this... Ouch.
In your opinion, which is wrong
Yes, we know, this doesn't have an OLED panel. To say this screen is terrible? Laughable.

Why would it be pointless? I want my handheld to fit in my pocket and original odin 2 us too big. Even this is slightly bigger than I'd like
They could have done the same thing for less. It is pointless.

Not pointless at all. I want a small, powerful device that can play everything. No desire to haul around a steam deck or even an OLED Switch.
