If I'm being honest , with how I actually use my computer , this would do the job about 95% of the time just fine. As for the other 5% of the time , it would still get it done just slower than I'd like.
just hook up a pi to your monitor and a dock, save the 200
@@FussyPickles What kind of "dock" are you talking about?
@@FussyPickles what pi you mean ? Pi now also too damn expensive, full kit of Pi4 2gb now is $200 a d it's $140 for only Pi4 alone.
just use cloud
@@user-jt5vm3mi1w I've never really considered that as an option. But, thank you for the suggestion.
Been using this for about 4 months now. Love it.
Can you tell me if it works for meetings online?
@@Sandracrnv I would think so. I'm running 2 monitors with no problems.
@@drammer0481 Thanks
I ordered mines some days ago hopefully it's great 😁
For 250 I think this is pretty good, would be perfect for my parents
These mini PCs go on sale VERY often... but you can get a Ryzen 7 3750h mini pc for $50 more quite often as well, it's a pretty good APU
I was thinking the same a Christmas present
@@Haywood-Jablomie where from please?
Phil's been on a tear
The lack of HDR video out is a drag on a box like this. If it could play HDR10 video it would be a perfect little PC for use with Plex's HTPC app.
If I get right, It’s missing an intel i3+ processor for decoding hdr, isn’t it ?
I have the slightly more expensive Ryzen 7 version of this and its's awesome. I purchased it to use as a DAW but ended up using it full-time. I find it interesting that the memory and storage are upgradable. I had a problem with the HDMI cutting out. I thought it was a hardware problem on a cheap computer, but it turns out it simply shipped with the wrong Radeon drivers. Easy fix. I was able to get a third display running at 1080p 8-bit color via a powered USB 3 hub connection. That is to say USB 3 to HDMI. If you try to connect the display directly, the computer immediately powers off due to the small power supply. I am very happy with it and plan to add an SSD and max the memory out to 64 gigabytes.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Sounds like a good backup computer in case my primary PC goes down. You don't get the laptop screen but you get significantly higher capabilities for the same price.
In Australia this mini PC with only 8gig of ram costs $683.12 average. SO people on a disability pension can only dream of owning something like this. Average price for a larger desktop for gaming range from around $1,350 to $2,500. As I said, average price give or take a few hundred. You can actually spend a lot more around $5,000 and higher. Want to buy a PC from here? This country I live in is SO expensive.
Now that I've had my gripe, great little computer....I like it! Keep up the good work.
Lookout for small form factor PC on eBay. Add a cheap GPU and you'll have something of good value.
@@philscomputerlab Thanks I'll do that.
I hate Celerons but i like the rest of the specs.
Doesn't strike me as a bargain with that price vs specs. Built a mini atx HTPC for 221$, pentium gold G7400, ssd, 16GB DDR4, far superior I/O since it actually has a motherboard, is upgradeable, will play lighter games (even open worlds like GTAV since 7400 allows it) and produces little to no heat just the same.
This has a size and portability advantage over an mATX pc. These are on Amazon right now for $200. Plus a 512gb ssd is great for this price range and windows pre-installed is nice for people that want a plug and play experience
@@DunkenMyDonuts I understand the form factor, but 90% of owners are only going to be looking at that "plug and play" bit, i mean one of the most voted comment on here reads "it would be perfect for my parents".
That mini ATX i put together was for my father, and i decided to build it because last time around he had been caught in one of these where 399$ had gotten him so little the system did not even need a power supply, with 400$ you can make a pretty sturdy low end PC in whatever form factor you wish, as opposed to getting borderline scammed. Thats not to say this particular case is, but its not what id call value either.
I have one for about 3 months now and it has worked out well to replace my 6 core I5 HP desktop (that died).
like how everything about this is better than my entire laptop
Interesting, but I bought a refurbished HP Probook 6570b for 100 CDN $ (≈ 75$US) at a local “non-profit insertion enterprise” last week. 3rd Gen i5-3320M, 128 gb ssd, 8 gb ram. Pretty decent for what I do (including DP with the Affinity V2 suite). Games? Wait, there are games for computer, now?
This would be decent for retro emulation, running something like Batocera.
Same specs as the mini pc I built myself 8 years ago. Mine is about 5cm wider and 5cm deeper though. Cost me about $1k back in the day, still using it, very handy as a backup
Wow that's so bad azz that you did that lol
Thank you for a great video. I think the prices are crazy these days. But we can see raspberry pi with accessories reaching that price! An old Lenovo tiny (M73, M93) is half that price with i5 cpu, may fair better though not recent.
Those are interesting too. However, they will typically have less RAM or storage and are not this tiny (you can screw this mini PC to a monitor and it virtually disappears). And the integrated graphics in an old CPU will be worse, too. Also the Windows 11 license adds to the price, it would be nice if they sold a no-OS version.
The Pi is a scam honestly. There are so many better options, it's not worth.
very reasonable price... guess it'd perfect for a little homecinema PC setup...
Can you please cover all bios and UEFI settings?
Is IPXE /PXE working?
nice little machine for the price!! thanks, phil! keep it up!!!
ps: i'd love to see one of these beelink or minisforum ones acting as a gaming console, hdmi on the tv / living room / butt in couch pc gaming!!!
Not really their function. There are other micro pc with Radeon apu that do the gaming bit far far better.
@@nonaurbizniz7440 noice
Such as... ?!?
@@vicchopin Look up 'Minisforum Elitemini X500'. Ryzen 5700g in the same micro form factor as the one in this video.

I always enjoy mini PC reviews 😀.
Thanks again and my 67-th 👍😉!
I have used the old U59(8/256), Mini S N5095(8/128), U59 Pro(8/512). I think all has m.2 sata3 ssd. the ssd on the old U59 always corrupt itself every 3-4 months, last september I replaced it with a new one. the ssd and ram on the old U59 only had serial number & size and no other manufacturing information. for what's it worth, it is a good cpu to be used for office work (browser+pdf editor+email+word+excel) and everything runs smooth. it is also mountable on the back of the monitor.
the U59 Pro is in a weird place because there is no option for lower ssd capacity. I'd usually choose 128GB for office use as all data are stored in servers and the local computers only store the os+productivity programs.
some commenters mentioned about used 8th gen thin client being better option than this beelink mini cpu, in where I live those are high demand products that the price is usually higher for the same performance. intel also sells barebone NUCs but in here the options are currently only old models (in the range of J4125).
What's the CPU clock rate?
This could make an eventual replacement for my HEPC Mac Mini if it ever dies. It's about 10 years old and still hummin' along
I have the prior model with the J4125 that I use with pfsense (actually I have the "Trigkey Green G1". All these cheap mini PCs seem to be the same box with a different name on it.). Works pretty ok and can handle gig fiber with ease. The Realtek NIC and generic RMA/Storage modules are what holds this back from being awesome. I have issues with the network failing randomly but I think I found another bad network card in my home which was sending corrupted/malformed packets which was crashing this machine! (I'm currently at 57 days without a fault now).
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
This is why I recommend looking up cheap units on aliexpress. They're all sourcing the same generic SoCs anyway, so quality is less of a concern and you can shop purely based on specs and price. Browsing by mini itx machines you can find a number of them advertised as pfsense/opnsense machines and they'll have 4-8 1 or 2.5gig ports with solid chipsets. I've been using one for a few years now that's all Intel on both the cpu and networking side built around an E3845 and it's been working flawlessly since day 1. Saturating a 1 gig fiber connection barely stresses the cpu, leaving tons of headroom for having extra packages running for monitoring, filtering, etc. while being passively cooled and perfectly silent due to not drawing more than a few watts.
@@Zeratuhl I've found Amazon to be cheaper in some cases (YMMV) especially when coupons are stacked. It's unfortunate our Fiber ISP up here requires PPPOE which requires a lot of cpu to process. I've heard some mixed things on certain intel chipsets so it can very quite a bit.
Realtek isn't as bad as they used to be (most comsumers will be fine) but if you are using as a router, intel is still the gold standard.
I am happy with just using cheap laptops and most don't use much power wise plus the cost is often lower while being faster plus older models offer a lot more as far as storage goes while being ok for a lot of games.
Ordered using your referral link, hope it helps support your channel. Got the 8GB version because I have a 2nd 8GB stick doing nothing left over from a laptop upgrade. I like that this is upgradable for storage/memory and runs off 12v which is perfect for small off grid solar. I also found a monitor which uses 12v to go with it because I don't use to use an inverter because they generate too much RFI.
Thank you for another video 🙂
I've been seeing these on aliexpress for a while, was curious to see actual performance.
I'd love to see this hooked up with the ADT-Link M.2, and see what performance you'd get with an actual GPU...
cinebench put this CPU somewhere around end of C2Q era, I'll make a guess here and say probably not worth a trouble.
Amazing and great review, thanks for all the infos.
Cpuz might be able to identify the ram modules.
Also, curious if using DXVK would improve game performance
But can it run Crysis?
Bugger, forgot again 😔
@@philscomputerlab 🤣🤣🤣 You'll get them next time I'm sure
Considering that a Win11Pro license alone is about $200 (from BestBuy) I would say the cost of this Mini-PC is excellent.
5:47 - Good to see you including Portal game. Its one of the most underrated games in history, IMO. Mindbending experience it was to play this.
HL-1, HL2 and Portal are my most favorite games ever.
Portal is not underrated at all. It's one of the best regarded games by players and critics alike.
@@Chugins Not really. When I started playingthis around 2010 - it was considered great game but was not popular among masses on ratings or online gaming videos. And even now I dont see mad craze for it with recent releases.
Hahahaha yes!!
Given the fact that Raspberries have almost tripled in price over the course of last two years, I saw this review and already had some hopes to buy this one to try out in some hobby projects that requires an ultra compact but somewhat powerful PC, but I just searched on Amazon, and it turns out that this mini PC currently costs an equivalent of 450USD here in Europe - what the hell, why is this almost twice the price on this side of the pond?!
I had no idea the Pis have become so expensive, why is that? Short supply?
I was hyped by this video and then saw it for 429.99 euro.
Aliexpress.
I bought mine direct from Beelink and it cost £200. Don't rely on Amazon to give the lowest price for everything.
@@daletomlinson7899 Amazon takes such a big cut from people that use their platform that they can't ever be competitive.
I have one with only 8GB of RAM. The sticker on the RAM says AZW, who is the manufacture of this and several other mini PCs sold under various brands. CPU-Z reports in mine the memory is manufactured by SK Hynix. I just did a review of the BYTENUC AK34, and I think AZW makes them too. Also I got a higher Cinebench R23 score, but if you hadn't reinstalled Windows I think I know why.
Hackintish capable?
What’s the mobo and other chipsets specs?
A good price for a media center/server or emulation. A Celeron just doesn't cut it for gaming. Gaming at low resolutions is not something I would want to look at.
At low resolutions the CPU is called more too, not less. That 10W celeron will choke on 4k youtube videos, might as well forget games.
CPU too weak for emulation beyond GC
MiniPC tuesdays are back!
Would really prefer if this supported NVME through the M.2 connector.
Agree - no Nvme is a dealbreaker.
Do they have an i3 or i5 variant cause celeron is really pushing it
They have all sorts of other models yes!
"Really pushing it"
What do you mean exactly?
Can the power consumption be lowered to below 10W?
How well would this mini PC work with Photoshop CS6?
Close but no cigar. I sadly need proper 4K support.
4K is a gimmick. By the time you have enough disposable income to afford 4K screens, you're probably wearing glasses anyway.

There is one with 8GB for a lower price AFAIK.
too slow esp for w11
Totally agree.
AMD 5900x CPU with 6900xt GPU and I spend 80% of my computer time doing web browsing and RUclips. This would be perfect for the vast majority of my computing needs.
i would probably pay $50 more for the Beelink SER3 with rizen apu.
would probably cost 3000 bucks in my country.....
Nice one! Using a laptop with an Athlon 3150U ATM. Does everything like a champ and I use it for older games too like Oblivion and Quake era stuff. Of course with 16gigs. For newer games I have the XBOX Series X. Need nothing more.
Looks like a great deal to me! Great video!
This looks pretty interesting tbh
FYI when it has headphones and microphone it is not TRS, it is a TRRS.
That's what I said! 😅
what an incredible deal for aa home computer. I think I might be buying some of these for customers.
If you don't need much RAM or storage, there's the MINI S N5095 model with 8Gb RAM and 256 GB SSD for 169$
but then slow video, cause you don't have dual channel memory. The build in only one ram pcb.
What voltage does the power supply need?
For $249 this is actually a really sweet little pfsense box, you can have a hardened firewall with a ton of features at home :)
The voltage is important as if it's 12v you don't need a boost converter to run a router-ups on it meaning it can be online during power failures or in our case loadshedding :)
Great to see you! The PSU is rated 12V 3000mA!
Unpopular opinion: not a good deal unless being incredibly tiny is critical for the use case. You can get an ex corporate SFF machine with 8th gen intel for the same price.
Yes it's about the small size, if you can go with a SFF then that makes a lot of sense 🙂
Yeah but i definitely want all BRAND NEW internals though
I don't want to gamble anymore with used/refurbished electronics
Just want something fast and NEW for browsing, movies music and online cards
For 150 bucks MAX
@@GORILLA_PIMP I feel ya man. Experienced a few too many crashes lately.
Such mini pc's are far better than the Raspberry Pi 4
I have a Beelink. The only major complaint is sometimes when it goes to sleep it is hard to wake it up. Not sure if something I can fix.
thank you for the deep review...
Strange the max refresh at 4k of the HDMI ports.... Did you test both HDMI ports? can you double check
Yup same on both!
I have a comparable mini pc: sporting 8GB and a Celeron 5105: with Lubuntu it's lightning fast 🙂
I'd really like to see its 2012 and older big 3d game performance such as tdu2 and mw2 etc
Can you try emulation on this?
Not my area of expertise I'm afraid. I only know DOSBox very well.
Bought about 10 of these for use as field support computers. Sudden death of NIC on 3 units was unfortunate. Cannot get support or replacemenrs
Thanks for the review video
How about the Beelink Mini S12 Pro with N-100 for media consumption, streaming & retro gaming. I have MeLE Quieter2Q with J4125. Would this option be a great upgrade or you would recommend another one?
Hmm haven't tested one with N-100 so it's hard to say. But the N-100 is quite a few years newer so you'd assume it will be more efficient?
Hmmm, not so sure. A nice amount or RAM at 16Gig, & a 512 Gig SSD is cool but the use of a crappy 2Ghz Celeron N5105 seems more than a little "unbalanced" to me? I'd have preferred less RAM/smaller SSD with a better processor. The provision of duel HDMI ports seems odd, too.
This is excellent for a homemade firewall.
How is this for emulation?
The single core score for the celeron N5105 is not very good, so anything past PS1/GC would most likely struggle.
Great for music production..
I wonder if you can connect egpu through that wifi and run a 3080 TI
It seems pretty cool. I don't this should be used for gaming but how does it perform when it comes to productivity? Like is it able to run RUclips videos at 1080p and run dual monitors with multiply apps open? Perhaps companies can use these as a cheaper alternative to laptops?
Yes it can handle these tasks easily!
A similar pc for the newer, demanding games? Thanks
In my version the audio output is not present…good video thanks
As a gamer... NO.
As someone who uses a laptop to watch movie on the big screen... sounds very interesting.
This is good for someone that does not game. I've learned after the years that Celeron is udder crap CPU. I have a cheap one from Beeklink for my 2 year old son.
Not being a PC guy - would this be able to run World of Warships online without hiccups? I'd be whacking into a 720p flat screen. 🎸
RUclipsrs should consider testing cloud gaming on these machines.
But... does it run Linux? (And Phoronix Test Suite?)
you would have to install the os in the ssd or swap it one with linux
Thank you for your work.
Off topic: a Diamond Monster MX300 new/boxed has surfaced on eBay, but for a whopping 500
Wow that's a lot of money BUT it will only keep going up...
Good deal indeed
You should test the odroid h3 the price should be compareable with a N6005 and m.2 nvme slot
For a media center computer, maybe. But looking at specs, it seems these are only 4-core Pentium/Celeron-class units. Fine for general computing, but not for any intensive work (streaming videos, etc).
You can get a used mini PC / thin client with similar or better specs on eBay for 39USD. I actually just bought one.
With 249 I could get an older generation i5 NUC or probably even an i7.
What did you buy and do you have a link?
Got the link??
Hey can this bad boy be used for virtualization?
Hi just wondering if this would be powerful enough to use Livestream Studio / OBS / vMix etc with NDI ethernet inputs for broadcasting at 1080p ?? Thank you
good for emulation that's it
What would you even use this for? Just browsing?
Saying it has a 4 core intel is not saying much . There are 4 core intel on "PassMark" that score as low as 6000 and ones that score 12,000.
My $400 budget lap Ryzen 3 5300u scores 10,000 almost the same as a 11th Gen 4 core i7-1165G7.
If it plays RUclips, Netflix, Disney+ and torrents... it's great for me.
Would be an awesome pfsense router
Can you do a video on the Intel Arc A380? Maybe with DXVK for older games of the xp/vista era?
Is that card available? I know that the A770 is being sold here in Australia. DXVK is basically what Intel is doing internally with their drivers, so will be interesting to see how it compares 🙂
@@philscomputerlab Here in germany its available from two vendors.
Ok, I didnt know that Intel basicly already uses DXVK just internally. 😄
I watched a stream/cast with Peterson and he talked about how they are using a wrapper or mapper for older DX versions and focus on native DX12 and Vulkan performance.
Will it run Linux?
Anyone know how this compares to the Trigkey S3 made by the same manufacturer?
Hi Is it good enough for streaming on a ~50 inch tv that should run more than 10 hours a day? And if not which mini pc would you recommend.Thank you!
I use Mini PCs with my TV as well! Mostly stream TV shows but also use it with a wireless keyboard for browsing. They are perfect for this.
Can we run on a battery? I mean power bank
I'm not a gamer, But I can sure see something like this as a "TV" box! I would "only" need 1080, This might even be OVERKILL. Just get a compact wireless KB and mouse, slap in an SSD full of my favorite movies, Plus have RUclips, ETC on a "real" browser with AdBlock. Yeah. Income tax time is coming the U.S. I might use part of my refund for one! 👍👍
i wonder if you can pair ir with a dg or a 1050ti if the motherboard gets addapted to it, how much performance can a person milk out of it if it had a decent coolde
Could this be used for a Plex server? Two simultaneous streams max. No 4K videos. Thanks
Should be fine! It handles 4K just find so should be easy running multiple 1080.
Wondering what the Aussie price is.
How would this be for a Pfsense router?
I have never used PFsense, but with 2 Ethernet ports should work well?
Really wondering , can we use it for music production ? Can it handle the DAW software using not too much channels ?
I have no experience with DAW software, so hard to make a call here.
I have the same question. I guess if we're easy on sound libraries and the likes it should do well...
you lost me when you said you cant use it for a desktop. its spec says it can do Desktop mode at 3840x2160 @60Hz.
Because it doesn't do RGB colours, so text will look a bit blurry and give you eye strain. But you can use USB-C which supports RGB.
