I have a 2006 mazda tribute 3.0. It's right at 199,000 and runs like a beast!! I live in Nebraska and have had it a little over a year.. it had no issues getting me through the deep snow over the winter time.... and surprisingly ..... it has little to no rust.
Have a 2004 3.0, climbs like a mountain goat. These are known for premature catalytic converter failure, which will cause low power output. Also keep an eye on that transfer case oil, as it's right next to a red-hot cat and doesn't hold much lube.
Just got a 2006 Tribute S (denotes the V6 in the North American market at least) for $1600 USD with ~130,000 miles on it as a daily beater and an emergency stop-gap replacement for my close-to-death old 2002 Focus that had obvious valve issues and it ran rich which I could never seem to solve even after replacing the injectors and as many sensors as I could think of. Scrapped that turd and recouped almost 1/3 the cost of the Tribute! As far as the tribute goes, I basically stole it for what I paid in today's market, and after fixing the only major issue which was the one rear shock mount in the wheel well busting loose with new sheet metal, its solid. I really like it and even though I got it to be a beater daily and a stop-gap car, I will keep it as long as possible and if it last me a few more years I will have by FAR gotten my money's worth. Plus with the fact that I was just able to drop the equivalent amount of money in cash in full one might pay for a Macbook or something, and I have no payments on it and it's cheap to insure, I have a bit of extra dough to do some fun stuff to it, as I'm currently working on upgrading the sound system. Already have an aftermarket Kenwood double-din deck in it and have a small powered subwoofer in the mail 👍 I'll run the wheels off of it and maybe by the time I'm ready to move on from it the used car market and crazy loan interest will have settled down a bit and I can get something a little newer and with more bells and whistles. Maybe I'll even stick with Mazda and go with a few year old CX-5, they seem to get stellar reviews from owners and I love Mazda's recent design language.
They are amazing cars. They can go absolutely anywhere and do anything as I have found with this one, I need to make a one year owner ship report. Thing to watch out for is cooling system, they like to blow head gaskets when overheated even slightly, and I have found they run quite hot. I replaced all the plastic components on my one.
We have a 2006 2.3L 4 cylinder automatic FWD. It's been through blizzards, hauled literal tons of rusty steel, and only needed an alternator, idler pulley, and control arm refresh (aside from the normal consumables of course). Speedy no- reliable on back roads- absolutely. Only get 23 mpg on a good day but that's not terrible for a small truck/camper. Oh yeah, the headliner fabric is now sagging but a few spiral pins hold it in place pretty good.
I find it handy on camping trips to just pop it to grab something from my cooler. Sometimes things shift and opening the entire trunk is a bad Jenga move. We pack a lot of stuff.
Practical vehicle. Useful. I see one that's a pristine white Ford Tribute. Yes, that's the badge. Interesting! The rear seat truly provides a FLAT cargo floor! Many SUVs are so cramped that their cargo space is basically the equivalent of a sedan trunk, or there is too much sh*t in the way (rear seat crap cupholders), or bulky seats that never fold flat.
I have a manual 5 speed 2wd tribute I believe 2005. I adore it but I think the timing chain went out and need it fixed. We sleep in the back often. We completely remove the seat portion in the back, it's really easy. We've gone back and forth across the US several times and off grid camping all over. It can actually take off pretty well! It handles great. BE CAREFUL if you use a roof bag. This car is a bit tippy if too tall. The AC definitely pulls power away from the car.
The only Tribute came with floor transmission and rear disc brakes until 2009 Tributes regressed into dangerous rear drum brakes then imminently axed in 2011 for good.
My first car was an 2006 tribute with 250k miles and a nearly dead transmission. It wasn't good but i only paid $1,300 for it. Now i got a jeep grand cherokee.
I had no idea that small suvs are supposed to be fast. I'm the original owner of my '03 LX 6-cylinder with only 115k miles. I plan on keeping it until it no longer passes California smog test (if I still live here bc within 5 years I plan to live in Montana).
in europe the 2.0l 5 speed manual configuration is the most common one - this car is the ultimate suv ( it aint a full offroader even with the diff lock in my opinion) but this good old shitbox can do anything
Looking at a 2004; so that's why I'm here. Has 230,000 miles. 6 cyl. It's an 4wd version. Also, considering a 2008 Honda Pilot about the same mileage. What to look for or beware of?
With tributes and escapes, I genuinely don’t go for the v6s because of the fuel economy, the v6s are quite thirsty. The 4cyls not as much. and also they aren’t that easy to work on compared to the 4 cylinders. The 01-05 4cyls were a 2.0 with a timing belt, 06-12 were the 2.3 with a chain, so I’d go for a 2.3.
This is the most amazing vehicle ever made (is what i would say if it was a hyper car that had a 0-60 of 2.9 seconds) this car sucks I have owned one for 3 years now, this car is fun (after dropping 3k worth of parts into it)it has lived through 250k rough miles i would not recommend this car to anyone, but i love it.
Oh you think? Interesting. I think it looks a bit better than the older versions, but they still look alright. It’s a pretty plain and boring car, thought after owning this one for a year, I have to say it has supprised me with how capable it is off-road.
@@willpower3544 I didn't see the engine in car on video, but, my 3.0 V6, as the whole car - is the best in the world. By price, power, reliability, comfort and off-road potential. 9 years I've never got stock in mood or snow in Russia. Today, my car is 20 years old, and it's still can throw out of road all the Chinese cars, many modern Germans and Japans.

this is the best comment I could've possibly just read considering I just got one lol
@@trimags9316 still going at 321k miles. just treat it good, and do regular maintenance and you’ll be fine!
Same, but mines at 193k

i just got a 2003 tribute so im researching these cars, but i really ended up with a really good car. i am so excited to camp in it

The purpose of the glass opening in the back on the hatch is if someone is parked right behind you and you can’t fully open the hatch
I find it handy on camping trips to just pop it to grab something from my cooler. Sometimes things shift and opening the entire trunk is a bad Jenga move. We pack a lot of stuff.
It’s mainly used for grocery’s I believe but it also wouldn’t be bad if you took it camping and wanted fresh air in the car as you slept

Interesting! Mine is a four cylinder 4wd automatic. Only thing I wish is that it was manual!
@@willpower3544I have manual 2002 but I couldn’t find gear shift cable.
Thinking about buying one as a beater. 2006 Mazda Tribute V6 FWD since 4x4 is more maintenance and problems as they age..
Great review
The story of a love affair between a boy and a tribute 😂 Cool video Will well done, the bonnet surfing at the end was a nice touch 🤩
I deffinely want to make some videos with the e46 soon. Just not sure what to do with it, probably something similar to this

Ayee, I have a 2001 tribute lx, mine has the duratec v6 and man it’s a fun ass car
That’s good! I’ve always wanted to drive a v6, this one is quite slow. What kind of fuel economy do you get?
@@willpower3544 I usually get 11-12 city and 14-15 highway, it also pulls from 20-60+ mph really hard

Nice Car 👍
I have 2004, it keeps me from speeding… small engine, can’t haul butt…
V6 0-60 is a lot quicker than 10.6 seconds. That might be for the 2.3.
The 2.3 0-60 is 3-5 business days.
That is the same as my Mums Ford Everest 3.2
You trying to act out Doug DeMuro? XD
THIS!!!! Is a Mazda Tribute. And today, I’m going to show you all of its quirks and features and then I’m going to give it a WillScore.
@@willpower3544 I THOUGHT SO! 😂
The NVH on these are atrocious. Never disliked another car any more than this one. It's stale white bread.
my mazda tribute fast its front wheel drive and burns out
I think the manual has more get up and go❤
Кроме скорости ?Она ошалеть как едет ,даже вжимает
