Justin you absolute legend. Teaching soo many people from all over the world for free, you should be so proud with what you've accomplished. Thank you again :)
Hi Justin, some people have a knack for taking something simple and making it complicated. You, on the other hand, have taken the incredibly beautiful song “Greensleeves”, which sounds like a complicated song to play, and you have taught it in a manner that puts it within the grasp of the average player. That is no small feat, and you deserve sincere praise for being such an excellent, effective teacher. That’s not to say that learning the song is going to be a walk in the park because there are lots of things to sink your teeth into (rolling your fingers, only playing specific notes and not the entire chord, playing in time, etc), but you’ve demystified the song by providing chord diagrams, tabs, , excellent demonstrations, repetition, etc, plus you provide lots of encouragement and suggestions for success. After watching this video, I am completely confident that I can learn this song, just in time for Christmas! Thank you and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
Absolutely gorgeous! It's posting is a bit late for me... I just played this in a "concert" for the other monks I live with. Since I'm just a beginner (following your courses, natch), I played the chords as simply as I could. This inspires me to keep going... thanks, Justin!
Ya. I had to keep it to chords only and try to find the rhythm with strum patterns. I could do some of the little single note fills but I'm a picker, never been good at plucking... My fingers are too big.... There's gotta be a euphemistic joke in there somewhere... Lol
Many thanks for the super thanks and supporting the channel. It means a lot. Cheers 😊 | Richard_close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide & Approved Teacher www.justinguitar.com
Thank you, Justin! Another great lesson. My wife was asking me to play some Christmas songs and I’d been able to improvise a single note/string jazz version, but knowing these chords and techniques is a game changer for me. Again thanks so much!--Best regards, Jack
Can you believe it took me until last week to discover your channel, the website and that huge collection of guitar courses!? Holy moly, this is the most amazing guitar related content I have ever seen, period! Already refreshing my guitar skills with some of your intermediate lessons, thanks you very much. 🙏
I'm often amazed at how many different tutorials there are for the same song.. then I am enriched by the unique nuances of each one! I enjoy playing this song a bit more fingerstyle, but I definitely benefited from (and enjoyed) this vid. Thanks! ✌️
Fantastic Justin. Such a great song. When I picked up playing guitar again around two years ago. This was the first song I tried to learn. For better or worse. I really struggled but I got the hang of it. I am going to revisit this song with your tab. Thanks.
As I mentioned on the version of this video from a few days back, I use the Greensleeves chords to practice my quick changes as it's all beginner stage chords and changing on most beats (not always).
@@justinguitar Thanks Justin. As I'm strumming and avoiding the F chord, the chords I use are slightly different but sound OK. If anyone wants to try them, set your metronome slow at first then increase the speed. how come everytime I think of a song to learn, you just come out with a video of it!!! you rock!! long time subscriber here, back when justin sent me a personal thank you :) glad you are still doing what you do! cheers
Great lesson. So true, people are impressed when they can recognise what you play on any instrument. Great song for that and not too hard. I learned it the easy way single note, but this is a better way. The hardest part of learning something for me is knowing exactly how it goes. This one is easy in that regard.
Amazing sounding and exactly what I was looking for - I'm both getting into fingerstyle a little bit AND was looking for something to prep before Christmas. That said though, it's pretty challenging and I feel like quite a bit more advanced than your Grade 3 course!
Superb, as always Justin. However, at the 1:30 mark you recommend printing it out but I can't find that or the tab for Greensleeves. Keep up the great lessons!

Can you do a lesson how to put our fingers when fingerstyle playing..? I got difficalt to put fingers to go uppwords when thumb is infront of them Thank you/Alex from Sweden
Great lesson, Justin! That guitar sounds beautiful! Does anyone know what brand it is? There is a frog on the headstock. (More than likely, it's way more than my budget will allow.) 😏 😁
Not sure where to turn for help. I downloaded the course app and set up for the subscription. I thought I knew what my password is, and so I wanted to go get the free tab for this lesson but couldn't find it on the website so I thought I was supposed to log in. My password wouldn't work. I submitted the form for reset to have a reset link sent to me. It didn't show up in my email. I've tried it about 10 times, and even tried to a different email thinking maybe I wasn't using the right email. I don't know where to go from here.
Sorry, but this gives me the willies. This song was a staple in our music school and the piece required to be mastered before moving further along to the performance section. I had a mental block then and it still haunts me now after getting through it and later performing classical music for 20 years. To play this on my guitar would ruin the instrument for me :)
Just in case (get it? Justin case...) you do want to sing along as you're playing: Alas my love you do me wrong To cast me off discourteously; And I have loved you oh so long Delighting in your company. Greensleeves was my delight, Greensleeves my heart of gold Greensleeves was my heart of joy And who but my Lady Greensleeves I have been ready at your hand To grant whatever thou would’st crave; I have waged both life and land Your love and goodwill for to have.
