Hello everyone, I hope that you’re all well. Two years have passed since I reviewed the Amazon Echo Dot Gen 4 and now we have the new Echo Dot Gen 5 so it’s time to revisit the world of Alexa.
I’m a regular Amazon reviewer and member of their Vine review programme. However, this review is entirely independent and based on a product that I pre-ordered on the day it was announced and purchased at full RRP. The opinions are entirely my own.

Fascinating review. Thanks. I agree about the 3rd Gen, they were on sale for £24.99 @ Argos and JLP (Amazon had sold out) so I seized the day, thankfully as they've gone back up to £39.99.
Although "obsolete," I much prefer the design. Mine sits atop my old (but still working) Wharfedale Speaker and I've managed to get it to control 2 lamps via Smart Plugs.
But, for me, an avid listener to LBC Radio, it's great to have it, at a command, find the station etc.
I like the clock 3rd Gen and thought to get one for the bedroom, but they seem to be impossible to find, brand new, so I'm looking out for when the 5th Gen With Clock is on offer! 😉😉

Very good video, question: I have the echo dot 4th gen & also amazon services but didn't renew my prime services, can I still use the echo dot to play music just the same? or is it a case it will play music but just with a lot of ads?

I just recently got the echo dot 3 for $0.99 on Amazon. I believe it was an early black Friday deal. I've got the echo show 5 and waiting for my echo dot 5 to arrive.

Mate stop saying Alexa all the time or beep it cause my Echo Dot was going crazy while watching your video
That’s why I turned the microphone off on the Echos while I was recording. I did think about blanking out the Alexa’s but the video is aimed at first time Echo buyers who wouldn’t have one to be triggered.
did you have to buy a starter bundle to get a cable and plug? looking on Amazon there's lots of mention of buying em separately, or just the device itself.
The power adapter should be in the box (2:10 in the video). I’m not aware of any starter bundles or buying items separately, at least not in the UK.
