I've no idea how you juggle everything you do and still smash out content this good. Brilliant tip about turning one of the switch fuses around to show the label detail. It's great to see you back on the tools and enjoying what you're so good at. A huge thank you for sharing and putting the time and effort that you do into these vids, it really is appreciated.
Hope you enjoyed that roast! Looking forward to the DB changeover. Maybe another Glasgow for a last-man-out light switch? 🤔👍

If you have already overtightened the conductors, you may as well either leave them that tight or replace them as you have already smashed them down. Doing it then to the correct tightness may well be under tight as the cable space has been reduced.

Glasgows are in fact fuse-switch-disconnectors as the fuse link carrier is physically moved in order to perform the disconnection. Exels are switch-disconnector-fuses where there's a set of knife switches in series with a set of fuses. In BT we fit Exel fuseboards as standard with either an Exel or Glasgow switch-disconnector close-coupled to act as a local isolator. I always specified Glasgows because my colleagues and I considered them more reliable than Exels which are prone to jamming when not regularly used. I recently found out our current AC policy manager has the opposite opinion!

@@residualcurrent Good point, the Schneider is definitely labelled as a switch-fuse. "Proper" MEM/Eaton Glasgow switches are marked as fuse-switches. I never actually knew you could get switch-fuses that look and feel like a Glasgow.

Busy man ... respect 🙌 And thanks for this interesting little video. All for a Glasgow Switch eh.
Just glad I'm not a lone at grossly underestimating how long a job like this actually takes. Always seem quicker in our heads eh.
Them torque settings seemed low, but if it's in the notes I guess they are right.. bet you kept second guessing even as you left and drove home. 😉
But anyway, thanks for the video... looking forward to the board swap. My own OCD would change that trunking too... but thats just me.
Thanks once again Mikey. Respect 💪

Ive been looking at alternatives to Paxolin (resin bonded laminated board) Ive been searching for the Darvic board in this video and apparently it is no longer manufactured under that name and the product is now called Salbex? Not sure how accurate this info is, but has got me thinking about other alternative products such as standard PVC or HDPE or even acrylic sheet, could any of these be used and if not why?

I had the same issue on a job and used heat shrink. Granted I had the right size but thought it would be worth mentioning if you come across a similar cable in the future.

if a three phase circuit breaker in FEDERAL ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTION BOARD makes a POP when moved ON when no machinary is turned on, and all the 240 sockets and lights work. BUT NEXT TIME that circuit breaker is moved ON it POPS with an old lathe connected [WHEN LATHE SWITCHED ON AFTERWARDS just a dull quiet hum/ NO SPARKS NO POPS but does not turn ] but lathe has not had anything done to it since it was last working in same place. BUT NOW some 240 sockets work and some lights work but rest DON'T. COULD THAT BE A PHASE gone-- by a main fuse in the FEDERAL ELECTRIC ISOLATOR. there is NO SIGNS OF BURNING/SMOKE in distribution board.

I have no idea why they are so poor and for ever peeling off within minutes of sticking them on the single phase don’t seem to do it a much but the quality is lower with the 3 phase ones they give you, which I don’t understand?
