    I'll just say, standing at the corner exit here REALLY puts it into perspective. I've watched the 12 hours for years, Sebring is one of my top 3 favorite tracks in the world, but even knowing how bumpy it is claimed to be you don't realize how bumpy it REALLY is until you see cars jumping through the air - at speed, in person.
    The slo mo with the Mazda prototype pretty much sums it up - ramps on a race track, prepare to have any semblance of balance and grip destroyed. Now remember how fast they are going through there, which you just dont get the same feel for on TV.
    And that, is why Sebring is awesome. Bumpy is an understatement.

      +Empty Box Awesome to see you on here. Yea I've been running at Sebring with the Prototype C7 on iRacing. Turn 17 is pretty intense. Cool to see the bumps exist in real life and that drivers have to figure out how to run it. I was as the Rolex 24 a few weeks back. It was pretty awesome. I wanted to jump in one of the cars sooo bad lol

      You're right about that. I've seen from onboard cameras how tough it is to keep the car from sliding. The camera just rattles like a b***h! Scary!

    So am I to take from all the complaining about Turn 17 being rough and that European drivers wimpishly complain about it and that the truest measure of a driver's and car's abilities are tested, that it is a terrible track.
    Yeah, God forbid that there are serious tracks in AMERICA, of all places, that test the car and driver.
    Can you hear yourselves whining about EXACTLY what racing is about?
    If this was a European track with such a ruddy rough corner or set of corners you'd all be jizzing yourselves. Nurburgring Nordschleife ring any bells, hypocrites.
    America: Taking the mysticism out of racing by making it actually cool, fun, accessible, effectively in your backyard, and in straight English.
    Stop complaining because you can understand it and it is in America.

    • @DeaKen002
      @DeaKen002 10 лет назад +1

      I've never heard European drivers complain, they all love it other wise you wouldn't get the additional entries into Sebring and Audi/Porsche/BMW etc wouldn't go and test there. They say 12 hours at Sebring is like 24 at Le Mans, so once again they've never said its a terrible track, also no different to the NASCAR drivers/commentators saying how dangerous Le Mans or Bathurst is.

    • @shitpostadmiralty2921
      @shitpostadmiralty2921 8 лет назад

      I've never heard a single NASCAR driver ever say that Le Mans is dangerous. Most when they retire from NASCAR want to race in it. (This is besides the fact NASCAR owns IMSA)

      TRUMP 2016 TRUMP 2020 Brian Vickers did when he raced there in 2011?, he made the point on how dark it was at night and the closing speeds. That's just one driver, I've never heard European divers complain about Sebring.

    As a former Chin instructor this corner was always difficult to teach. But there are references to get you through it. You almost set it up as two seperate corners. One things for sure, it’s bumpy now matter what line you take through there.

    Turn 17 is unique with the bump and it throws everything off. It is the one time where the calmness of the long backstretch is interrupted. Rode around this track in a Corvette at Chan Motorsports. Turn 7 is not an easy one either. No other track is so flat and bumpy as this.

    It's difficult, but nothing like the chase at Bathurst.
    The chase is a 300Km/h chicane type corner (you don't brake for it) with bumps, camber AND elevation changes in the middle of the corner!

    • @roflcopter645
      @roflcopter645 10 лет назад +1

      svvitchio the chase is full throttle at 300Km/h, it's not smooth either (just watch MW's 2007 top 10 shootout lap).
      The corner speed for this turn at sebring is at least 100Km/h slower than the chase. (there's a difference between approach speed and cornering speed)

    I will NEVER forget those bumps. I have driven Skip Formula, Porsche GT3, Porsche Turbo and Ferrari 430 Challenge Stradale through there. EACH ONE WAS DIFFERENT.
    My car was the 996 Turbo for track. I have photos of that thing skipping along on 3 and 2 tires. I was there on a lapping day when Audi was finishing unpacking for LMP testing in 2007. The guys were watching us locals haul ass through there and wondering what the speaker in the video says "what is up with that turn?" LOL
    I call it "the brave turn" you use about 85-90% brakes because you are in a turn on the fast cars with downforce, it is hilarious.

    To connect like that, to see the real life exposition of it, a drivers interview with some beautiful shots and excellent choice of music is just art.

    Turn 17 is among my top 5 difficult corners since the car keeps bouncing you are never sure when to get on the throttle since you never get the bite from the front end of the car,,, to early you get understeer/push on to the wall resulting in you having to back off the throttle,,, too late to get on the throttle you lose speed down the back straight,,, basically if you take it wrong you lose a ton of time resulting in a slow lap or guys passing you into the 1st corner in the race...

  • @SR-fx5sm
    @SR-fx5sm 6 лет назад +1

    "...one of the most legendary corners in the USA" "..coming off the back straight, doing 165-170mph"
    ...nobody said 165mph THROUGH the corner. Surely they are shaving off ALOT of speed well before this turn. Nonetheless fast, scary, impressive...but lets stop the misunderstanding and exaggerating.

      In any case, its not most difficult corner (maybe they dont know spa francorchamps), its the most shitty asphalt :)

    • @traxnada
      @traxnada 10 лет назад +13

      AURELIUSxx It is the most difficult corner I know... And I'm french, and I've been to Spa. It's extremely difficult to be fast in this corner. It's not so much car control that is the problem, it's finding the right line that makes it very difficult. I tend to be suspicious every time an american talks about "the most", "the best" and so on, as they tend to be very USA centered most of the time (see the World Championship in Baseball lol), but in this case, Turn 17 at Sebring is one of the most "difficult" corner ever. The bumps are just extras. it would still be one of the most difficult corner without them. Finding "the" fast line is very, VERY hard there because there are so many and it's very hard to judge whether you've been fast or not... Much harder corner than Eau Rouge which is completly the opposite, with one and only one fast line that you HAVE to catch. Fighting for that line is what makes the corner difficult. At Sebring you can enter 3 wides and the guy with the weirdest line will end up being faster because IN THAT PARTICULAR situation, with other cars being placed where they were, that was the fastest way.

    • @AURELIUSxx
      @AURELIUSxx 10 лет назад +2

    i don't like why every body is bitching….
    i'm european my self and yes its definitely not the hardest corner in the world, but i do understand why they are saying it. i mean it hasn't have any of the elevation changes like the corkscrew or anything like that. but you try to turn in to that corner at a 165mph (265kph for me) make the car stick, take all the massive bumps (The car is jumping) STILL DOING 165MPH and putting on the gas before the end of the corner while steering out to a wall. i know al lot of you don't have the balls to do that. i know fore sure that 80 percent of the people here. haven't actually driven anything on a real race track.

    • @WhyAreYouUpset
      @WhyAreYouUpset 10 лет назад

      do you honestly think the car is holding 165 miles throughout the whole corner?
      id have a hard time believing a f1 car doing it

    • @Martijn00095
      @Martijn00095 10 лет назад

      Phil well, a formula 1 car couldn't do it. not because the speed is to high but because a formula one car can't cope with the bumps. it is to stiff and low, f1 cars don't drive on bumpy tracks they always drive on smooth asphalt. partly because they don't really have a normal suspension to deal with it. but if the track is smooth they could take that corner faster. have you ever watch onboard footage of a f1 car driving on spa?. fore this video i don't know, that's what they say on the video and i don't think there lying. personally i seriously think they can do that. the corner is really faint. but lets say they drive true them with 140mph, still not fast enough fore you?

    • @WhyAreYouUpset
      @WhyAreYouUpset 10 лет назад

      i never said it was slow.
      i just said they arent doing 165

  • @diodrengen2630
    @diodrengen2630 10 лет назад +1

    Haha the American way, always exagerate to impress people:S 165 mph, more like 100-110, so fail.. A formula 1 or indy car couldnt even go through such a corner at that speed, with a bumpy surface like that.. Lastly, its not a difficult corner at all by the looks, but i think its VERY hard to find the fastest line..

  • @etiennegalea
    @etiennegalea 10 лет назад +1

    So basically, it's considered the most difficult because the track is sub-standard (fancy word for 'sh*t').
    Anyway it's a matter of opinion, for me the most difficult turns are the corkscrew in Laguna Seca and the last turn before starting grid in Spa :)

  • @guitarworld101
    @guitarworld101 10 лет назад +2

    It's worse in real life than forza. Their are a lot of bad comments by "know it alls" on here lol. Easily the most difficult corner their are many different lines for it as well, A lot of drivers look at it as a double apex corner. Eau rouge is smooth and its just a fast corner and if you were to compare every corner on every "track" this one happens to have huge bumps and very difficult braking zones. This is why I agree with the video and the drivers!! And I saw someone comment on the chase!!LOL you turn right going fast their is no difficultly there and no their is no bumps like that or off camber parts it's actually very smooth and the track is famously cambered for the cars. And recently repaved so your for a arcade game isn't the true gritty old track which was a bit bumpy at the top of the mountain but that's about it nothing like Sebring.

    I was so skeptical about these US tracks. I thought the real tracks are all in Europe or Asia. Now i`ve watched several USCC events and i`m just amazed. There`s something different about their raceways. All kinds of asphalt changes through the lap, there are no cerbs in some corners. It seems to be a different kind of racing somehow. And Sebring is maybe the most illustrative of all US tracks. Looking forward to seeing the 12h. next year. :)

      This learning of turn 17 was filled by so much passion. I learned so much. I especially learned it was a hard turn when a Ferrari was filmed on it. Ferrari is filled with passion. Especially in slo-mo. I feel so much smarter as a gearhead because of this.

    I think the title and description on this video is just hook to get people to watch. And leave angry comments. Come on Drive! Sop contributing to the anger on youtube!
    Btw, does anyone have any idea how often cars crash/spin out at this corner compared to others around the world? (Looks pretty forgiving compared to some. eg Brünnchen.)

    straight line speed killed cars

  • @allasorte3670
    @allasorte3670 10 лет назад

    This is no doubt the hardest corner at Sebring. Been through it many times in real life, still pretty tricky for me even now. (And that's entry at 135 mph, not 165, since that's all my car will do there.) Line it up wide, then turn in early, a straight line as close to the barricade as you can. Now you're out a bit to the left of the traditional, tight line. Brake, then tighten the turn to the right. Under the bridge get on the gas again but aim as far right as you can and apex near the grass on your right, so your track out is as late and wide as possible. And hold on, since that apex is where the most bumps are. (This is what works for me, at least. YMMV)
    In Forza 5, the best line is a lot tighter than real world. Turn in and keep close to the barricade the whole way, then open it up just after the bridge and watch out for the wall on your left as you track out. Tough, but fun!

      I do the same as you but usually go a little wide of the apex by the bridge and start tracking out then.
      the line you were talking about is definitely the way to go for high hp cars though

    I thought the corkscrew at Laguna Seca would be tougher.

    • @spdcrzy
      @spdcrzy 10 лет назад +3

      the corkscrew is difficult and if you come in too fast, you'll spin out and hit the wall a la 458 Challenge - but there IS a right way to do it. turn 17 is more difficult because there is NO right way to do it.
