If the Empire would have ever promoted a droid, it would have been something like the old clone war super tactical officer droids, not an assassin droid.

There was such a build of ridiculous and unnecessary stuff, like the all the stupid grand moffs (a freaking assassin droid, really?) and poor management led to things like the extreme overuse of the grand moff title, which was supposed to be important and rare, but was instead practically handed out to every major governor and general in the empire.

In Canon, it could be assumed that there was at least 501 clone legions. In Legends, there were 500 legions known to the public, plus the 501st Legion (which was a secret legion).
