    I appreciate all the little tid-bits of info in text along the way, I only understand like 25% of all the things to do to set up perfect landings.
    many camera views nice to see. Also nice landing. I'll be back to watch more

      Thank you K.! I will be making more videos, but not too many in the near future. I'm flying very sparsely this period, so the focus is now more on the flying. Hopefully it will be better in the coming summer.

      Op de hand vliegen wordt bij ons nog aangemoedigd. Ik doe het zelf heel veel, het is leuk en ik denk ook dat het heel goed is voor een piloot om op de hand te blijven vliegen.

      Precies. Ik film nu even bewust niet. De focus moet voor iedereen even maximaal bij het vliegen liggen, we vliegen toch allemaal wat minder. Het komt wel weer!

    Thank you for sharing this nice video landing at GCLP (my home). Not the best weather in the Canary Islands but of course more interesting for me to see how you take control of the aircraft on final. Just one question. Was the glideslope out of service per NOTAM? In the video it seems that it was really working. I have a very nice memory of Transavia. I was lucky in 1991 to visit the B737-300 cockpit during the flight from EHAM to GCLP. Moreover the flight crew invited me for the first time ever to take the jumpseat during the landing at GCLP. Great experience! I will never forget it.

      Hi Ernesto, thank you for your kind words.
      The glideslope outage was announced by NOTAM and confirmed by ATIS. When we program a non precision approach (in this case the LOC app) in the FMC it will calculate a corresponding glidepath. On the approach, if you look at the pitch mode of the autoflight system, you see G/P (glidepath) instead of G/S (glideslope). So the vertical dot will give deviation from the calculated path instead of deviation from the g/s signal. This is somewhat less accurate, therefore the higher minima. Hopefully this answers your question.

      @@Ray737Pilot Hi Ray. Thank you for your quick answer! Oh yes, you are right. I checked the video again and I found the G/P sign instead of G/S. I didn't know that the FMC was able to calculate a glidepath for non precision app. Yes, you set a DA of 740ft for the LOC 03L app, quite higher than for the standard CAT I ILS 03L app. I see you use LIDO mPilot on the EFB. Do you also use the document manager (DVMS) inside the mPilot? Once again, congratulations for your great videos! Best regards

      @@ernestocaraballo6229 No we don't use the document manager. Our company documents are in an app called Aviobook.

    Is landing at Gran Canaria. Las Palmas is not the name of the island.

    • @Ray737Pilot
      @Ray737Pilot  2 года назад +2

      You are correct. The island is Gran Canaria, and the official name of the airport is 'Gran Canaria airport'. But the airport is generally referred to as 'Las Palmas airport', named after the nearby city. This is also reflected in the ICAO and IATA codes of the airport: GCLP / LPA.

    Why does the cockpit look like a 737 Max

    • @Ray737Pilot
      @Ray737Pilot  2 года назад

      It's the other way around: the 737 MAX cockpit looks a lot like the 737 NG cockpit. This is done because of 'communality'. The differences between flying the 737 NG and the 737 MAX are very few, so pilots can fly the two planes on the same type rating. If the MAX would be very different from the NG than pilots would have to do a complete new type rating course to be able to fly the MAX, which is much more expensive for the company and takes much more time.
