- Ex-Home Secretary Suella Braverman believes 'a token flight' to Rwanda will take off, but feels this will not be a strong enough deterrent to minimise the number of small boats coming to the UK.
On the ECHR, she told Nick Ferrari at Breakfast: 'Ultimately to regain control of our borders, we do need to leave', but that Rishi Sunak 'never agreed with me on that proposition'.
She also said the Conservatives do face a 'defeat' in the next election, and that she is 'worried' about the prospect of a Labour government led by Keir Starmer, 'who can't define a woman' and 'prefers to take the knee, rather than stand up for British values'.

@@danielbanbury378 The only problem with this is that politicians and political parties have become football teams - they have diehard fans that will refuse to accept reality, no matter how much they are shown to be objective losers, because of the sunk cost fallacy. If these ghouls keep being platformed, they'll become a part of the parliamentary furniture and will never be exorcised as they truly deserve to be.

Leaving the ECHR is absolutely disgraceful. Yes that kills the rights of refugees but also protections for British citizens from any radical left or right wing government. The ECHR is nothing to do with the EU.

The ECHR has nothing to do with the legal problems either. The courts use the wording in the UN charters..
We won't leave, it's all bluster. Leaving would adversely impact on the Belfast Agreement and the USA and EU as guarantors wouldn't allow it.

@@Edward-cv2gw I think the point is, usually when someone benefits from societies kindness they can see how it is a kind and fair to offer that same generosity that they benefitted from, to others.
Because, USUALLY, if they benefitted then it is easy to understand how someone else might benefit. And those who receive kindness usually are happy to regift that same kindness.
If you benefit from something but froth at the mouth at the opportunity to (ineffectively) make other people's lives harder, that shows either a lack of empathy or a lack of understanding. She seems like a sociopath precisely because she seems to have no empathy for others, when she should know more than many how it feels to come from an immigrant background.
It’s cost us over £500MILLION, to send exactly -21 refugees to Rwanda. So it’s cost taxpayers OVER £23MILLION PER REFUGEE. What a monumental waste of money.
The real question is where did that money go? Or more accurately to whom?

Correct me if an wrong but getting on boats to come to the UK seeking asylum is not illegal. Only those that are not seeking asylum, eg looking for work/living in the UK without a VISA were illegal and that must be established before being sent anywhere else
