Montana was over rated. He would throw a quick slant to Rice for 8 to 10 yards and then Rice would run for 60 or 70 for a TD. So Montana's stats are not reflective of his overall passing ability. Montana could not throw the ball like Troy did on this particular play. This play was all Troy. A perfect lead pass so the WR did not have to slow down one bit.
I guess you didn't see the Montana to John Taylor 97 yard play vs. the Rams on Monday night.Same set of circumstances as far as his team being backed up. If this play was all Troy, then all Harper had to do was wait in the end zone and wait for the football to arrive. C'mon man! Give Harper as much credit as you would give Rice credit. The receivers finshed the play in both accounts. Anyway - look at the stats. Montana won 4 Super Bowls, Aikman 3. Montana's teams during that time beat all of his toughest competition. The Bears, Giants, Redskins,Eagles, Rams, Saints, etc. feared playing SF during that time. Montana was the Tom Brady and Michael Jordan of his time. Nobody wanted to face him with the game on the line. Clutch. I never seen Aikman do that. No matter how good your team is, you are not going to blow everybody out 100 percent of the time. You are also not going to be perform 100 percent on your game all the time. You still have to find away to win those games. Can't say that with Troy. Montana you would.
And one play don't make you the GOAT. Randall Cunningham did that vs. Buffalo Bills ON THE ROAD, but he isn't the GOAT. Warren Moon threw for over 500 yards in a game and he isn't either. Now if you had said Terry Bradshaw , then yes that would be an real discussion. Bradshaw won 4 Super Bowls in the 70s with Pittsburgh when WRs were murdered from the time they tried to get off the line of scrimmage and few went over the middle to think about making a catch. QBs during the 70s were treated like rag dolls by defensive linemen. Aikman, with his injury-prone self, wouldn't have made it thru 3 games in the NFL then the way he liked to whine. The GOAT? Bradshaw or Montana are easy picks then Aikman any day., any week and anytime.
+Elder Samuel Williams bradshaw??? you just lost any sort of crediblity...what a moron...anyway..Aikman isnt even in the top 10..here are qb's better than him just off the top of my head...Montana..Elway..Rodgers..Brees..Manning...Rothlesburger...Unitas..Marino..Staubach...Favre...Young.. one of the most underrated recievers ever.
Except after C
The greatest QB who ever lived. Period!
There's a guy named Montana that can refute that statement.
Kelly...Moon..Brady...thats 13 without really trying...and ELWAY==GOAT
My GOD he must have fired that thing 50 yards! Oh the days!
That’s about right. He was about 4 yards deep and hit him at the 49. So about 53. And hit him in stride. It was a phenomenal pass.
And watch that offensive line block for him Cowboys now need to take some notes from these guys!
@@80srocker71 that block by Tuinei was spectacular. He turned his guy sideways and then kept him at bay with his back turned.
BEST CREW EVER ANOUNCING ❤
That's Jimmy Johnson - no matter what u think of him personally, he was the daringest coach in NFL history! Throwing deep out of end zone in a playoff, damn. BTW - Alvin Harper stunk, he was made to look good by Irvin and Emmit (and Troy), once he was "the guy" he busted. He wasn't that good at UT either, fast w/ no hands.
Ummmmm that was Barry Switzer not Jimmy Johnson LMAO
@@johncollins8234 And I'd give credit to the coordinators or even Aikman on that call, Switzer was likely not even paying attention...
blachloch1 lol probably thought he was still coaching at OU
I miss those days what a team we had the cowboys 90 s dynasty aikman s accurancy strong arm alvin harper was a big time deep threat with his speed that offensive line of dallas emmitt smith michael irvin moose johnston fullback who can block the hell out of you our defense our when we had a defense charles haley darren woodson deion sanders i miss it as cowboys fan i miss it 1990 s was a great decade to be a cowboys fan and i miss jimmy johnson forever grateful 🙏 building this dynasty
Aikman accuracy was amazing
They need to bring these uniforms back.
I'm more impressed by the pass protection than anything else.
Still remember this like yesterday
Madden and Summerall the best due to ever announce a NFL game!!!
What a perfect pass to the spot for Harper to run under in stride. If only our current QB Dakota could pass like that.
Those in my opinion were the Cowboys best jerseys they've ever had. I don't see Dallas wear them anymore. I only remember seeing them in '94 during the 75th Anniversary Season.
+KORY ANDREL SCOTT They wore them on Thanksgiving 2015 vs Carolina.
+KORY ANDREL SCOTT Thanksgiving of 2015 they wore it
***** You're welcome
They occasionally wear them still. They have on Thanksgiving several times. That design is a variation on their original 1960 jerseys.
the 1970 darker blue jersey's were the best !!!! even tho the cowboy's considered those jerseys bad luck.
Harper doing what he did frequently...burn Terrell "Toast" Buckley
Wow. I can FEEL the excitement from Pat Summerall!
As a Steeler fan I am even in awe. Troy arm and accuracy was something.
This is how you go Deep🏈💯
Cowboys owned the 90s
Those were the days
What about the block by Mark Tuinei? Used his back to keep the end from getting to Aikman.
Damn, I love those uniforms.
ahhh, the memories....
Back in 94 I got one of those 75th anniversary throwback jerseys (Smith) and I wore that thing so often....wore it till it finally fell apart.
The good old days
Beautiful play!
Interesting how on this play there were only 2 angles show on TV. Both angles are cameras from both end zones.
That thing was like a missle hitting its target beautiful pass
What;s good, Kenny Tilley... stopped by to watch a few of your vids... take care.
Tom Brady’s 88 yard bomb to Troy Brown to win the Miami game in OT was a gem 💎
There were those who said Troy didn’t throw a great deep ball. Show them this.
John Madden was right Dallas offensive line was best ever. Eric Williams was absolute beast he used to dominate Reggie White. They used to move Reggie around so he wouldn't have to go against Williams. Williams should be in Hall of Fame.
That was a 🚀 missle by Aikman
Man those 90s cowboys teams were fun to watch.. unless you were the packers Bill's or 49ers lol actually the 49ers beat them in the 94 nfc championship game that year but struggled previously with them
I think Troy Aikman was the best QB in NFL history.
i think you should stick to watching soccer games in sissy ass europe..
Naw
I was watching this game and when I saw Troy going that long I knew this was over!
He caught that on the star! ⭐️
Buckley was pitiful!Loved it!
As The Playmaker has said- when Troy threw the ball, he knew which 8 it would hit on his jersey.
I love that guy he's a great cowboy
Troy Aikman threw absolute dart to Alvin Harper!!!
If only Summerall and Madden were 25-30 years younger.
Man I miss Texxas Stadium. Every seat in there war perfect from the 50yd line to the end zones!!
Those were the good ole days I highly doubt that Dak Prescott can make that throw. Sheat
Troy showing off the gun!
Awesome.......yesteryear glory days
Jimmy was the architect of this dynasty. He literally traded 1 player for an entire roster of H.O.F.'ers. O.k....it was a LITTLE more nuanced than that but, you smell what I'm stepping in. I wonder if Jimmy still sends Christmas gifts to the Vikings every year? Lol
The good old days!!!!!
I was at that game..my 1st.that was a laser!
Alvin was big loss for them, they never had nobody to compliment Michael lrving it shows after 95 Superbowl year
Quindell Holmes 100% correct dumb nice by Jerry Jones as usual
Dumb move by Jerry Jones I hate this suggestive text it changes my fucking words constantly
It was smart to let Harper walk he was paid by Tampa Bay to be a number one. He is one of the biggest free agency busts of all-time. Harper was one of the guys who got a big head.
@@jamesgross5954 not dumb. Harper wanted to be paid like a #1 receiver and #1 receiver he was not.
@@robgbaby well even he knew on Dallas at best he could have been 3behind Irvin and Novacheck I'm sure I misspelled the best tight end to ever play the games name Jay!.i agree he wasn't # 1 but he could have been way happier at 3 accomplishing more there than anywhere else.He needed to b2 the other guy he would have been the # 1 3rd go to guy to ever play the game !!! Lol now that statement deserves a little Ron Burgandy Crew and their legendary one line descriptions!he was the #1 3rd choice 100% of the time!!
Want to see a crafty, veteran move? Check out Left Tackle #71 Mark Tuinei's pass block to hold off Sean Jones. He gets spun around so he just uses his back to shield him off until Aikman gets the pass off.
The perfect pass!...
Folks, that was a perfectly thrown football. Alvin Harper never broke his stride.
Not running a play-action pass to Harper against the Niners is what kept them from winning 4 SBs in a row. Barry Switzer didn't learn his lesson against the Eagles and tried to run it four times in a row. The Niners held up to the run and then Young hit Rice to change the momentum completely in the NFC championship game. Could have gotten revenge for "the catch" with Harper, who was a world-class high jumper.
Niners jumped on them 21-0 before they could blink. They weren't going to win in '94, just be grateful for the 3 they did win.
