Love the vids. Keep’em coming! I tried this water bottle balancing. There was some “splashing” that occurred inside of the bottles. The “splashed” water particulates got sucked up into intake and into the cylinders. I would recommend using ATF oil instead of water to anyone who might be considering trying this method. This may reduce splashing and if fluid gets sucked into the cylinders, better than water…
Just a casual box of mines I'll set right here while I tweak the carbs on my bike...... also, thanks for this video, building my own manonononometer to do this now!
@@2wheelworkshop It works quiet well. I have done this with aircraftengines as well and have checked afterwards with the gauges - evverything was fine.
@@2wheelworkshop So the ends of the tubes going into the carb boot are just at the mouth of the bottle ? And then just a tube going from one to other equally down the bottom and how did ya make the stoppers
@@2wheelworkshop sweet I will be doing this exact method as soon as my vacuum carb holders come in the mail . Thank you I really didn’t want to have to buy a sync kit. I watch all your videos I have a 79 scrambler build 🤙🏼✌🏼
The first Time in 35years of XS i see someone built and use the Bottlemethode in the right way 👍 but oil ... maybe wasteoil will make it more relax and also a small nozzle in the hoses let the Storm in the bottles calm dowm☝️🧐 But think about: you just cover up the "unperfects" of each cilynder, did the same on the bench, using a vacuumcleaner, then compare it on the running engine!
Nice video, it looks like you may have two different styles of pilot jet there. It’s hard to tell in the video but it looks like the pilot jet you removed from your carbs did not have the little holes along the side of them like the new pilot jets do. They will interchangeable fit however the two styles of pilot jet work in different ways. You must have the pilot jets that match the fuel bowl your using, if that makes sense. Might be worth a little research. If the pilot jets are the same style then forget I said anything. Good video, thanks

Thanks mate. Good idea with the ATF oil.
Nice homemade vacuum sync tool! I like how visually pleasing it is to watch the fluid level out. Looks like lots of fiddling though!
Thanks mate. It is very sensitive.
The bike came along way!! Looks sick

Great video! Thanks
Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it.
Very usefull content. I like the very well described and executed DIY approach for the tools.
Thanks mate. The feedback is much appreciated .
You perfectly explained how to balance out the carbs thanks so much for making everything easy enough for beginners!
After you have done the carbs just use the shaft of a small drillbit to adjust the butterflys mechanicly.
There is not much more to adjust afterwards.
I have seen that method. I will give it a go next time.

Correct for the tubes. I just used duct tape rolled up and sealed with hot melt glue for the stoppers.

Carbs seem like voodoo to some people, to me many times they are far easier to understand than F/I.
They aren't overly complex but tuning can be very tedious and I definitely can't claim to be an expert.

Oil sounds like a good idea. I had another viewer suggest ATF as well.

No problem, I hope I’ve helped you like your videos have helped me. I hope I don’t make you pull your carbs apart for nothing. Thanks again

congrats on the rego,

Great Work! what did you do with the vacuum ports after balancing? Do you plug them off?
Good stuff man, thanks 🤙🏻
Exelent
Are the air bobs always drawing in air when the engine is running or do they twist on and off like a valve?
Where did you get those carb holders with the vacuum barbs? Can only find them for the BS34 carbs. Can't find for BS38's. Thanks!!!

Where is the carb mixture screw on these carbs?
Noiice!

Hey Brodie,
I'm working on a new xs650 and the vacuum tube from the manifold had come loose. Where abouts on the petrol tap does this attach to?
@@2wheelworkshop thanks Brodie. I'm guessing you need to plug the manifold inlet if you replace with standard?
Where did you find the new intake boots?
I got them from geoffsxs.com.au. I'm pretty sure MikeXS has them if you are in the US.
how much was it to import?
This ones not an import. I have another one that I bought from classic style in Seaford but they bulk import and I have no idea of the fees.
