When I first heard her sing, I thought, what a rare and wonderful vocalist. Next I heard her horn playing, and said, she must really be a trumpeter, and then, hearing her on sax, well.....I guess you get where I'm going. :)
I had the opposite experience; first I heard her on Sax (Soprano), then trumpet then voice...I thought what's going on 😲.
All incredibly talented ruclips.net/video/PYkp9_OgdV0/видео.html
Don't stop playing sweetie. We need more talented gals like you in the music field.
Lovely woman who plays lovely music. Thank you miss Motis.
This is not "bravo" , but SUPER BRAVO, at her age. What "can't" she play, that's what I like to know. I really enjoyed that. Thxs.
Didn't Realize Andrea Played Alto Sax she's Awesome, She is Musically Inclined With Natural Beauty and Talent, And Thanks to Joan for Cultivating such Talent Bravo.
Note that in her solo, even at high speed, she's making melodies. Most sax players her age, and many older ones, would be playing calisthenics patterns learned by rote from an exercise book. She does so many things right.
I see, or rather I hear what you mean. There is no mechanical diddle diddle,.
Bravo Bravo Bravo Andrea Motis, Joan Chamorro Josep Traver. Andrea you perform Brilliantly.👏👏👏👏👍😎
A la Johnny Hodges! Brava!
You are absolutely breathtaking. Beyond genius
Trio does a nice rendition of this old tune. Way to go Joan, Andrea, and Hosep!!
amazing - such a mature tone for her age
Hey, Ronie, Andrea is from Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, and even though lately they are traveling abroad quite a lot for concerts, her career is still mostly based in Catalonia. As for the CD, well, I got much better news than in my last post. Recently they've opened an online store which is associated with these artists, and in the website they say they ship worldwide. I'll put the link on the video description, and also a link to her concert agenda in case you'd like to check.
You nailed it! Johnny would be so proud of you! Moreover, your tone and gliss skills are the closest to Johnny’s that I have ever heard. Bravo to you all.
Yes, it’s clear she has listened to Johnny Hodges.
Amazing Andrea!!! Only 15 at the time of this recording, so effortless, she is truly blessed, what a talent!!!
And we are blessed as a result!
big talent and nice that she knows about the beautiful way of saxophone playing by musicians like Benny Carter, Johnny Hodges etc. There is hope!
For music there is always hope. In fact, there is always music. Even if our civilization fails, there will still be plenty of music.
What I do know is that she seems perfectly happy here: she's got the support of her family (which is enormously important for her), she's got friends,, musicians and not, who enjoy her music, and she has had the luck to meet Joan, her sax teacher and clearly, one of the best jazz teachers ever. Also, she is enormously successful: playing at least a couple of times a week, and filling theatres and concert halls. In the States, the market is much tougher, it's much harder to be successful.
Andrea is fantastic on the saxophone, truly excellent. I'd like to hear more of it. I have not heard the sax in her recent performances.
Why is this perfect. I don’t really know. But it is. Really. But who am I? And, this is rare perfection. And anyone who knows it knows. xoxoxoxo!
That's right kids, jazz is cool, and if you play it, you will be cool too.
Listening to this solo for the 10th time it occurs to me that it is a high class flight of non stop improvisation on the order of greatness such as Hodges or Hawkins!! Note that only a slight breath interrupts each new musical statement and how it all ties together despite the free flow of ideas. This is a level of talent Jazz has not seen for awhile how exciting to watch this beautiful talent mature and grow.
You're such a special and rare blessing to this sick tired ol world ❤💯🎶🎷👍❤💯
I agree with your statements... It is just amazing that this girl from Spain is doing our old good song so perfectly, like she grew up here...in US... Just amazing to me...
More talent in this young girls finger than so many of our so called "divas" today have in their entire bodies put together. An absolute joy to listen to. My thanks to her teacher, mentors and of course her, herself, for their very real and sincere dedication to this wonderful style of music. A U.K. Tour? Please???
Whenever I hear Andrea solo on the alto sax I wonder if it isn't her real calling. If I heard her soloing at Jazz at the Philharmonic I would think she was a cross between Johnny Hodges and Benny Carter.
Jazz at its best. None better in my opinion. Barcelona and Joan Chamorro is where it's at.
She is everything but commercial, and plays with her happy heart and soul. I love her.👍
lovely trio
Awesome sound!!!! all sound great !!!!!
So amazing to watch this wonderful musician develop into one of the greats. It would mean nothing without her obvious humility. I envy those who will live long enough to see how far she can take it.
what a quandry is she a sax player Alto or Soprano, or is she a trumpet player or is she a singer, or is she eye candy ---- or is she the whole package, yep its the whole package. Man do we need this breath of fresh air today?
Andrea has always stated that she is primarily a trumpet player who sings and one might add sings marvellously and also plays the alto and soprano sax and fluegalhorn marvelously.
A música é a linguagem universal!
Wonderful! Happy to see her playing Sax. You should see the top lip of some of my old band mates who played Trumpet.
Amiga Andrea!
May you always walk on the sunny side, Andrea -
Oh my God. She´s amazing.
Andrea, Joan & Josep
Buen trabajo Joan..!
thanks
C'était magnifique, bravo Andrea 👍
un tema molt maco i un solo realment impressionant !!
A little Johnny Hodges!!! Love it!!
it is just unbelievable: Andrea is the best today.......
So much talent.
Adrisn desde Argentina.
Bravo!
Genial.
Johnny Hodges está en el aire
I heard Johnny 😍 keep it up!!💯💯💯
Maravillosa.
Que forma de tocar, el sax, Bravo!
bellissima!
very nice well played all.
Fancy.
What is the difference? She is doing whatever she is doing amazingly perfect!
The world lost a magical saxophone player when Andrea Motis was persuaded to do trumpet instead. Just listen to her rendition of All too soon. Unsurpassed. Here she's still very young.
No sabía que entiendo catalán! Gracias desde Argentina Un abrazo!
Genial😂😂😂😂
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💗💗
amazing
Woooooooooow!!!!!!!
You can teach a person the mechanics of playing, but you can't teach someone how to play music. Someone or something smiled on that young woman and said: "you are it".
This girl must have listened to many Coleman Hawkins recordings. She really has that sax down pat!!!
Definitely got the Johnny Hodges vibe going, I like it
hermoso¡¡¡¡¡
I think I understand your point: Jazz started in the States, and you've got all the tradition there. Probably, most of the people she draws inspiration from are from the States, but most are also dead or retired. However, also in Catalonia we have a quite strong tradition, which is necessary for such a young talent to raise. I am sure Andrea would enjoy a visit to the States, and I am sure at some point ehse'll go there, but I don't know if she wants to live there, never asked her that.
great
wooooooooooooow ;D I´m happy ^^
I looked it up for you and you can download both of Joan and Andrea's albums ("Joan Chamorro Presenta Andrea Motis", recorded when Andrea was 14 and "Feeling Good", recorded between the ages of 16 and 17 and released just few months ago) on Amazon.com. If you'd like to get the actual CDs, try at fnac.es, but I am not sure if they ship internationally, you should check that.If you can't get the CDs and really want them, I could ask Joan if they would he would send them to you.
Show! Maravilha!!!
cute and talented what more could you wish for
Fab love her
Brava
Andrea is rare talent
I would not be surprised if Andra would perform at Blue Note cafe ( World known place) in Downtown Manhattan... on the 4th street. where all the famous musicians were performing for many years.... I can sponsor her trip if she would agree.....
Not right that one so young or so beautiful for that matter so be able to interpret such a number in such a way.
Tonight is the first I heard their music. How amazing and blessed I am. Where can CDs be purchased? Where are they located?
in the Gala Premios Max 2012, (TVE2 first part) you can see Andrea playing Please Don´t Talk About Me... whith a good sound
brava!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Johnny Hodges...the attack by the side...wowww
Andrea should be in our country --- America!
And Andrea would be 100% happier!
América is not a Country ... It is a Continent .
She is happy where she is, not everyone wants to live in The USA believe it or not.
Johnny Hodges would be proud!
Is this the Dave Taylor who's the best bass trombonist in the world?
No, sorry. This Dave is the worst tenor saxophonist in the world. :)
Her sax style reminds me of the late great Johnny Hodges
Damn!
nice saxophonist :)
Why does this girl play every instrument? She's great by the way!!!
CHAMORRO JAZZ PIETOSO CANTANO ANCHE DELLE BAMBINE !
oh my... you guys are awesome :) where can i buy your music except for itunes?
as someone points out , how melodic is her horn. thing is, listen to the maestro, when he plays, Joan Chamorro, on the bass , too, always melodic
