Hi Jen. Oh my gosh, thank you for doing this video! I used to do quilting by hand 45 years ago and had a little plastic circular cage with slits; inside was bee's wax. It was used to preserve cotton thread so that it didn't wear out before the quilt was stitched together. It's been hard for me to hand stitch for the past 25 years due to a neck injury and I never thought of coating the thread to help out. I still have the little holder and cake of bee's wax. It is coming out of the drawer and sitting right next to my needle holder. Thank you again, Antonia
Thread Magic is great and I’ve used it for years. If I recall, I purchased mine from Hancock Fabrics just before they shut their doors. I’ve had mine for years and even use it to condition my thread before threading my machines. Works wonders and is great for hand-sewing. Thanks for introducing the new container (thread cutter). Actually the product has been around a long time but the original one had the lid that is not connected and a thread cutter . Happy you found it. Works so much better on silk thread for appliqué quilting. ❤️ it

Thanks for the advice and video. Taking a “Tailoring” course so hand sewing is an integral skill needed. I just received the recommended sewing needles to use yesterday so seeing this today was on time. Just placed the order using your link…can’t wait to start making my “hand sewing practice book” so I can begin using this daily. I will post results to your Facebook page
Thank you for this. I’m going to try this. I hand sew all day, every day (or it feels that way! lol) since I hand sew historic clothing for our group of 30 people. I can use anything that helps make it easier
I do hand sewing/embroidery.. I use dryer sheets for the thread. You just run the thread through the dryer sheets between your thumb and your fingers. Squeezing the dryer sheet into the thread. It works like magic. No coiling thread. Just my sewing Tip.
No sticky.... it actually just smooths the surface of the thread and makes it more "smooth" and easier to work with. Hope that helps, thanks for watching
I haven't used beeswax on thread for a long time.... Back when I started sewing, that was the most widely available thread conditioner there was. Honestly, I can't remember how Thread Magic might be different...But I can investigate... Stay Tuned! & Thanks for watching

I have heard that using anything on embroidery floss risks leaving residue that causes discoloration over time. I assume you haven’t noticed this or you wouldn’t be recommending the dryer sheets. Thank you for the information..
@@dale3404 I have never had a problems with using Dryer Sheets. They have a wax coating infused in them. You can see some colors on the dryer sheet when you run the floss through them .. but !! It’s the colors from the floss leaving a residue… nothing else from the Dryer sheets.
