How could I not sub to this channel, at this point?! The King, and even Daniel Caesar as well as Stevie Wonder. I'm not just some rock and metal guy, this stuff's what I go to for healing. Great video.
Thank you SO MUCH for this tutorial. This is my dad’s favorite Christmas song and I really wanted to learn it for him. Your lesson was so easy to follow. You’re the goat 🐐 👑
Toast to Nat King Cole one of the GREATEST pianist & singers EVER!!! Wonderful tutorial! Thank You! HISTORY LESSON: Capital Records in the early days of it's establishment & glory was commonly known as "The House That Nat Built". 🎹🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶
Thank for this nice tutorial! Some info about the song I found: "The Christmas Song" by Bob Wells (most of the lyrics) and Mel Tormé (music and some of the lyrics) Robert Wells (born Robert Levinson, October 15, 1922 - September 23, 1998) was an American songwriter, composer, script writer and television producer. During his early career, he collaborated with singer and songwriter Mel Tormé, writing several hit songs, most notably "The Christmas Song" in 1945. But Bob Wells was not intending to write a christmas song, he even not tried to write any song, but instead was only writing some lyrics, in an effort to "stay cool by thinking cool" during a very hot summer in July 1945. This is what Mel Tormé recalled later about a blistering hot summerday in 1945, when he was visiting Bob Wells: "I saw a spiral pad on his (Wells's) piano with four lines written in pencil. They started, 'Chestnuts roasting..., Jack Frost nipping..., Yuletide carols..., Folks dressed up like Eskimos.' Bob didn't think he was writing a song lyric. He said he thought if he could immerse himself in winter he could cool off. Forty minutes later that song was written. I (Mel Tormé) wrote all the music and some of the lyrics."
The basic rule is, whenever you change the chord, reset the pedal (you probably know that) but with a jazz song having so many chord changes, just going by your ear may be the best option. You could also look at the lead sheet.
Lovely. Many thanks Karl. Lot of work for this beginner. For your future sterling pieces would it be possible for you to change the colouring in your virtual keyboard to make it a bit easier to read. Thanks
I promise im gonna learn this before the christmas of 2023.... Im currently learnings donny Hathaway a song for you, so lets see... my only wish this year is for me to get good at piano.
Merry Christmas to you Karlis and thanks for all the help that you've given me by way of your tutorials. They have been invaluable. Happy holidays brah and let me know when the EP is dropping so that I can support you.
Awesome lesson. Just found your channel. Are you able to change the color of the keys on the virtual piano when you’re playing the chords? The gray kinda blend in and was hard to see. Other than that amazing tutorial. Thank you so much.
Bro I just subbed because of all the D'Angelo stuff you put out. Mac Ayres "easy" and "slow down" might be worth checking out if you are looking for more songs.
Just started following you, but I was wondering if you had plans to do “If this world were mine” by Marvin or “If you think you’re lonely now” or “Me and mrs jones”? All of them real good and smooth
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching. Wow I love Jamiroquai!!!! Adding to the list

Such a lovely song! But... can someone help beginner like me.. these cords are quite complex, move fast and omit some notes. What would be a path to be able to play like this and follow these lind of tutorials with ease? :D
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a tutorial in the key that Karen Carpenter aka Carpenters sang it whoch I believe is Key of G. While I can transpose the key signature, I cannot get the chord voicings (hand podition & inversions) to sound the same as Nat King Cole version. I know it will not have the same harmonics in G as it does in Db but I am not a good enough player to transpose the proper hand positioning.

Great tutorial. When I first learned that Nat King Cole was a jazz pianist, I was floored. Even more amazed at how accomplished he was.

Absolutely love ❤️❤️ I'm mostly a beginner, it would be super helpful if you could also add the timings for when you use the pedal. Much love 😊
