Wondering have you ever sailed to North America?! I’m from Gloucester, MA and have been enamored by sailing my whole life. My uncle and aunt owned a sailboat they lived on throughout my childhood and would spend time on the boat with them during summers sailing around New England and East Coast. Just wondering if you have heard of Gloucester, MA. Americas Oldest Seaport? Such a beautiful natural deep water harbor! Famous French/Spanish explorer, Samuel deChamplagne called it “Le Beauport” in late 1500’s before first Europeans emigrated!
I really enjoy following both yourself Patrick and Erik, some of the best solo sailing videos out there. For some reason I don't really enjoy watching sailing videos unless they are doing it solo. Both of you have inspired me to get into sailing solo as well.
Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the remarkable RUclipsr, Erik Andreaa, whose exceptional sailing adventures have become a beacon of inspiration for countless individuals across the globe. Erik's unwavering dedication to sharing his voyages has provided a phenomenal platform for those who aspire to navigate the open seas or simply seek to experience the thrill vicariously. With an exceptional ability to capture the breathtaking beauty of nature and the invigorating spirit of sailing, Erik has fostered a sense of wonder and adventure in his audience. His genuine passion, informative content, and captivating storytelling have not only enriched our lives but also sparked a newfound appreciation for the art of sailing. Thank you, Erik, for fearlessly charting new waters and inviting us to embark on these extraordinary journeys with you.
@Patrícia Martins Ferreira I agree with the sentiment too! I love Erik's videos and find them very inspirational. My comment was regarding the way the original comment was written. It comes across as something that may have been written by a 'bot'. That is, chatgpt. It's increasingly common nowadays.
Take care of yourself Eric. Health before wealth. Most of my sailing gear is from your shop. Keep up the excellent work as and when you can. My favourite RUclips channel. Thank you for your commitment.
@@fernandojuliopaniagua873 Hi mate, Castellano is called Spanish outside of Spain, anyway I strongly suggest if you love sailing to do an effort and learn English, it is the navigation language both in air and seas, and indeed the facto the lingua franca now a days, that allows us to know about Eric adventures and to him to communicate to us, etc. Can you imagine he did the videos in Norwegian? Take care buddy!
To everyone who has thought their dreams were impossible to attain, Eric shows us where there is a will, there is always a way. Despite being handed physical as well as mental challenges, Eric bites the bit and sails onward. Relying on his own instincts, intuition, and his vast experience sailing the stormy waters of the North Sea, Eric’s goals and challenges cause a healthy person to quake in their boots. He is one RUclipsr I wholeheartedly support without any qualms. May fair to strong winds carry you to happiness, and good health Eric. Namaste
You’re the craziest I have watched! Watching sailors like Project Atticus, Distant Shores and others is nice but watching your passages is pure adrenaline! Thanks, crazy viking! Stay safe, and good to know you recovered from that thing. I saw your pic in some hospital somewhere on Instagram. God bless you!
If, as you claim, you have contracted Crown's disease, I am surprised that the doctors did not advise you to change your diet... The will can do a lot, but if the body lets go, then the will can do nothing!... Thanks again for the great pictures!!
Thank you Erik, I’ve followed every episode and you’ve inspired me to purchase an old sailboat and I’ve just completed 5000 nautical.., I can’t thank you enough for adding years to my life… 78 and sill kicking! Thanks again Liam
The faith in you is astounding...that a boat of that size propels you by wind and or engine in waters that are beyond challenging, speaks of not only desire, but of life acceptance, no matter what it offers or can bring.....the path we use differs in all of us. You, a sailboat and the elements are at best one with each other...Be well in yourself, your health must come first. These voyages are dreams for millions of people who may never embark on one of them...This is the gift you deliver...
Don't worry about not uploading regularly. Health is always first. And all of us prefer to see a happy and healthy Eric that doesn't feel pressured to upload a video every 2 weeks. Thanks for all the fantastic content - it always puts a smile on my face.
As an old Sub Sailor it was very cool to see her on the surface. I am sure they where watching you sail as well. Great stuff as always. Fair winds and following Seas Erik
Your videos are getting better and better, and they were excellent to begin with. It's also great to see a Channel that consistently focuses so much on actually being out there on the water. My own personal downside of watching your Channel is one of regret. Some years ago, I turned down an opportunity to sail from Norway to the US via Greenland in a 40-footer. You have made me realize my mistake.
Continue to be amazed at your sailing skill and video production talent. This series has some of the most exciting sailing sequences anywhere on YT. And your camerawork, editing and music selection is superb. It could deserve a "Best of Greenland '22" edit as exclusive content.
I enjoy watching your videos from the North Sea and North Atlantic. I took up sailing 2 and a half years ago when I was 67, sailing high-performance dinghies on local lakes. I want to buy a small cruiser and do some coastal sailing before I get too old to do it. I'm now 70. Still in good health.
All respects, brother Erik, from us! We've been watching your saling from Norway to Scotland, St Kilda and back to Norway. To face the North Seas, by yoursek in Tessie, rakes a certain courage , strength and fortitude!
I am shocked by what I saw! There are no words... There's no point in talking! This is amazing! Traveling and loving the ocean is bigger than the ocean!

As usual Erik thank you so much, I was a bit worried watching it but your enthusiasm and smiles and love of your life on the waves was amazing. I loved the fact that you felt at “ Home “ in the Shetland isles “. I am so Looking forward to the next video. You are a true Viking x
Erik. Its great to see you onboard again. Tessie looks so beautiful running like a greyhound. You make it look so easy Look after yourself. Cheers Frank. Australia.
Erik, You always make me nervous walking the rails to the bow, hanging on shrouds and lifelines, not wearing a harness or clipped to jack lines. Am I missing something invisible? Maybe you have a death wish? Please don't fall overboard mate! You're a helluva sailor! Fair winds & safe travels!
I like all the content you produce Erik. Very inspiring. Every time there is something new I must see it! Looks like Ashley likes you and vice versa!!!! I love the way you strive for quality...your boat handling and rigging, and the videos..everything is quality. Keep healthy....
Erik, you are a legend and so brave doing that by yourself with such underlying health issues. Always love watching your videos, they are so inspirational and capture the raw power and unpredictability of the seas.
All the superlatives for what you doing are well deserved. You give me strength to keep sailing. I learn from your skills and adore your approach to the life. Thanks and stay safe, Alex
Awesome as always :) I sailed as the mate on a square-rigged sailing ship around Muckle Flugger into Uunst and onto Lerwick in 1999 for a tall ships event. Been back since for a wedding. Love the Shetland Islands! Looking forward to your next upload.
Dear Erik, fantastic! The light and colors you captured were the best yet. Could taste that food and coffee, was so good! Love Sony Vegas! my best, Jasmine xx
i just took my first sailing lesson yesterday, very much because of you. thank you brother, i continue to support your incredible adventures. thank you so much. take care of yourself.
Erik, I enjoy watching your channel with my husband. If I was out on the sea in a storm..... I would want you as my captain! Please take care of yourself and get your crohn's under control. That can be very painful.
Hi Erik, I have been watching all of your videos. I wanted to say that in my opinion these are amongst the best of all the sailing channel vides and I watch a lot. Your spirit of adventure is inspiring, and it’s great to watch some proper sailing! Thanks so much for making these 🙏 and good luck with your adventures, Chris
Plenty of action and humour as per normal. But this is only normal for Erik and not the average passage maker . Thank you for the entertainment, brilliant.
Erik, that was one wild ride, for sure! Thirty knot winds on the nose! No fun, no bullshit! Just sailing! Hey, I'm wondering if your mainsail has a 3rd reef point? That would have made that heavy weather sailing a little more manageable, with less heeling and just about the sAtame boat speed. Good catch on the staysail halyard. In heavy air, you certainly want those halyards, and the luff of the sail, as tight as possible. I always remember that a sail is basically a vertical airplane wing, and when planes are up to speed, they reduce the flaps to zero to make the wing as flat as possible. That said though, sometimes in heavy weather, I move my mainsail traveler up past center and put in a little topping lift so that there's a curve at the top of the sail, which allows the sail to dump a little bit of wind up high. Helps reduce heel and gives the boat a bit more margin for error in the higher puffs of wind. Nice that your friend met you at the dock with some beverages! You certainly earned it on this leg of your voyage. This video was one of your best edited one's I've seen so far. I follow and support your channel in part because of the high video production value. I do some editing myself and people are surprised that it takes about an hour of editing for every 5 minutes of video. It's a real labor of love and it's obvious you love what you're doing! Hey, I thought you might include some video of your cod dinner! Was looking forward to seeing if Norwegians prepare it the same way as we Alaskans! I'm going out for the first time this weekend, about 40 miles from here. Will stay for two days. Forecast is cloudy, 50f, and some rain now and then, but this is a temperate rain forest so I'm used to getting a little wet. BTW, we get tides as high as 8 meters at times, so we're always dealing with currents while coming and going into bays and inlets. Not unusual to have wind against tide or a lot of water coming out of an inlet in shallow water. At *4:05* in a video I did from two years ago to Tracy Arm, a 20 mile fjord here with a large glacier, you can see the current pushing a navigational buoy nearly over on its side! This is one of my better videos. I just retired 2 years ago so I plan to have more time to create content, but this trip was spectacular so I made the time to create this 22 minute long video: ruclips.net/video/Luus6pXphl8/видео.html
Wow, first time I've seen your channel and I am in awe of the quality of your filming and your courage and skill as a sailor, also you are a very lovable soul. Thank you.
As always the best sailing footage of a solo sailor. Thank you so much for all the time and effort.I wish you well with your heath and please continue sailing.
Eric another great and challenging crossing. So much effort goes into your productions. I’ve been doing some myself and it takes weeks to just get 15mins of worthwhile post production footage. You are the benchmark for me in both your sailing and video production. Thx Fraser
Looks like great fun. I hear people say things like, "gentlemen do not sail against the wind" or how much they dislike pointing, but to me there's nothing more exhilarating than pointing close-hauled into a fresh breeze, sheeting in and _making knots._ Most sailboats made after about 1972 or so (the fin keel/spade rudder era) are optimized for close reaching due to racing class regulations, so it's often a boat's best point of sail. The hours seem to fly by in a glittering cloud of spray and fresh air. I _can_ understand not wanting to have to tack constantly, that's when it starts getting to be more like work than fun, but to me running downwind is even worse: the boat tends to roll a lot, the motion slows down and gets queasy and you're always having to worry about jibing and damaging your rig. Some boats are able to "surf" downwind and that must be exciting, but it also requires lots of canvas to be up and lots of crew, too, doubtless, to watch the and trim the rig and steer with furious concentration. Then there's also the specter of the death-roll, knockdown and broach on a lot of fin keel/spade rudder IOR-era boats when running under a spinnaker. Probably not sustainable for very long to a solo sailor. Another great video. Thanks.
Hey Erik ! Nice to see you putting out more material at a faster pace. I think this will be the key to taking your channel to the top. You material and production is already world class. I worry about your health and pray that you are feeling better. You have strong Viking blood so I know you will overcome whatever stands in your way! I have finally gotten my 40 year old , full keel Beneteau Evasion 32 back into the water after a year and a half on the hard and many hours of hard work . I will sail to Norway soon and look you up!! Beers and food on me!! SKAL!
Thanks Erik, Love your content, you do the best of all sailing channels I have watched with your camera angles, sailing environments and commentary. I hope you can get on top of your health issues so you can keep up your passion for sailing. Thanks ☺

As usual Erik thank you so much, I was a bit worried watching it but your enthusiasm and smiles and love of your life on the waves was amazing. I loved the fact that you felt at “ Home “ in the Shetland isles “. I am so Looking forward to the next video. You are a true Viking x
Takk Erik ! Inspiring trip you had from Feroe ! Beautiful wind and waves. Take care and get better !
Erik, I love what you do. Thank you for taking me with you!
Dont worry about not uploading so frequently, its always a pleasure to watch your adventures when a new video is out! :)
Erik, the cam at the bow is amazing! Feeling like sitting right there. Thank you for this beautiful escape from onshore life ⛵️😊
Thank you again oh kind Sir for taking us along with you here in Canada 🇨🇦…
Andrew
Erik. Its great to see you onboard again. Tessie looks so beautiful running like a greyhound. You make it look so easy
Look after yourself.
Awesome as always :)
I sailed as the mate on a square-rigged sailing ship around Muckle Flugger into Uunst and onto Lerwick in 1999 for a tall ships event. Been back since for a wedding. Love the Shetland Islands!
Looking forward to your next upload.
Beautiful sailing video Eric. Your boat sure seems to enjoy the strong conditions. It just takes you along for company! Take care.
So nice to know Bill, wish you all the best of luck!!
Thank you so much Chris!
Thanks Wade! Looking forward seeing your video!
Also got Crohn's disease too. Started doing a cold plunge every day for 5 minutes. Totally cured me. Good video.
Sailing with a real Viking. It doesn't get better than this!
Wow, first time I've seen your channel and I am in awe of the quality of your filming and your courage and skill as a sailor, also you are a very lovable soul.
Thank you.
Absolutely the best sailing videos on the internet. I really enjoyed this one. I hope you get feeling better soon. Thanks for sharing what you do.
Great video Erik, some exceptional video footage during the crossing, really enjoyed it mate. Fair winds too you.
This whole series was so exciting to watch. Hope you feel better soon, take good care of yourself. The journey is the destination.
Wonderful exciting sailing. Great filming. A big thank you, Erik.
As always the best sailing footage of a solo sailor. Thank you so much for all the time and effort.I wish you well with your heath and please continue sailing.
I built a small sailing canoe because of your videos 🏆 thanks for sharing your BADASS marine adventures
Best sailing channel bar none, thanks
I love seeing Lerwick, it's a great town with a lot of history.
Hi Erik, you certainly have the right boat to cope with these less than ideal conditions. Safe sailing.. Capt John.
Congratulations Erik, on your arrival, the best energy for your health to recover soon, and good winds from Argentina!
Another great video. Keep going!
Thanks ☺
Never mind waiting Erik for your next video because I know it is worth the wait. Take care you mad mad Viking!
Allthough im finding Erik very heroic i am happy to watch this from my lazy chair ;)
You're amazing, Erik. Your video quality illustrating the arduous tasks that you perform is exemplary. This is my mode of sailing at 74. I wanted to cruise the world in the seventies, but not having the nav gear that's available today, I was WAY too intimidated. Thanks for taking us along sailing with you. You're amazing. ;-)
Thanks! I really have enjoyed your videos and your trips. I have a few friends who have experienced Crohns. I'm sorry, thats a tough thing to handle on its own! Take care of yourself.
Thank you!🙏
Gruney Rocks is no joke, it took me by surprise in slack water outbound in the yell sound once. Between the rocks was crazy with waves
Great journey, amazing edit, look after yourself, and listen to the doctors!
Your videos are awesome! I love being on this adventure with you. Thanks for taking us along. ❤ I hope your health will improve with time. Stay safe! 🙏
¡Gracias!
It might sound crazy but I enjoy watching your video's especially when you're going through rough sea's. You really capture the essence of what mother nature can throw at you and the way you challenge yourself. I will be watching this video over and over until you next video. Also it was great to see you got footage of the US NAVY sub. Being a Navy sailor myself. Go US Navy!!
Brilliant Erik, you never cease to amaze me
Morning Eric great to see you back and fab content and footage, video quality is stunning. Feel better and stay safe..
