    Ducati Spacers fixes the mechanical throttle slop in the electric throttle tubes Ducati uses that Chase experienced around @7:29. They have to manufacture it in there, and it’s horrible feeling on some of their bikes. Easy mod, easy install, huge improvement.

    Dayummmm. I'm also not personally a fan of blue on bikes but I would still rock that bike. You're absolutely right, this is one of those bikes that you really wouldn't have to do anything to it. It's pretty much perfect from the factory in terms of looks. It's like the XSR700 from Yamaha with all the aftermarket stuff that you wanna do it, but Ducati does it for you and charges you a bit more for it. And you lose a tad bit of reliability for the aircooled Ducati goodness. It's a tough choice between the two

    Couple of things. First, it's not a bike for tootling along traffic heavy straight, town roads or highways. It's for twisty, country B roads, and secondly I can assure you that when you ride it properly, there is very good and very useful engine braking in virtually *every* gear, so much so that I find my country road trips roughly 50 - 50 engine braking/brakes for corners.

    I think it’s a great bike - I bought the icon and am using accessories to take it in the cafe direction as I will add Carbon, shock, fork kit, wheels etc. buying a low mile second hand bike gives you a budget to start with, and because I will upgrade so much, I don’t need to start with the expensive model.

    Think that throttle slack is built in to stop newer riders accidentally popping 1st gear wheelies, I think a spacer kit is available for the throttle to tighten up initial response

    • @RoadUser_Motovlog
      @RoadUser_Motovlog 4 года назад +1

      AW HELL NAH..throttle slack is dangerous AF, you go to twist it and instead of a smooth and predictable power delivery you get a twitchy response, also you can never take off your hand from the handlebar because you'll need to find the point where the gas opens every time you do that.
      The only slack you need is to prevent the bike to accelerate in a full steer lock, you just need a couple of millimeters of play (and this also applies to the clutch cable).

    Try the nightshift next man it has straight low lean forward handlebars not raised like the icon, nor clipons like this one. The Nightshift will blow you away man! I HATE the clipons on my cafe racer they reduce turning angle and cause tank slappers. Prefer nightshift or icon style handlebars. Much more control on the windy turns, and less danger of the death wobble (Ducati scramblers do that if you hit the throttle too fast). I own one of each so i have experience to opinionate a bit

      Different position, the Monster is more upright. Spoked wheels instead of cast aluminum on the 797. Monster is a bit lighter. Honestly if you're looking for a cafe racer, buy the Scrambler Cafe. But if you're looking for an air cooled Monster... don't buy the 797. It's a parts bin bike. Buy the Monster 796 from a few years ago. More horsepower, lighter, better brakes, single sided swingarm, under-seat exhaust, etc.

    Brakes on a new bike always feel weak until bedded properly.

  • @SinuousGrace
    @SinuousGrace 4 года назад +2

    Aesthetically: don't like the single side exhaust, the number plate, the blue seat, the spoke wheels, the tiny front fender, the rear fender thingie, the blue seat, and the offset instrument pod.
    Performance-wise, it sounds great. Brakes I've found can be highly variable from bike to bike even of the same model. Let's assume you could bed them in properly, bleed the lines, or if necessary replace pad material and change the lines to stainless steel. And the throttle free play is fairly easy to fix.
    Like the sound and the riding position.
    Practically, though, an air-cooled engine in Texas in the summer in traffic is a pretty bad idea.
    --------------------------
    As far as clip-ons vs. handlebar... I sat on a used Z1000 (2016 I think) yesterday with a Pro Taper bar that was lower than the clip-ons on the Ninja 650. I do prefer a more aggressive pitch, just not Ducati superbike-level committed. Something like the VFR, or the 2005-2008 ZZR600.

A luimoto seat cover in black, tail tidy, and slip on does the trick. I swapped the headers and went full akro with a titanium slip on to match. The blue that burns in on the pipes look sexy with the blue frame. Also sounds beefy haha
