This ejection is proof that his judgement is actually useless. He is clearly letting his biases get in the way of making a correct decision. He wanted to eject Boone and not because of anything Boone actually did.
Maybe if he’s that useless at his job, he should get yelled at every second of every day until he quits.

It was Boone that came out of the locker room with a chip on his shoulder. Jeez, the ump, like many fans in the stands, was probably thinking, "Can we just play the game?" Nope. 5 pitches in Boone acts a fool. Boone f'd around and found out.

NBA refs are actually pretty witty. One time, a team doctor was carping at a particular ref. During a TV timeout, the ref came over and said, "Doc, at least when I make a mistake, it doesn't end up with someone six feet under." The doc was silent as a mouse for the rest of the game.
I know Boone has a reputation, but this guy is literally just looking for reasons. Boone criticized him with one sentence for the first time in the game and if he says anything else he's gone? Obviously the ejection doesn't need an expanation.
should have got tossed for crying about the check swing. instead the ump gave him leeway, and now he's getting clowned on because of the one in a million chance that it was some douche behind the dugout instead of the players or coach.
This is exactly what baseball really needs is have the umpires in the managers miked up during the game it would add so much just like car racing when you can listen to the pits and the driver
This is a disgrace. Umpire union needs to go. It’s bad enough that you called that a strike, then you eject someone for saying, ”let’s go, homeplate.” Even if Boone did say that, it’s not ejection worthy. If you can’t recognize a managers voice from a fans voice, and are that easily offended, you have no business being a major league umpire let alone run an umpire school. Wendelstedt should be fined and suspended for this, but probably won’t because of union. If I or any other umpire pulled this stunt back in the 80s, we’d be physically attacked by manager and most likely fired since we didn’t have unions. Hudson also needs to be disciplined for joining in, defending Wendlestedt’s foolishness, for double teaming Boone, and for putting hands on Boone. I get that Boone has been annoying in past but he is definitely in the right here. If you hear the audio, Wendlestedt admits that it probably wasn’t Boone but he doesn’t care. Totally unprofessional considering that what was said wasn’t ejection worthy anyway. If the union doesn’t go then ejections need to be reviewable and reversible. There are plenty of microphones around to make that possible. If they can’t be reversed during game, then the fines and suspensions for the ejection should be transferred and imposed on the umpires. Neither will probably happen, but until umpires are again humbled and held accountable like we were in the past, we will continue to see ridiculous stuff like this.

the fan didn't do anything wrong. All he said was "let's go homeplate," nothing close to warranting a fan ejection.

The officiating this year has been horrendous. The other night, I watched Lorenzen throw 3 tremendous pitches in a row....two were strikes, one was off the plate by an inch or two...and somehow the count was 3-0. Hard to watch this stuff anymore...and you can just feel the brewing frustrations of the players and managers.

It's time that umpires need to start being held accountable whenever they f... up -- even if it's an honest mistake. I still refuse to forgive Jim Joyce for taking away a perfect game from Armando Galarraga. Joyce should've been suspended.
To be fair the umpire didn’t see whatever was said to him that caused him to throw out the manager. He thought it might have been Aaron Boone.

Boone clearly didn't say anything. It was that fan behind him to his left. Boone told Hunter he didn't say anything. It was a fan who said it. And Hunter says I don't care, you're gone. That's total bs right there. Even though I'm a Mariners fan, I feel bad for Boone. He doesn't deserve that. I've seen umpires thrown out fans before though. I remember an umpire in a minor league game threw out the person who plays an organ playing "Three Blind Mice" to an umpire.

Manfred, I will pay literally any amount of money if you offered baseball games without commentators but with all the available mics so we can hear the umpires, players, and managers. This isn't a knock at the commentary here, by the way, its just an idea.
