Its a very interesting way to look at the whole situation in that both sides were pretty savage for different reasons. @@youknowwhoyouare2269 is that a nice compliment?
Same. I love Pocahontas! Even though its far from a perfect movie
Same. I know it is far from beeing historically accurate. Don't know if anything except Pocahontas beeing a native American is true in the movie. But I just love it. It does not have to be true to be a good movie.
Also, I declare blasphemy on Brother Bear (can teach Pixar about a thing or two about emotionally wrenching characters), Bolt (fun) and Meet the Robinsons (one of the best twist endings in animation)
Pocahontas was a great movie about a strong woman having the courage to go up against her father and protect someone she loved to stop a war.
If you listen to the song paint with all the colors of the wind you hear a wise woman who uses compassion and love to get someone who never questioned their actions or beliefs to change their mind.
The music and movie are amazing, and make pocahontas one of my favorite Disney movies.
Agreed - it’s a classic. I realize it isn’t historically accurate, but most people who complain about it haven’t even seen the movie - typical herd mentality.
@@rb4128 I saw the movie when I was a kid and loved it but after learning more about what actually happened I recognize how insulting it is to have used the life of a real girl who was exploited terribly by colonizers to tell a watered-down story that downplayed how awful and violent colonization was for the indigenous peoples so they can tell a false story of *checks notes* 'a strong woman having the courage to go up against her father and protect someone she loved to stop a war.'
Not gonna lie the Jasmine costume was a thirst trap , that was the first time I was like “girls make me feel weird”
Four year old me was perplexed why I didn't see women in clam shell tops, or why I didn't see more belly buttons in real life, after seeing The Little Mermaid. The fish tail thing, I felt made sense if a person lived in the water all the time.
Red is definitely Jasmine's color. It matches her fiery and passionate persona.
For me it was Spider-man (2002). Muscles + spandex = one 10-year-old girl's "spring awakening."

Hearing him calling Tarzan "Garbage" is probably the most surreal thing i heard today.
The boxoffice and Rotten Tomatoes would disagree with that.
If he said Tarzan & Jane, yea. That threw me off.
@@writerpatrick pretty the box office says Treasure Planet isn't good and that avengers end game is so I'm not listening to anything the box office says. But that's just me 😅

OMG that song... OMG i need that played somewhere in my life for a special occasion... Ugh, love it.
You got me with the "Exactly what TLC warned us not to do" line.
It is kind of funny that they were hoping that this would be the best picture winner and considered the best animated movie ever, but instead The Lion King would be considered one of the best animated movies ever.
In this movie’s defense, the animation still looks lovely even today, and the music and songs are still amazing.
Pocahontas and Lion King are both amazing visual movies and were excellent movies to watch in the mid/late-1990s.
Maybe this movie would've done better if they'd had Timon & Pumba in it. Those 2 are like Statler & Waldorf (from the muppets)!😆
Colors of the wind Is by far the best song of Disney movies. Too underrated.
In memory of Jason David Frank, say "No, not this time. This time it's different. I'm at the end of the ropes, guys. Lord Zedd's had it in for me since the beginning... and he's closing in..."
Tarzan is great!
One of my favorite 2D animated movies of all time.
That movie is adorable and the songs always feels comforting. I think this movie speaks to a lot of kids out there that felt isolated for being different and give them hope that it is still possible to make strong lasting connections with others in spite of it.
I like this movie. It's not the most amazing thing to come out of Disney, but it's still enjoyable.
My two favorite songs from it are "Colors of the Wind" and "Savages".
Well, it didn’t take long for them to let us know what they think of it 😂
Facts. Realistically speaking, this movie is HORRIBLE 🤣🤣💯
If U R 1 of the MANY people who hate this film, U have not right 2 call yourself an animation or Disney fan.
And I wholeheartedly agree with them!
@@mori1bund good for you then

True.
Agreed. It's there with "I'll make a man out of you" from Mulan.
Agreed! 💯
I also love savages, 😅 I know I know
honestly, I prefer Savages out of pocahontas.
Give us that song by itself, please!!! Also, thank you for creating a movie plot I'd love to see. Grind them bones!
It feels both wrong and spot on to say that this Honest Trailer was savage.
I actually really like "Savages", it's the best song in the movie. The visuals are great and the lyrics are really catchy.
It is a great song. It would also have a great message... if it weren't being applied to the actual genocide of Native Americans.
I sing it referring to my children 🤭😂
I like that song too. Plus, "sandwiches" subs out easily for "savages" while you're making lunch...((ahem)).
Then you'll love that Zog machine song Seth sings in American History X
It's a shame it takes a "both sides are at fault" view on,,,, colonialism and genocide (it IS catchy, And I'm sure there are really good native parodies of it out there if you want a different version to hum lol)
The one good thing I remember about this move is how beautifully her hair was animated. That's it.
You don't remember the very _distinctive facial_ features that they gave her (examples = sky high cheek bones)? I mean, look at the _thumbnail!_
Meet the Robinsons was amazing!
"They all hated me,"
Please say “We’re going back in time to the first Thanksgiving to get turkeys off the menu!”
There's a movie called "Thankskilling".😃
I need a full version of the colors of the wind remix 🤣🤣🤣

Edit: I guess "Love at First White" works too.
Yeah, an almost B-Movie vampire comedy from the late 70s starring George Hamilton, is more cerebral.
IMO 😉
Colors of the Wind omg what a song
I was introduced to the song back when I was in 5th grade. I got a casette tape from Disney of all their hit songs that I used to continuously play and this song was my absolute favorite.
Who sang the funny version in this one ? I want to hear a full song like that !!! Please release it !!!
It was sung by Emma Fyffe.
Okay, Honest Trailers, I'm going to call you out on this one. Haha! The Frozen Honest Trailer notes 18 years since the last good Disney musical - Pocahontas~!! Great job on the trailers, but you guys are so good I had to mention this. Thank you for all the hard work!

I love Pocahontas, but this was funny. Also, the end song If I Never Knew You by John Secada and Shanice is amazing.
Still my fave duet in a Disney movie.

Can't believe Pocahontas got an honest trailer before The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
“Mine, mine, mine” is an absolute bop and you cannot tell me otherwise.
Some Disney best songs ever made for movie come from Pocahontas. Colour of wind and Savages is master class Disney musical work
I’m Native American and that song is offensive. It’s like calling black people the nword.
Just Around the Riverbend is my vote for the most beautiful singing in any Disney work.
@@brookew.h.n5568 The term "colonizer" is offensive to me.
@@brookew.h.n5568 Yeah sure buddy, its "offensive", what you meant to say was the most accurate part of the movie in that the colonizers would belittle other people with names. And in the same song the locals also called the English savage for being so quick to go to war. Its a very interesting way to look at the whole situation in that both sides were pretty savage for different reasons. English being savage for being basically cavemen at diplomacy and the locals for being savage in terms of pride, they couldn't let go of traditions, ran into battle thinking they had a chance and made it seem like they didn't have any intention of being reasonable.
@@yammoto148 You think they were savage for wanting to preserve their culture, not wanting to be colonized or get their land taken, and because they didn't want to become friends, compromise, or understand people who were massacring them? Wow, are you dumb?
And there were native civilizations that actually beat the Europeans in combat. The Aztecs for example. What got them was the diseases carried by the Spaniards.
I still always wanted to see where in east Virginia you would find cliffs like that. I was born 20 miles from where this took place, and I've lived my whole life in Virginia. I remember when the movie came out, thinking, where in the world are these huge waterfalls and cliffs on the peninsula? Have mercy Disney. 😂😂😂😂😂
