A Walmart closed near my college back around 2017. They were selling sealed Sega Saturn and Dreamcast games on heavy discount, to put in perspective how deep their liquidation went. Like did they just keep this stuff in a deep backroom, forgot about it for decades, and then went "oh shoot, we forgot to sell these" when making sure "everything goes" during the sale? Imagine walking into a Walmart in 2017 and seeing something like a sealed copy of Seaman on Dreamcast sitting on the shelf next to a sealed Nights into Dreams on Saturn. Both for $15 each. It was nuts.
My 'neighborhood' Walmart is on the same street and within a mile of the local Target. The Walmart is within a fancier section, too. Near an Ulta and a Starbucks and all that. lol
First time ever seen a Walmart turn into a Target, that just never happens. Mainly because poor people don't just suddenly get wealthy in that area. Something feels off in what you said.
Lol I knew that Walmart. Never liked it and preferred the one on the other side of town. Still, you can't say that area had inner city problems. While the area is more "urban" than other parts of Norwalk, it's a block from nice suburban streets and like what? A mile from Darien? Which is a very rich town. Literally right off 95, so accessible for all surrounding towns. Close by they built a huge LUXURY mall because the area truly is gentrifying (not that it was ever so "rough" to begin with, but I've seen the changes over the past 20 years). I only disliked this particular Walmart because the lighting in the store always felt kinda dark? It was a pretty OK walmart😂 and there are lots of great box stores on that end of town. It's always weird to see Connecticut in videos online because like.... No one cares, even us who live here (and if people do, it's p cringe)
A store near my house closed, and i watched as everything went from 50% off, to 50% off AND 2 for 1. They basically just gave away the last couple things they couldnt sell
I prefer Walmart to Target... Fun challenge buy several items from Walmart n buy the same in target Which one u think it's cheaper? n have u saving money?
I never shop at Walmart, the chances of encountering crazy people skyrocket once you enter the store. Don’t know what it is but Walmart customers are a different breed of people.
Well we had one that closed down and turned in to storage.. It didn't help that it's also located in the hood. They claimed to have never made a profit in the 20 years in business and I believe it. The good news is the new owners will make money by leasing space to probably fokes who stole from them!
I used to work at Walmart I hope they all close down the way they treat there associates it is insanely depressing, they work you to your bone and it doesn't pay the cheapest apartment in my area
To be fair to the previous comments, must if the time I've seen a Walmart close is because crime in general and theft specifically got too bad for even them to deal with. Seen probably a dozen in California have that problem when i used to drive through. It's not always the case, but it happens often enough to be a reasonable guess
Thing is, this Target is taking a while to be up and running. With this Walmart closed, it’ll make shoppers from Darien to Greenwich drive a lot more just to get to the other.
I don’t see this going well for the target in the long run. It might be a busy start, but it’ll dwindle soon. Researchers studied how people are spending their money and found that people are spending their target money at Walmart. That’s why Walmart has been stepping up their game a lot recently. Have you noticed how clothes are a lot cuter within the last year or so, even the years leading up to it Walmart has been trying to level up.
That Walmart is right down the street from my house. I drive past there all the time and the parking lot is very empty now I was away when they close so all the videos you filmed when they were closing I was away for when I got back. I’m like what happened to the Walmart and then it took me a second. I’m like oh yeah, they went out of business I cannot believe there was a target going there when I found that out I know exactly where that is. It’s on route one in Norwalk. Ct

Stores have to pay their way. If they’re unprofitable, they close. Simple as that.
That’s a dumb reason for it to close. They’re both essentially the same store. With some differences, but overall the same thing.
It really closed because people didn't buy enough Garth Brooks records.
Good choice of picking the LIVE A LIVE remastered. I do personally suggest playing it with JP dub
A store near my house closed, and i watched as everything went from 50% off, to 50% off AND 2 for 1. They basically just gave away the last couple things they couldnt sell
I prefer Walmart to Target...
Fun challenge buy several items from Walmart n buy the same in target
Which one u think it's cheaper? n have u saving money?
I never shop at Walmart, the chances of encountering crazy people skyrocket once you enter the store. Don’t know what it is but Walmart customers are a different breed of people.
But can you return the 75% percent off games and buy them after they are 90 percent off for that price adjustment tho
Should’ve taken the wood flooring for your house lol
I remember when a Hastings closed in my town and I was able to get a whole book series for the price of one book. It is now a Hobby Lobby.
Walmart is trashy. I would know I work in one. I want an upgrade to a better job ASAP.
So same thing with less of a selection of goods and jacked up prices, nice.
That’s what happens when an area gets wealthier.
To be fair to the previous comments, must if the time I've seen a Walmart close is because crime in general and theft specifically got too bad for even them to deal with. Seen probably a dozen in California have that problem when i used to drive through. It's not always the case, but it happens often enough to be a reasonable guess
Damn, I forgot target even existed😂😂😂 I thought they close down in the 90s.😂😂😂
Thing is, this Target is taking a while to be up and running. With this Walmart closed, it’ll make shoppers from Darien to Greenwich drive a lot more just to get to the other.
You know your town is becoming bougie when your walmart becomes a target
There was a Walmart near where I work, it closed due to so much theft. It's going to be a computer warehouse.
Wait so if your neighborhood has a Walmart you're in poverty but if you have a Target your middle class? 🧐
Referring to Norwalk CT as "up and coming" when it is between Darien and Westport CT is insane to me, like it is a ritsy area
Ct
They didn’t pay their employees so they got rich and famous and didn’t need to stay open.
No, actually there were not enough city people, that's why it closed.
City, country, sewer...
I saw Norwalk and I gotta ask specifics. Was this the one on Imperial and Pioneer or was this a different Norwalk all together or…?
Wish i had a walmart near me. Stupid nyc rules protect against big chains coming in and we gotta pay more for the small business to survive.
It's definitely a sign of income and other demographics shifting in the area.
