Hey sajam idk if youll see this but this deadass stopped me from getting my ass beat by my friends like 6 years ago and honestly got me into the FGC keep doing what ur doing, my GOAT
Thanks for the info bro!!! This link helped me out A LOT with my gaming. I understood how to punish but never got the concept of the frame data. Good stuff bruh and hope to see more videos explain even the advanced info that we need to know to improve even more!!
Dude thank you so much. I mean I kind of understood how to punish slow moves with faster ones. But understanding all of the data is going to help A LOT.
This explained so much, especially (or mainly) because I'm new to giving a shit in this game. Usually I get back from the bars and play with my friends but I'm trying to learn this more in depth so this was great. Thanks!
I'm so glad they bothered to include frame data right in the game, unlike some others *cough* Street Fighter *cough*. Nice tutorial! I like how you showed the range issues and whatnot.
oh ma goodness! you sir are amazing! thank you for making such great content and breaking things down in a very well articulated and informative manner :) legend bro!
THAT'S WHAT RECORD MEANS!?!?!?!? LOL I DIDN'T KNOW THAATTT!!! Jesus christ man... you'd think the game itself would explain these things..... This is the best video I've seen on this game on youtube so far!
Two things I am curious about. What does it mean when a move has a positive block advantage and it is used on a blocking character? Is it how many frames the other character is stuck blocking during that time? So if move A has +14 block advantage, the opponent blocks high, can I then pull off a low attack with 14 or lower start up to sneak past their defenses? Are they stunned for 14 frames in which I can attack with a move with a start up of 14 or lower (I do not know how many frames crouching is, so please excuse this if it is impossible)? Can you only cancel into moves with that have a lower start up than the cancel rating? For example, a move has a cancel 20; could the character link that into a move with a frame rate of 22? Or does the cancel rating only matter for the amount of frames you have to use another move? Thanks and great videos!
I'm not too sure of the reason, but I caught word that the frame-data in the One and PC versions are off, while the PS4 is correct. I actually verified this by checking after this video, and for example, Cassie Cage's 1 is actually 7 frame start up, not 6. It's incorrect on One and PC, very similar to how Injustice had incorrect frame data for a while. Be very cautious when learning on those two systems.
This channel has helped so much for someone who hasn't played a fighter since MK2 when I was a kid. Is there any other you tubers that I should be watching?
Hey man, love your videos. Got a quick question for you though: How come the start-up on some moves is shorter than the start-up for the string? eg. Kano's B3 has a start-up of 14 whereas his string that starts with B3 has a start-up of 24. Thanks and keep up the good work!
It's because the frame data it's giving is for the last move of the string. Block adv. and hit advantage are more relevant for the last move and it would be weird to give frame data for different moves for startup etc. so they just gave all the data for the last move.
You don't--not til you use it in training mode. Typically tho, the directional attacks (i.e. Back 1,2) have more range than the neutral attacks (3,4). This video is one such example, but you can recreate it with everyone else on the roster. Hope that helps
hey can somebody help me picking a character to use as my main. there are so many cool options and honestly i dont have a playstyle. i like each of the things that characters can offer, like pressure from erron black, zoning from ermac, or or range of takeda. so who did you guys play and why, whats your style. back in mk9 i used defensive sub. i really dont matter what the character style is because i can adjust to the character, just looking for someone fun and i can have fun with.
Jason Thomas That's something imo that you have to figure out for yourself. I could tell you this or that character is great. However I don't know what fighters you play or have played. This would help in selecting your character. Think of the past fighting games you have played, a character or character's you have been successful with in said games and you will at the very least shorten the list of characters you want or can play in MKX. I found MKX to have a rough jumping off point and I play quite a few fighting games as well. It was hard to find a character I knew I wanted to play! I am still playing around and discovering stuff with Raiden( multiple variations), Scorpion(multiple variations), and Kung Jin (Bojutsu). However with these 2 or 3 characters I will learn everything I can. Variation's are an issue too. NRS games are very match-up heavy so it's good to learn lots of characters. Sorry for the long response good luck finding your character.
Question why are start up frames different even when they have the same move. For example, Kano Cybernetic: Why does "Burner" start up faster than "Big Boom" when they both start off with Forward 3?
i have a question please some combos starts with the same 1 or 2 and has a different start up frame like in sonya Square, Triangle start-up is 5 frames but Square, Triangle, Square start-up 10 frames. can you explain this please. thanks
I might by late, but I'll explain. As you said, Sonya's 12 is 5 frames. And 121 is 10 frames. This means that the last attack in the combo string has that many frames. In 12, 2 has 5 frames startup. In 121, second 1 has 10 frames startup.
it still is, its just that some people play competively like myself. I play for fun with my friends, and family but when I go online I play competively, you can still have hella fun with MKX and all fighting games
***** I'm having a hard time understanding negative recovery frames. Can you explain that? E.g. This move (god ray) is rated at recover: -351 What does that mean?
Great explanation. Great video. My GOD you gotta be a rocket scientist to be successful at MKX. I was always wondering why I was getting hit even though I was blocking or pressing buttons. This frame data shit is over my fucking head. I guess I am just stupid as hell and don't fare well with the new genre of fighting games.
Don't worry, I was the same way. I kept wondering, "Why is nothing coming out when I press a button?!" and "How come the CPU can block faster than me even when I'm holding down the shoulder button?!" Then everything got broken down for me and I understand more.
@@rhondahoward8025 I hate to admit it but MKX is more enjoyable to play than MK11.. Don't get me wrong, it looks great and there's a lot of great improvements overall, but the actual game play, however, is kinda boring.. That's just my personal opinion.. What's your thoughts?
why describe the attacvks with numbers instead of saying low punch high punch... low kick high kick.... like mortal kombat has been since the beginnign of time.
More in depth tutorials like this would be great. Keep up the awesome work.
This is of the most helpful beginner's videos I've found for MKX. Thank you.

BottledCourage One future tip: Don't get discouraged from losing. You'll become a god if you don't.
These are such helpful videos! Thank you for enhancing my MKX experience.

Awesome stuff thank you bro
thank you this really helped:)
This is amazing! Really needed this, i was wondering if i ever could play a match against you? I'm not that good though but i'd like to do so :3

great teaching

Not really, unless you're looking for impeccable playthroughs, if so check V-man and Tony-T
Well how do i make fast, giod combos because some moves in a combo are slower than others
thx 👌

Looking at kotal war god frame data all his moves seem very slow...am I reading it right?
Plus Sub friend that was helpful
whats the advrage ounish. In injustice I think it was like a 6 frame down 1 for this game what is it ?
Best frames for safe combos?
What do you mit with +1 -1?
Great video! Sorry if I missed it in the video but how do you know the distance of an attack?

I think somebody right before me asked this. Lol.
It's the combo, not the starter
i have a question please
some combos starts with the same 1 or 2 and has a different start up frame
like in sonya Square, Triangle start-up is 5 frames
but Square, Triangle, Square start-up 10 frames.
can you explain this please.
thanks
I might by late, but I'll explain.
As you said, Sonya's 12 is 5 frames. And 121 is 10 frames.
This means that the last attack in the combo string has that many frames.
In 12, 2 has 5 frames startup.
In 121, second 1 has 10 frames startup.
StefanPanMK have been thinking about that too. That's what i thought too btw. It's never late bruh!
I remember when MK was about having fun lol.
it still is, its just that some people play competively like myself. I play for fun with my friends, and family but when I go online I play competively, you can still have hella fun with MKX and all fighting games
Its fun when you know things lije this and dont lose
***** I'm having a hard time understanding negative recovery frames. Can you explain that?
E.g. This move (god ray) is rated at recover: -351
What does that mean?
Maybe you can't use it again for that amount of time would make sense with God Ray
It means if you whiff with it it's gonna take you 351 frames before you can hit buttons
Great explanation. Great video. My GOD you gotta be a rocket scientist to be successful at MKX. I was always wondering why I was getting hit even though I was blocking or pressing buttons. @@dailyfilmfix469 I wouldn't know. I've only played Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance and I only own a Playstation 2 right now.
why describe the attacvks with numbers instead of saying low punch high punch... low kick high kick.... like mortal kombat has been since the beginnign of time.
Because it easier to say with numbers to talk about it for both consoles not everyone knows what that means what your saying just shhh
slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww dowwwwwwwwwwwwwwn. ThANKS FOR ATTEMPT to explain things. Better than nothing.
Theres a frame tutorial on MK11! Very helpful if you haven't tried it.
its helpful but not much. Too many things to keep in mind. Scorpion slow as fuck now. MK 11 differs in many ways.
I couldn't understand this... :(
Sub zero down 3 is -1 on block adv...
MKX on PC the hell?
+lamar york store.steampowered.com/app/307780/
It was a pretty horrible launch but it's patched since and rock solid now
It's dead on PC, Shame.
Durmush187 They've fired the old PC Port Team and apparently working on MKXL PC with new netcode.. I'm hopeful since I really hate PSN..
+Arafat Zahan does that mean KP2 will be on PC? cuz the release said its not included for PC
Durmush187 Probably. Nothing is official at the moment but check out Ed Boon(Mortal Kombat co creator)'s twitter.
