    Wow! I've owned #85 for years, read the package insert, taken it to the store for help (where no one had a clue), and just this week, I gave it another go and quit in frustration and found another way to apply the binding. YOU are the first person to show exactly how it is used!! Voila! not that hard, but there are several important tricks to using it successfully. Thanks so much!! BRB, gotta go bind something. 😄

    Both the Bernina 580 and 820 machines have 9mm wide stitches. If you turn your stitch width knob and wide as it will go, it will show you 9mm.

    We are using the Creative Grid 8 1/2 x 24 1/2 ruler in this video. We do have them for sale on our website. The lines are easy to read and it has grippies on the back so it doesn't slide around!

    Thanks so much for this informative video, especially showing how to do mitered corners with the binder! I'm so glad someone finally did a video for all the Bernina binders....excellent!

    Hi Tanya, If your Bernina sews a 5.5mm wide stitch you will need the Foot #95. If your Bernina sews the larger 9mm wide you will need the Foot #95C.

    I have a set of similar bias feet, but not the machine to use it. however, I wanted to say thank you for teaching me how to do the mitered corner, using a bias presser foot! ^_^ now I want a Bernina lol!

  • @HeirloomCreations
    @HeirloomCreations  12 лет назад +1

    For the Bernina 730E you will need the 95C. The "C" is for 9mm wide machines which you are. Always purchase feet with the C when possible.

    Wow excellent video! Even though its an old video, it helped me so much! Along with the original blog post , I now understand everything Bernina Bias binding attachments! lol I have A 570 qe and I just ordered the #88 attachment -38mm to make a finished 3/8th bias on my project using 11/2 unfolded strips of fabric. I hope it's easier than using prefolded binding (for the #87).... I don't like making prefolded bias binding... thank you for an excellent video!

    Hi - It may depend on the fabric weight you are binding. You might take it to your Bernina dealer and show them what you are doing and see if they can see anything you may be doing incorrectly. ~Sara~

    Thank you for the mitred corner at 8:12. Assuming the same steps when using the #88 Attachment?
    Note though - you don't need to unscrew anything. Just swing the feeder away from the foot. That way you don't have to reposition anything once you've got it all set up.

  • @HeirloomCreations
    @HeirloomCreations  11 лет назад

    Yes, you do need to always use bias cut strips in the bias binders.

    Hi Sarah :-)
    A great idea to help all of us dummies that bought the bernina bias binder and .. cant make it work!
    Look so easy in the video from you and even from bernina .. when it comes to try all is errors, which for me is a bit hard to understand as it says it should be so easy to noe sew on bias ... unfortunally not. Do a video on how to .. sew bibs, curved ends as in bibs and most important to make it work .. :-) :-)
    I know from a lot of groups I am in, most of us cant make it work and with such an expencive binder I for one would love some HELP .. guess it would come in handy for quite a lot out here.
    Thank you for listen to the cry out :-)
    Have a nice day.
    Hugs, Dukkemor

    I figured out what I was doing wrong, I put my 2.5 inch folded binding into the binder, but it looks like you do NOT want to fold it over? you measure out binding that will fit into the binder and let it do the folding for you. really a learning curve

  • @LulingCarRally

    Sara, I have one of these (28 mm) and have a problem. It seems that no matter how much I mash the fabric (flat big peice i'm putting binding on) into the binder. After the binding is applied, there is a lot of space inside the binding. I'd like it fabric inside the binding to be flush against the binding. Are there adjustments to the binder itself I can make that might help this? I can't find any info on the internet about it, though maybe you could advise.

    Hi I am new to sewing and have stumbled across your video! It is great!! I have a few questions i really hope you could answer.
    1. If I am wanting to bias bind edges in blouses, dresses etc, what size in both attachment #87 and #88 would be enough?
    2. And is the sizes they come in indicative of what the finished bias binding will look like on the garment or the size you feed into the foot to begin with?
    3. If I'm only wanting to finish garment edges, which clover bias maker would be best to then be compatible with the size you have recommended me in question 1 for attachment #87?
    ie: to use #87 for clothes with premade bias strips, which clover maker should I get?
    4. Would you recommend #87 or #88 if I could only get one?
    Thank you for your help and I love love your videos all the way from Australia!
