    You can get a tool that widens the strut gap and it is very cheap.

      That correct, but I only found out about it a few months ago

    lucky to get that 15mm lower shock bolt out. mine is stuck fast and now rounded :(

    • @GentilsGarage
      @GentilsGarage  8 месяцев назад +1

      damn :( only solution is to try and hammer in a slightly smaller impact socket and undo it with plenty of heat and penetrating fluid. Or, weld a nut on it

      @@GentilsGarage i was in a time crunch to change the spring for mot so i just undid the track rod and lower ball joint (replaced recently so they came apart) and the top of the strut. it gives just enough room to change spring and top mount. i will replace the whole hub when i replace the shocks. they are cheap enough :)

      It’s a bit harder I think. What I’ve done is similar to Ford, except easier as it’s done on a lift.

    Hi I put brand new shock and top months on my focus and put back on car took it for test spin and the knocking from the top was so bad but when I put back on the old top hat with the new bearing it when is there two types off top months for the old and new focus mine is 2009 can u tell me please thanks

    • @GentilsGarage
      @GentilsGarage  Год назад +1

      That’s strange as I’ve only seen one type of top mount.
      One cause of the top mount k ouch is when the bearing doesn’t sit properly in the top of the spring. For that the notch on the bearing must line up with the guide pin at the bottom of the strut.
