    • @defiance1790
      @defiance1790 5 лет назад

      AGrayPhantom to say a prophecy has been fulfilled when the claim and fulfillment has passed is hard to determine the accuracy of either it being true or not. To say “I’m pretty sure it never happened” (I assume) is coming from the mindset of thinking the event would be so rare that it’s hard to imagine... but if it was common then what significance would it have?
      As for your claim that Jesus said “he would return before those amongst Him died”, He also said that all of the Apostles would live a shortened life and die a violent death, except John. If Jesus’s return is suppose to save everyone who believes then it would seem He made two separate predictions that contradict each other.... there would be no sense in a prophet doing this, unless perhaps you’ve misinterpreted the prophecy.

    I love it when non-mathematical people try to do math. If someone predicts that the messiah will ride into town on a donkey in exactly 483 years, what is the probability that AT LEAST one person will ride into town on a donkey that day claiming to be the messiah? I would guess somewhere around 100%.

    • @dballs52

      My question about this claim is how did they know it had been 483 years to the day when Isaiah was written somewhere around 700 bc? If jesus was born in 0 (not born in 0 i know, but it is within 10 years of 0, assuming jesus was a real person) wouldn't that leave somewhere around 200 years unaccounted for?

    Brandon: The bible is a piece of literature, a collection of varied literary genres written by multiple authors over the span of many centuries. Most of it is embodied in the genres of narrative, poetry, letters, and visionary writings. The two creation accounts are contradictory. They come from two different segments of the Jewish population of about 2000 years ago. Each is a completely different story. The scribes/priests included both legends in Genesis in order not to offend either group.

    Brandon doesn't realize that Daniel was very accurate up until about 200 BC. After 200 BC his prophecies fail, proving that he wrote the book after the fact. Also, there is a ten year discrepancy of Jesus birth, one writer saying in was 4 BC another saying 6 AD.
    In 70 CE after the fall of Jerusalem, the priestly class knew the gig was up, so they tried to create a new religion by writing mythical tales about a guru who was already in the process of creating a new religion, kind of like Ron Hubbard created Scientology.
    You ,sir, have been duped, and you are duping other people, but we aren't concerned, your religion is failing, and in 200 years it will just be a fact of history, kind of like the Druids and Celts of the past.

    Congratulation Brandon, you just convinced me that the Jesus story is completely made up and that there never even was a mundane person the stories were based on. If someone writes "In exactly X years something is going happen" and X years later somebody else writes those things happened, then most certainly the events never happened. "Prophecy" proves there never was an historical Jesus as the Gospel writers just mined the OT for prophecies and then had their Jesus character fulfill them. No real person required.

    The problem with ANY prophesy achievable by man--such as riding a donkey into town on a certain day--is that it was already out there that it should happen. So yeah, ANY dude could just calculate the date and ride a donkey into town--with no need for divinity at all. OR, someone after the fact could just add that little detail into their dude's story if it happened or not because who's going to know? How do you fact check who did or didn't ride a donkey into a specific town on some date 60 years prior in the ancient world? You don't. So anyone could have figured that bit out decades later and slipped it in to "strengthen" the claim, even if it never happened at all.
    If it's not the moon getting torn in two or a volcanic eruption or something man cannot influence, then it is--quite simply--100% USELESS as far as prophesy goes. And that is ESPECIALLY true if you publicize the prophesy in public and in advance.

    The more I watch Vi, the better I like her as a cohost. Vi chimed in at really opportune times with logical fallacies and there were times when she just reacted with "what? Wait!" comments that were hilarious. Nice work. Vi brought concerns about the "Bible" full circle when she mentioned the circular reasoning Brandon was using.
    Typically, Brandon plowed forward as if it's not a problem. At least other Christians will try to bring in historians like Josephus us justifications for historical Jesus, though Josephus never confirmed the stories of Jesus as coming through the gates of Israel on an ass at a specific time in history. Nothing that specific was ever mentioned in historical accounts . . . and even he's been translated and mistranslated multiple ways. Credible Christians will even concede that, which is why they tend to rest their beliefs on faith.

    John 3:16 is proof that that the Bible is less internally consistent than Harry Potter.
    let me explain this because either the "god" referenced in the passage created the law for atonement or they didn't.
    If the god referenced in John 3:16 was the same God in the old testament that created the law, why was Jesus necessary? Wasn't this god capable of changing his own laws?
    If no, the referenced God in the passage was Not the one who created the laws, then he is obviously a lesser god, beholden to Yahweh and who is more loving and trying to give humans a break from the capricious bloodthirsty tyrannical Jewish Tribal Sky wizard. But why was Jesus necessary?
    In either case, Jesus isn't necessary.

    Brandon, If you read this, the first point is that nobody has ever proved that jesus ever existed.
    Jesus is merely a character in a series of stories, written more than forty years after the supposed death of jesus.
    He is no more real than Gandalf or Frodo.
    Not one of the "prophecies" in the bible has ever been shown to be correct.

    • @joesmoke9624
      @joesmoke9624 5 лет назад

      jusfugly That's not true according to Cambridge professors and even Richard Dawkins says Jesus existed but doubts the miracles etc. The big question is whether Jesus died and lived??

    • @jusfugly
      @jusfugly 5 лет назад +1

      @@joesmoke9624 - Regardless of who says that jesus lived, there is simply zero evidence that jesus ever existed.
      The gospels were written, late in the first century, more than forty years after the supposed death of jesus.
      Jesus is the subject of a series of stories written in the gospels.
      Everything else, ever written about jesus was written after the gospels.
      There is no evidence of his existence before that.
      We therefore have no evidence, beyond the fact that he is a character in a book.
      Jesus was supposedly around for about 33 years.
      There is no evidence that he wrote or signed anything.
      None of his close 12 followers wrote anything.
      Nobody who saw or met him wrote anything about it.
      The Romans, who occupied the area at the time, sent many letters and reports back to Rome.
      Scholars have looked at these, in great detail, but have failed to find anything that confirms any of the stories in the gospels.
      More than forty years passes after jesus "dies" and suddenly, a group of people decide to write the stories.
      They remember intricate details of things they couldn't have possibly known.
      For instance, jesus went out into the desert, alone, to be tempted and to have a talk to his dad.
      Considering the fact that he was alone, there seems to be a lot of detail of his conversations..
      If the gospels were a historical account of somebody who existed, many of the details would have been left out, as they could not have been known.
      The gospels, however, read as a story.
      As there are no cross referencing documents that confirm any of it, the only logical conclusion is that the stories are fiction.

    • @joesmoke9624
      @joesmoke9624 5 лет назад

      Jusfugle Are you a biblical scholar? Because those I speak of are. And noway would Richard Dawkins stick his neck out and say Jesus existed if he didn't think there is evidence to validate it.
      If you don't care what these people say/think then I don't care what you say or think. Perhaps you should take it up with Cambridge professors and watch how they would tear you apart in your arguments. Personally, I think Jesus was an extraordinary man, and a prophet. He is also talked about in the Koran and other surviving text, talk about him.
      I doubt if history could have created Jesus, his movement his teachings,
      his whole world changing philosophy, no myth could be this all encompassing and world altering dogma principles, and ideas.
      No way could this man have been dreamt up or created.
      Throughout history he has had an impact not only in Christianity but other religions too.
      History is the past considered as whole and the affairs of humankind.
      All of the past and all of humankind have been shaped by Jesus's teachings. This impact on history would not be possible if Jesus
      was just a creation of his own times. If it was a creation of Jesus's own
      time and era, it would not be possible for such a spiritual awakening and belief to take hold of the entire world and to spread far and wide to create an epiphany in the human psyche. It would have only be localised to the place it was created. All of history and to the present day his teaching and his existence has been woven so to speak into the fabric of our own collective reasoning and beliefs on what it means to be human.
      I rest my case, but you can go and argue with the experts. Farewell and all the very best to you an yours.

      @@joesmoke9624 - Argument from authority is not a valid method of obtaining the truth.
      Your argument seems to be: "Some very educated people, including one well known atheist, believe that jesus was real, therefore jesus existed"
      That's not much of a "case" at all.
      Of course biblical scholars think there was a jesus.
      Biblical "scholars" begin with the premise of, "I know that jesus existed and I'm going to prove it."
      An honest researcher simply follows the evidence and makes no assumptions.
      Richard Dawkins does to speak for me or represent me in any way.
      The only thing we share in common is that we are both atheists.
      Being an atheist is not like being in a religion.
      Thee are no leaders, deciding what we believe and what we don't believe.
      That is how a religion works.
      As I stated, there is no evidence that jesus ever existed.
      The Koran was written a long time after the gospels, so any mention of jesus is not evidence of his existence.
      The people who wrote the Koran were merely familiar with the bible, obviously.
      All of your ravings about how great you think jesus was, have no bearing on the truth.
      The truth is that there is simply no evidence that he ever existed.
