diyforknucklehe... How to Build an Awesome Farmhouse Style, Rustic Dining Table. G’day Knuckleheads, Uncle Knackers here and Welcome to Part 1 of my how to Build an Awesome Dining Table out of Reclaimed Materials. In this video we look at sourcing the material and building the actual table top. It comes up a treat let me tell ya! All of the reclaimed timber comes from the part demolition of our old house. The table top is made from the old fascia boards and the legs from the old fence that l pulled down.

Have a great day and l’ll see you again real soon. 😁
Nice one Shane, I use a piece of wood with a couple of speaker magnets glued to it like a metal detector wand ( or maybe they were out of an old microwave, can't remember) , anyway seems to work OK so far, you can feel the pull when you go anywhere near anything metal. If you held the wood vertically with your way of doing it and pulled the string upwards the old magnet would dance around when it came near anything, would look good for the kids to see too, keep up the good work mate !
This is looking great. Happy to have you back.
Thanks mate 👍
Dewalt, my favorite brand of every tool, machine. Best in my book. Love the video...laughs too. Always great job.
Yeah you can't go far wrong with a Dewalt Debi 👍 Glad you liked the video and thanks for the feedback 👍😁🇦🇺
Jeez I've been watching for about 5 years now. Nice one Knackers!
Great to have you back =) Missed you lots =) Looking forward to part two =)
Thanks Veronica. Part 2 comping up shortly 👍
Hey mate been awhile since I've been on your channel nice to see the word working projects are back
Wood
Thanks mate 👍
It's the million dollar push stick. :)
Diamond encrusted Mac 😁
Nah, that would be $10M and still require a proprietary dongle 😜😂
The push stick is simple and sacrificial, limbs, etc not so much. Unless you are insured for $1M, Uncle Knackers? 😜
i never thought that watching someone assembling boards could be so entertaining.
Please carry on.
Hahahaha...assembling boards is a very complex activity Elias LOL. I hope you can stick around for Part 2 which l'll upload tomorrow. Cheers mate 👍
Hello Uncle, what Dewalt model is it exactly? I'm planning on buying the DWE7485 for my small shop and I wonder what's your experience with it, is it a job site one?
Aaarrrrhhh - the cuppa tea is back. I am just about to build a table from some old jarrah floor boards. Can't wait for your next video.
Welcome back again Shane, a nice starter build for 2017 even with the school boy error (do 500 lines 'i must check the blade height') ha ha ha. Looking forward to the rest of the build, and the outcome of the table top and legs.
Barry (ENG)
Hi just a question..
Why you didn’t clamp the top board instead of putting screws? (To avoid cupping)
I see you kept the clamps on the boards next to the 2x4s you screwed on to keep the boards level. Why? It seems to me that once you screwed on the 2x4s they not only kept the boards flush, but also together as tightly as you had clamped them.
Or, am I missing something? (other than experience, LOL)
"Bob's ya uncle" 😂 good to have you back bro:)
the house is finally done! congrats on that milestone!🍻💥 glad to see your back at it! look fwd to part 2!and the finale
Thanks Joe....yeah l was pretty happy to have it finished l tell ya!....it was a bit of a mission 🙂. Part 2 coming up shortly mate. Stay tuned 👍
shaneconlan1 ALWAYS!! And it was a good mission though with excellent results feels like a lifetime since u last made a recycled materi project.
Is the magnet technique any better than the hand held metal detectors you can buy? .. I know it would obviously be cheaper, but it looks a whole lot slower.
Really enjoy your videos. Thanks from Texas
Loving it Shano 👌 currently renovating with the in-laws for the second time and we all love to see your stuff. Easily explained and some clever tips I'll keep throughout my work life. Cheers knuckle head 👊🏻🤠
Good stuff G.R.F.! and all the best on the Reno. You have my admiration. Cheers 👍
Shane, I don't know about you, but when I used my brand new DeWalt table saw like yours, I nearly shed a tear as I didn't want to use it. I upgraded from a Triton and the Dewalt is a ripper. Also, did you make a video on your workbench with your table saw attached to it. It looks great. Can't wait for part 2. Cheers
Yes Rosscoe, a tear did well up.😭 No l didn't make a video on the saw stand....l probably should have. Cheers mate 👍👍
I subbed to you when I came out of the homeless shelter - ended up in subsidized housing with a pretty run down room - starting doing my own DIY furniture projects in the backyard and it got me in trouble with the landlord. They were a shady controlling bunch, I am living in the countryside with my new girlfriend now but am a bit embittered by the whole thing. Have some reclaimed wood in the garage I havent touched in months. Glad to see you back, maybe this summer I will get back to it with your inspiration
G'day Mister. Hope you get back on track soon mate and get stuck into some of those projects. It's a very satisfying pastime. Good luck mate and let me know how you go. Cheers 👍👍
Awesome video Shane! Glad to see the table saw off the stand and incorporated into an out feed table/bench. I need to do the same with my small table saw. The short fence sometimes is a pain ripping long pieces of "timba." Love that term "gluts," never heard that before.
G'day Dave. Yeah the saw fits well on the end of my bench. Space is at as premium in my garage so having it tucked away there works well. Cheers mate🙂
looking forward to seeing it finished. Quick question, what eye protection are you using and do they go over your glasses? from a fellow spectacle wearer 🤓
Part 2 is coming up soon Niall. Safety glasses are the Bain of my life!! I actually take my glasses off and wear regular goggles as l haven't found a pair yet that fit properly over my specs. The hunt continues and thanks for watching 👍
Thanks Shane, i've not seen a bickie machine before, very cool mate. Stay safe uncle and i'll cop ya ron.....
G'day mate. Good to hear from ya. Yeah l like the old bickie machine. Makes joining boards together pretty easy. Cheers mate 😁
Welcome back. It's about time!
Better the work bench than the kitchen bench 😊 Looking good but you're gunna need some help moving it I reckon. At least those north coast winds wont blow it away.
Hahahaha....yeah l couldn't believe that l did that...rookie error☺️ Mate it weighs a tonne! I almost blew a valve trying to move it 😁
I appreciate you, thanks for sharing this. question what is your accent ? it's nice accent .
Ahmed from Iraq.
Thanks for watching Ahmed. My accent is Australian 👍
Great to see you back shane, had a lot a rain up there lately eh. Been hanging out waiting for your return, as usual easy to follow projects with simple instructions and advice. what were your first impressions using the Dewalt table saw
Owen we have copped a pizzling!! No leaks thanks god! I loved the Dewalt! I was however a little surprised at how noisy it was. Scared the chooks half to death 😁 Cheers mate
Instead of such a tiny magnet, a magnetic floor sweep makes quick work of wide boards or a few.
I haven't seen one of those Adam. I'll have to check one out. Cheers
Mate what could you use instead of a biscuit jointer for the grooves? Maybe dowl pegs ?
Yeah mate, dowels would work well. Good luck!
Nice to see you back at it, Shane!
Thanks Matt 🙂
I’d rather watch paint dry!.....No I wouldn’t 😜🍻🦘
😂....Now that's a comment coming from a retired painter 😂😂
A video on how u made that extension to your workbench for you table saw would be a great one! :-)
Send me a private message with your email Marc and l'll send you through some photos. Cheers 👍
Yay! The magnet trick is incorporated here! "...and Bob's your uncle." Haha! Classic! 😂👍🏼
why are you whispering?
you`re good at this, why don`t you try and build yout own house? ;) great video! :)
Hahahahahha...very funny Martijn. Thanks for watching mate 👍
I like it Uncle Knackers!

👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Hi Shane. Did you make the stand for the table saw?
Yes l did John. It’s just a simple shelf that l attached to the end of the bench👍
Nice video, congrats from Brazil.
Thanks for watching Abdel 🙂
Great to see you making videos again. Awesome job!
Thanks mate 🙂
Very nice build! At the next! #PaoloBradaDIY
Thanks mate 👍
thats a good tip using the magnet to find nails. its not to much fun finding a hidden one with a table saw.
Yeah Steve. If you want to find a nail, just run it through your saw...you'll find it with the blade LOL
Please can you add the materials list to the clio. Many thankd
Hi Lynette......unfortunatly l don't have the materials list for the table....sorry about that 😊
So glad you're back at it. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Clayton 👍
Great video! Entertaining, interesting and very clear!
Thanks Maikel 🙂 ...l appreciate the feedback mate. Cheers

Jurgen klopp ....... or is it just me 😂😂😂
Actually Paul, l think Jurgen looks like me 😂 Yeah when you do a google image search there's some fairly similar looks. 👍
Hahaha So enjoyable and useful. 🥰😂
👍😁🇦🇺
Typically it's safer to have the smaller waste part of your rip to the outside of the blade, not against the fence.
I'm ready for part 2. from tom from wodonga vic
Part 2 coming up shortly Tom. Good old Wodonga. Stopped there a few times on my way down to Vic. Cheers mate

Looking forward to part 2
Coming up soon mate 🙂
Great stuff.
👍😁....Thanks Robert! I'm actually sitting at that table as l write this comment 😁
Awesome Shane, think I may have to invest in a Biscuit Joiner! Love the magnet radar thingy ! I bought a hundred year old dunny door for my cabinet bench top ($20) & it's come up a treat ;) Can't wait for Pt 2 mate! Great to see the De Walt in action :)
Thanks T Mac. The magnet thingy works really well. I use it all the time. The old dunny doors look great. I've used them before. Cheers mate 😁
Glad to see you back at making woodworking projects!!
Cheers mate 👍
uncle knackers is back! nice
👍
Shane, you make it look so easy.
Even if I’m not going to make a table, the technique will apply to other projects like a work bench for example. If I tried it now I’d end up with a gigantic bird feeder.
😂😂
Shane, great video, great project!!! Great 2 gave u back 😁
Love you logo 👍👍👍
Thanks Josh. I appreciate the feedback mate 👍
Glad you like it mate 🙂
😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
😁👍
You make this easy, great fun and..fascinating. Also, I am actually getting the idea that hey..maybe a dunderhead like me could do this, too???
