Deepseek is OPEN SOURCE. It means anyone can look at the source code, modify and customise it to their hearts content even. It'll be pretty stupid if they coded it to do malicious things and then leave it completely out in the open for the whole world to see, dont you think? Also since its open source you can remove anything from the source code you may think is suspicious. So the whole trust issue is a non starter. Secondly they also published a technical paper elaborating how they managed to train deepseek with the claimed resources and funds and some people who are already testing and replicating the process seem to think the numbers are legit. Lastly the utterly blinkered comment about it being biased towards China is hilarious. Just cause it replies that chinese people love their president? Has it even occured to the person that it gives that reply cause its True? Yes, Chinese people like their president xi jing ping. Open source is the answer. The lack of open source in Android is the #1 reason for no major tech advances on phones since Google closed it. Apple hasn't pushed innovation in at least a decade and this is why your iPhone is just a prettier version of your old iPhone with a slightly more powerful chip. Open source is also a big reason crypto has exploded in market value.

1) its open source and you can make a version called DeepFake that says whatver you want about China
2) China is very transparent about its censorship so you know what information wont be accurate

As of yesterday I'm running the DeepSeek 32B version on my laptop. Now I'm integrating our databases with it offline keeping our app and database secure. I haven't been able to do anything like this until now due to cost. Now I have an open source model with no cost.
