i would have done the exact same thing with the dryer! doing the same tomorrow and its on the outside, ha. give them what they pay for…always but stand behind the work you do and will always have work! thanks for the vids as always.
@11:25 ish.....im not an hvac tech but wont the debris from sanding the larger of the two refrigerant lines get into the system? Wont this cause issues down the line? Oh, and is there any kind of filter that can be used in a situation like this? Just curious...
Mine wasn't installed with a drier but when we changed out the condensing unit and did a full vacuum the new one went in with one. It worked a lot better too even with it 89 degrees in my house the first supply air was in the low 50s!
You did good. I'm usually the kind of person who uses a knife to straighten out bent condenser fins though on spare concrete trucks I've driven while mine's getting pm'd
I cleaned several evaps in place . Used shop vac sprayer with evap spray to keep down order . I would brush coil first the use air then spray and rinse both sides. Controlling mess with shop vac.
I think you did a great job, you did what you had to fix the issue within their budget, we need more repair guys like you out here, ones that understand not everyone has a bucket of cash to spend on repairs
You did what was needed to keep things low. As long as the refrigerant was never really exposed to moisture I would think the drier should be fine especially considering what is needed to access and replace. Good Job as always
The dryer is in the unit which means you got a dump all refrigerant out recovering it and putting it back which is going to make the job take twice as long and he’s not making a lot of money on this job. If you want to add another one then, so be it plenty out there was two in there lol.❤😂😢😅
It would be great if all evaporators were this easy to pull and clean. The worst ones that I get are from smokers houses. Looks like a bed of tar built up all over the fins. It sure is a good feeling to get em clean and breathing again. Nicely done.
It's easy for the armchair critics to judge. This is where the true professional can determine something necessary vs. something that should be done. It's commendable to help ones in need and be able to know where cuts can be safely made. Good job Curtis!
How do you keep copper shards from dropping into the suction line when you de-bur it. I use the same tool, which does a great job, but if the line is standing up the shards fall into the line.
I always had the inkling that if your filter drier was in the condensing coil, and doesn't get exposed to atmosphere (pump down) why bother changing it. The only reason why I can come up with is for copper shavings plugging it up. But best practice is don't get any in the line set to begin with.
Look people in the comments wouldn't say you were doing a bad job if you weren't, it's like you're trying to say people who know everything don't know everything! Plus who watches HVAC videos unless they have an issue?
Ok if the dryer is inside the contended system when doing a pump down and not exposed to air that shouldn't be a problem unless you're having a problem with the condenser or a restriction on the dryer.
I REQUESTED ON ANOTHER VIDEO, MAYBE IT WAS TOO OLD FOR YOU TO PICK UP THE COMMENT, I REQUESTED THAT I WOULD BE PLEASED IF YOU WOULD DO A VIDEO ON YOUR TOOLING BAG, THE TOOLS WITHIN AND WHY YOU CHOSE THEM. IT WOULD BE A GREAT HELP FOR UP AND COMING HVAC GUYS TO UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHY WE CARRY WHAT WE DO... THANKS...
I will get lynched for this. I have taken dryers off and just tossed them, and charged up. When you pull a good vacuum, even with the old dryer, it removes any moisture, and unless it is clogged, it will still filter any particles. Just saying. I think you did a great job, this is not a perfect world.
Keeping a filter clean doesn’t cost a lot,and can save a lot of money that you don’t have later, Lot of folk wouldn’t even bother with this hassle job.
I was going to ask you why you didn’t make a furnace to bottom coil pan to distribute the air better thru the the evaporator. But at end they wanted a basic repair. Good job. Could you answer a question about yesterday system. 1 did it have a low pressure switch in outside unit? 2. Would outside run on call just w/o the outside fan??

I have the A coil on the bottom of the furnace due to being a downdraft furnace, and I'll say it sucks booty to clean!! The top of the A coil was loaded full of hair, and sand. The poor fins are about 30 percent corroded due to not being cleaned in years. I ended up taking the little A shaped plate off the front of the A coil so I can get the garden hose into the A coil and blast the crap out of it. I took a lot of old towels down in the duct, and spread on the sides, back and front of the A coil on the bottom of the furnace to help contain the foam of the coil brightener from Refrigerated Technologies, and I let it soak on the A coil for about 10 minutes. It would make you puke with the amount of crap the foam pulled out of the coil. Aluminum chunks of broken off fins, dirt, probably mold, and anything else. Once done, and all cleaned up; the A/C worked the best it has in years. It's an older 2007 R22 unit, just had the HVAC company come out and do a performance check on it, and it is still operating great, with no indication of refrigerant loss. They where quite impressed with how clean the outdoor unit was. The issue is, it sucks cleaning these A coils in mobile homes, the furnaces don't do justice with air filtration even with changing filters regularly, dirty air still bypasses the filter due to poor designed filter housings, and this being a upper draft furnace; harder to clean the coil with chemicals in place; so you almost have to pull to clean.
That filter drier was before the king valve it'll be fine
Crimp tool make the job so much easier and faster. Loved it
Good Job !!!
God job man I wish I had your knowledge brother 👍
i would have done the exact same thing with the dryer! doing the same tomorrow and its on the outside, ha. give them what they pay for…always but stand behind the work you do and will always have work! thanks for the vids as always.
Curtis, your still the best.
Good mornig
Very very nice. All nice and clean now. Good job very good job.
they make a fin comb that may help straiten some of those fins out on the condenser coil. just offering a suggestion. I enjoyed the video
Just enjoy watching you work and now really considering the press tool 😮 it’s so expensive lol
Good Job Curtis
Your a good man... Anyone else would have taken them to the cleaners for sure. Great Job!

I wish we had a Curtis by us.👍
in the future you will find out is faster and better to remove the pan and the top cover, the drier is fine, thanks for sharing.

You didn’t do bad at all, I agree why you didn’t replace the Drier. It helped me get knowledge about doing service!
I think you did a great job, you did what you had to fix the issue within their budget, we need more repair guys like you out here, ones that understand not everyone has a bucket of cash to spend on repairs
The press tool makes it easy to remove and replace the coil.
It's an amazing tool. I have water lines, water softener, and water heater all running with pressed fittings.
You did a great job! Absolutely nothing wrong with not changing the filter dryer.
Curtis u did a amazing job 😊
Goodman units have the filter dryer inside the condenser anyway. If you pumped it down you technically didn't expose it to moisture.
You did what was needed to keep things low. As long as the refrigerant was never really exposed to moisture I would think the drier should be fine especially considering what is needed to access and replace. Good Job as always
I cleaned a couple of coils like that in place. I will use a mask next time. It was a pain.
You carried out a nice job there Curtis, that clogged up coil cleaned up nicely, and you done your best for this customer 👍
The dryer is in the unit which means you got a dump all refrigerant out recovering it and putting it back which is going to make the job take twice as long and he’s not making a lot of money on this job. If you want to add another one then, so be it plenty out there was two in there lol.❤😂😢😅
That was a serious case of plugobuggo! You had a budget to work with, you did what was most important, you did a great job!
It would be great if all evaporators were this easy to pull and clean. The worst ones that I get are from smokers houses. Looks like a bed of tar built up all over the fins. It sure is a good feeling to get em clean and breathing again. Nicely done.
Your good curtis.I would done same thing on keeping cost down.
What would the avg cost for this service be in your area?
As always you videos are great to watch . Customer should be very happy for what you did.
It's easy for the armchair critics to judge. This is where the true professional can determine something necessary vs. something that should be done. It's commendable to help ones in need and be able to know where cuts can be safely made. Good job Curtis!
Amen, Brother! 👍🙏
Man I like that one, armchair critics. There are some that just pretend they know everything.
How do you keep copper shards from dropping into the suction line when you de-bur it. I use the same tool, which does a great job, but if the line is standing up the shards fall into the line.
microns and water don't mix, especially with no caps, and the microns not holding.with the power on,an extension might work.

It’ll live without a new filter drier. You got the job done within the customers budget and it’s working. That’s all that matters.
What sprayer is that? I need that coil cleaner disperser.
I am surprised you didn't remove pan from coil to clean them separately.
That's what it's all about making the customer happy
Mines set up backwards, do I just pop it open?
My man, breaks his vacuum with refrigerant into positive pressure before he puts his valves back in!
Curtis you don’t need to explain yourself. It is what it is.
Look people in the comments wouldn't say you were doing a bad job if you weren't, it's like you're trying to say people who know everything don't know everything! Plus who watches HVAC videos unless they have an issue?
don't underate yourself. u did great!
It would be nice to have shut off valves at the evaporator as well so they could be removed a lot more easily.
You can't do a bad job if you tryed. If it works great job 👍👍
Did you replace the filter
Nice job.
Ok if the dryer is inside the contended system when doing a pump down and not exposed to air that shouldn't be a problem unless you're having a problem with the condenser or a restriction on the dryer.
Curtis helping the folks out; not everyone is wealthy, but they usually are nice. 😎
as always, great job. I would have changed the return filter though. The filter drier will be ok.

what size vacuum hose is that? where can I find one/
True Blue I think they’re called at TruTech tools
Looks good to me
I will get lynched for this. I have taken dryers off and just tossed them, and charged up. I believe you are talked to him about putting a filter in and change it every 3 months😢😢
personal opinion theres no reason to replace the drier if it isnt opened to atmosphere and a good vacuum is pulled on lineset and evap
Keeping a filter clean doesn’t cost a lot,and can save a lot of money that you don’t have later,
Lot of folk wouldn’t even bother with this hassle job.
What does it cost to have a unit cleaned like this?
Do you work Macon area?
i could here it hisssin ha ha ha
Great job cleaning, but for the minimal cost of a dryer, I would have replaced. However, you expected that comment.😊
Filter was inside the Goodman unit...
We charge 440.00 to replace..
If outside, 185.00
Your job was so bad that it cools now
😂😂😂😂😂
Cool😊😊
Nice work Curtis ! I see what happens while you don't brush your teeth every day or never ! gross! Looks like you need more stuff in the way !
It's easier when a thick mat of dust has completely covered the inside of the "A" coil and it can be ripped out in one piece ! Ha Ha !
maybe it was a charcoal filter? LOL
I don’t envy you….but there must be a boat load of mobile homes in Georgia…I hate working on them as a plumber….
👍👍
Yikes that's dirty
There’s perfection and there’s always going to be jobs that get done at a given budget 🤷♂️. Sacrifices must be made…
Whoa. Filthy. Thx.

I’m not really sure.
@@HVACGUY thanks for getting back to me
I thought you did a good job. I could see changing the filter dryer if it was on the outside of the condenser. Wasn't exposed to the air. Good video
Opinions are Like Butts, Everyone has One. 👍 Those Who are Critical are Clueless and/or they have had Very Few or NO Accomplishments in their Little World. 👎
You should have combed out those fins..
I guess they were running without a filter
You did the job they could maybe afford. Nothing wrong with that.
1st lol
The only thing to criticize you about is you're wearing too much clothing. Need to see more tank tops and shorts! Display those ripped guns and quads!
