Contact Mark Anderson at Anderson outfitters.
Tell him you want to camp at McAree rapids.
Drive up to Crane Lake. Sleep at the Pineville hotel. Or the fancy place in town.
Mark can supply you with everything besides footwear and maybe rain jackets.
He will take you on a 2+ hour high speed boat ride up the curvy loon river. Across two mechanical portages and 10 miles across Lake La Croix and drop you off by some rapids. Camp near there or do a short portage and a 15 minute paddle to the McAree rapids. If you go in the spring. The rapids will be roaring. The camp site is right on the shore.
      Its never too late

My favorite boundary waters video so far. Love the base camp and more leisurely day trips. Makes for a much more relaxing adventure. I do miss the scenery and environment growing up in the north woods, but not the mosquitoes and black flies. That is one huge black bear to have in the neighborhood. Stay safe!

My friends and I went to Kawishiwi Lake with my Grumman Sport Canoe w/ 7.5 Johnson motor. We could fish 1/2 the lake, but the BWCA cut through and we couldn't go past this one island. There was no portaging involved as we had waaaay to much beer to haul, lol! It was June 9-16, 1986. Would've been my 24th bday! Yesterday was my 61st and it was such a pleasure catching your video here! Brought back great memories, but to be honest - I'd have MUCH rather had my own version of Cierra with me and done your kind of camping, than with 3 other dudes hell bent on seeing how hammered we could get there without killing ourselves! ha ha! Happily married 33 years now and empty nesters on our own little piece of heaven in northern Iowa and we're retired and are raising some beautiful gardens and are wanting to get some chickens going, but probably not til next spring. I have a lot of infrastructure to create 1st! New sub. Thanks!

Homestead is looking good...always big plans you are implementing. Since water is so hard to come by, might need to use a big funnel to pour it into the blue shower container. Don't want to waste precious commodity. Thanks for sharing!

What’s really cool is that it appears other campers have been respectful to the area and kept it clean. Kyle! That’s exactly how I was raised by my parents…always….always leave wood for the next camper. And not to leave a piece of wrapping paper on the earths floor. Mom made sure to keep it clean…Aw…poor hungry bear. He was kinda cute. He’s only doing what they do when an opportunity arises….I only feel this way if it’s not a human. But, some humans are really stupid….
