Maybe put a little lubricant like anti-seize on the motor shaft and put a small taper on the front top part of the key to help in line up the pump to motor shaft on reassembly. Also to aid in Lineup of the bolt holes to the motor cut off 3 pieces of a longer size bolt minus the head of the bolt to aid reassembly by taking one stud out at a time and replacing each original bolt in it's place. Great video as always Dan. Perfect timing with it too.i picked up a nearly new Simpson brand unit for free with a cracked pump from sitting in a cold garage over the winter. Now I know how to change that style pump. I’m giving the pressure washer to my son. Please keep the videos coming
I just had a brain storm(or possibly a brain fart). Every time you take a bolt out,put a 16D nail in the hole so that the engine stays put while taking the old pump off and putting the new pump on. I’ll be changing one when the weather breaks here and turns to spring. I’ll let you know if my idea works or not. In the mean time, please keep the videos coming
My Father in law gave me a used power washer after he couldn’t get it to work correctly. The original pump was the boxer style, 6 piston opposed, it to cracked the housing I believe due to it freezing. I could not find a cheap enough replacement like the original style, went with the same style you installed, fit right on, shipped to my door was less than $100, new wand, 50’ high pressure hose and a foam cannon set up for washing cars, all in less than $200. To buy the same unit would cost almost $375, not a bad investment. I installed three inch threaded rod in place of the bolts. Mounted the motor by using a nut on top, threaded rod, a thin nut against the frame which secures the motor, pump next against the thin nuts, and another nut on the end of each rod. This way if I need to service the pump it’s three nuts and it comes right off, leaving the motor secure.
Repairing anything is a pain in the butt. It's never fun or easy. My pump cracked on the popcorn metal manifold and water pissed everywhere too. Thanks for the demo.
This might be a dumb question but I’ve been looking how to change the pump oil on this same exact pressure washer and I can’t find anything… do you ever need to change it??
So what happens if water is coming out of the chemical port? I'm getting like 50% pressure but with all of the water shooting out of the chemical port it's not at 100% pressure. How do I make the water stop from coming out of the chemical port so I can get a 100% water pressure ????
I just picked up one of these used, it seems a very weak. Is that the way they are, or is there something wrong with it. The engine is running fine, could it be the relief valve is not closing?
@@DansVlog Thanks for the reply. It was leaking between the upper and lower halves, I removed the 3 allen bolts and separated the halves. Everything looked ok, I put it back together and tighted the bolts firmly and it is not leaking anymore. Tested it, and it doesn’t seem to have much power. I will test it again and listen for the engine changing tone like you suggested in your video.
That Stihl pressure washer is almost similar to my Troy Built pressure washer I have. I don’t know if I would by the Stihl model of pressure washer or keep my Troy Built pressure washer. Thoughts?
Hey Dan, Do you think it would be beneficial for me to convert my 4.0 gpm pump from direct drive to belt drive. Do you know of anyone who has done this. I am not sure if the expense and work would be worth. My pump is an A R 4000 psi, 4.0 GPM.
@@DansVlog I may not change mine either. I just seen different videos saying belt drive is easier on pump. I was just wondering what the cost vs benefit would be. I can't find d any videos on changing it.
It would require an entirely different pump mount and you would need proper pulley for the engine’s shaft. Too much trouble for me, probably why no one did it in video 😂
My italian R.I. pump has lasted 14 yrs full time. Karcher washer. Only Italian pumps last. Service them with conditioner and change the pump oil. Everything else is garbage. You can have a great Honda engine and a crap pump and it won't last.
Dan ... that probably cracked from water that was left in the pump freezing. It can be repaired ... if you want it fixed, you can send it to me and I’ll have it TIG’D ... it should be a pretty simple fix, and you could use it as a spare.
Lol we don’t freeze here!! I think the way the housing is designed and it being unprotected from the ground, trailer and hands it was cracked due to it getting bent.

You replaced that pump really fast. If that was me, I would have still been at it since April 28!

Thanks for the great video Dan !
Thank you Tim
Always enjoy you videos. Very informative When replacing oil in pressure washer pump or air compressor, should you be using non detergent oil?
Hi, what do you recommended for commercial use the RB200, 400 or 800
Thanks for the video, looks like an easy fix.
You bet
Love the corona remark lol great video Dan.

Do you know where can I find a seal kit for the pump?? I check in a couple of sthil dealers here where I live without sucess.

I can’t get my pump off. Same exact model. Any help? I think it may be seized.
Any thoughts on pump lubricant for storage...?
Pumps already have lubricant in them. SAE 30 I believe
@@DansVlog I would think thats for the motor only....?

Sounds like the ball is missing or jammed. Take it apart and investigate
@@DansVlog It's was a bad rubber O- ring! Thanks for the video you did a great tutorial on the "STIHL RB-200" pressure washer. It help me out a lot!

Used? Maybe the relief valve is stuck half way but more than likely the plunger seals aren’t very good

Dan's Vlog oh ok. Thanks for your opinion Dan.
You’re welcome. Stihl put their stickers on a Kohler engine with a cheap multi-use pump
Won't that black tube be called a thermo unloader valve?
I think so, that’s why temp came to mind but I am not 100% sure why or how it works
When your pump heats up it lets the hot water out and cool water replaced it so you don't burn up the pump
Can i put cat pump oil in this pump? also where is the drain plug for the oil for the pump?
