What a coach this guy is going to be when he finally come's to the realisation that he's done. I know it's sad and a lot of fighters have to come to terms with it, I guess Jens is forever a fighter its in his mind, heart and soul. Respect Jens hope you're well.
At 6.34 he talks about wrestling as a pause in punching to confuse if you have seen experienced street fighters like football fan firms fighting that is what you see, excellent & realistic. Boxing plus Jujitsu plus Greco-Roman plus Mauythia = Pankration MMA is bringing martial arts back to the original Roman martial art. One of the best vids on MMA I have seen 5 stars.
Thanks Jens I'd love to come to the states and be a training partner for dirty boxing in your next fight. I have 7 amateur tiles and am about your weight. Let me know if you need someone to beat up on. Regards Darren.
I met Jens in Vegas last year. (By 'met' I mean I recognized him coming into the Hard Rock as I was leaving). I told him I thought he was a class act. He seemed like a really nice guy.
Lol this is the first tutorial video I've ever seen with a live band. But any way I like the ideal of dirty boxing which is what brought me to this video, and hopefully I can take away some of the things he said, and put it within my style of fighting.
These videos are really old! I have the Dan Henderson on vhs. I know Frank Shamrock put one out also. I think there were 4 or 5 fighters that made the Learn to fight and win series.
At the professional level there is not too much difference in terms of skill between one fighter and another, its the fighter with the right mindset and adaptability who wins, plus luck is always a factor.
But most fans including Joe Rogan say mma is "Fighting" when its clearly not. In a real fight the only rule is there are no rules. UFC has too many rules, in the early days, yes that was fighting but it it is not anymore. MMA is NOT real fighting, it is however the closest we have to actual fighting. I enjoy it
but in mma rounds. it last 5 mins. thats in the ufc . in prideFC it last 10 min. thats almost two rounds in boxing which last only 3 minutes and when you think about it mma fighters have better conditiioning coz they just dont bob and weave like boxers do. they sprawl ,clinch, throw and do takedowns which require lots and lots of energy compared to bobbing and weaving .not to mention their stance . they have wider stances which require more energy to move from that type of stance.
@Kiddmizfit man ive been saying the exact same thing since i started watching mma. i watch boxing as well i like watching it all seperate and all together. glad at least 52 people in this world understand this
true. boxers are definitly quick and heavy handed but thats it. no knowledge of the thai clinch, singles and doubles, kicks, elbows, and of course jits.
@Kiddmizfit dude here's an another good analogy. boxer vs an mma fighter is like a Tiger vs a Shark. If the tiger goes into the ocean to fight the shark, the Tiger drowns, if the Shark comes on land to fight the tiger, the Shark dies. It depends on who can make the fight their fight. I sparred with my mma buddy, if he took me down, I lost easy, but when I stayed away and jabed, and hooked straight up he got beat bad, knocked him down twice.
@Kiddmizfit Well it's not a debate on whose the better tech on striking it is who will win and MMA of course will always win. Boxers will always have more crisp striking but if they came to strike in MMA it wouldn't work with the difference in stance
@Lyingaboutmyage wrong again. My friend tried that. The trick is just to sorta of clinch him back and bring you so close that he can get the proper distance or leverage to get you. ANd I also hooked him back and liver punched him. He got hurt, but I wasnt unbruised either
@Lyingaboutmyage and yeah, true MMA fighters beat boxers in the octagon, but in the ring and MMA guy is bait to a boxer. Yes, sports and street fights are different. But hey lots of boxers are people have expereince street fighting. Jack Dempsey fought in saloons when he was 15. and Roberto Druan grew up in the streets of Panama, and was once assaulted at age 13 by 6 adults. He knocked out 5 of them, when the 6th stabbed him and ran. Duran actually says he's a better street figher than a boxer
@go4hydro I guess a bare knuckle fight would be acceptable, I have seen those. But watch any ufc fight, one knee or kick to the groin and they are down like a pancake
I really like bj penn when hes not talking about a fight... like if he's just going through techniques or talking about past fights. I think hes one of those guys that cant like a guy hes guna fight otherwise he wont fight him well lol
Hold up, I have taken Brazilian jiu jitsu and did Boxing in 6th grade. Remember what Royce gracie's dad said. "UFC doesnt have the best fighter in the world, they have the best fighter under the rules of their organization, not the best FIGHTER." You cant knee to the groin/kick, eye gouge, and head butt. Head butting is great while used on the ground. Someone like lee murray would prolly fuck up anyone on the street in a REAL fight
honestly tho...like look how nervous couture was to get hit by toney...he actually pulled out a low single which bascially no one uses in mma....thats how worried he was of being caught woitha punch...so lets say these two men didnt know anything about each other and they had a confrontation on the street...if couture stood with toney for any amount of time hed be ko'ed.. point is if mma guy doesnt know to imedialtly do a td then he could be in big trouble....neither style would win all the time
umm i might get into to mma now being i come from a boxers wrestlers background because as pulver said he realized dirty boxing became legal in mma so as i watch an offensive tactic towards pulvers attempt at a takedown i instictivly threw a forearm chi elbow swinging downwards at the same time protecting all exposed areas of my exposed sweet spots pulver can attack from his angle very scary for the opponent recieving this shot im throwing it almost feels as if i would instantly cause death kos
hahahahahaha....do my research thats funny, my point was just stating that mma fighters punching sucks, i boxed for two years and ive been doin mma since jan and im sticking with it ,so its not a bias opinion
@Lyingaboutmyage they foucs on MANY. Thet's well rounded, but there is no specialiation. so t the many skills are at best second rate, or at worst downright mediocre. Boxing however is more uniform and focuses on a very select basic skills. And also remmeber boxing is actually closer to streetfights than MMA if you look at the histroy like the champs Gentlemin Jim and John L Sullivan. But this is all my personal experiences from what I've learned and what I've personally expereimented with.
@Tsaunders1307 you realize you cant do any of that in mma... mma is just like ufc but ufc they are just more popular... and they have a cage not a ring
in mma rules an mma fighter would win. a full 100% against a boxer. a boxer fighting an mma fighter would have the advantage but it doesnt guarantee a win coz mma fighters do also know how to box. in fact mma fighters have more power, maybe not more speed but almost as fast as a boxer and an mma fighter has better leg movement.
Who came up with his bit??! 😂😂😂😂 to have live band, playing while a professional fighter trys to explain something very serious and technical if not done right can get you fucked up 😂😂😂
@executioner67 yeah man i love mma and train mma but theres too many wannabe mma boxers out there that before they realise that they should be taking the boxer down theyl be getting ko'ed ! im talking about on the street of course :)! but yeah mma does own legit boxers!
@Lyingaboutmyage Well I admit MMA guys are good. But they have the WORST balance I have seen. My bud was pretty damn good though. If it were no holds barr, the MMA fighter isnt as invincible as you would think. Several times I could've rabbit punched my friend in the back of the head. But in a ruled sport contest MMA has the advantage. But to be fair, I wrestled in high school and knew how to sprawl. It really depends I think a lot of it depends on the skill. MMA guys dont focus on one skill
isn't getting into a clinch the last thing/worst thing you can do? Training to get tangled up puts you in the position to get wrapped up in a ground fight. Not to smart if your opponent is bigger or faster or has buddies around that you weren't aware of. fight from the inside (close combat) by all means but don't train to get tangled up. in a street fight your just looking to get slammed.
+hooptywes Dirty boxing is mostly a rythem and best estimates game. If you are ahead on the rythem and the enemy is following to your song then you really can do this stuff.
Well, if you look at it like you are..as in , this is the only tool you have and only way you can win, then you'll only pull it off with a bum. But as part of a larger game plan , its just more tools to add to your attack. Just like wrestling or boxing...lots of it isn't rocket science and there are no quick fix always work all the time moves, but you drill them over and over until it starts to work. Then when you have 10 different things you can pull off quite well, and transition through them as they work or fail, that's when you have a more complete fighter.
in boxe there is no such thing as take down, teach him mma techniques as well and them send them to fight by mma rules would the boxer really loose??? fighting with your fist is very dificult if you have to worry about getting you down with submission, you can agree that right now the techniques that most fighter use are boxe punches to fight and muaythai kicks to fight stand up and submission to fight in the ground, now put a mma fighter to fight box and see what happens.
Haha, I love the band playing in the background while they are practicing. It's makes it way more fun to watch
Pulver is such a nice guy. Met him about a year ago at the airport.
Randy Couture is a a great clinch fighter.Jens doing a good job of explaining the basics.
The band makes it original and more fun to watch :)
Jens is really explaining the "why" behind dirty boxing really well.
What a coach this guy is going to be when he finally come's to the realisation that he's done. I know it's sad and a lot of fighters have to come to terms with it, I guess Jens is forever a fighter its in his mind, heart and soul. Respect Jens hope you're well.

awesome band at the back haha
Jens is the man!!!!
~ Very good. An excellent instructor. ~
Legend.
Jens is an awesome guy, met him last weekend
Thanks Jens I'd love to come to the states and be a training partner for dirty boxing in your next fight. I have 7 amateur tiles and am about your weight. Let me know if you need someone to beat up on.
Regards Darren.

Esto si es efectivo exelente video.
gracias
Jens is a former world champ MMA fighter (UFC/WEC) and yeah he would wreck your world so badly your momma wouldn't even love you anymore.
good tips ..

isnt that the guy who got knocked out by anderson silvas crazy elbow?
but in mma rounds. it last 5 mins. thats in the ufc . in prideFC it last 10 min. thats almost two rounds in boxing which last only 3 minutes and when you think about it mma fighters have better conditiioning coz they just dont bob and weave like boxers do. they sprawl ,clinch, throw and do takedowns which require lots and lots of energy compared to bobbing and weaving .not to mention their stance . they have wider stances which require more energy to move from that type of stance.
@Kiddmizfit Good point. Good analogy. However, it fails to consider the law of diminishing returns.
@Kiddmizfit man ive been saying the exact same thing since i started watching mma. i watch boxing as well i like watching it all seperate and all together. glad at least 52 people in this world understand this
nice
lol yep it is, thats fryklund, he versed silva in a cage rage and recieved that wicked elbow....man i might go search for that vid right now.
Sometimes you have to bite down, tuck your chin and go in swinging, that's true for all of life
where the term originated
have you seen mi familia, it's pretty bad ass movie too
true. boxers are definitly quick and heavy handed but thats it. no knowledge of the thai clinch, singles and doubles, kicks, elbows, and of course jits.

I LOVE DIRTY BOXIIG !!! I, USE IT IN MY (JEET KUNE DO , R.A.T. CLINCH ) !!! PFS JKD UNDER (SI-GUNG) PAUL VUNAK !!! (SIFU) MARCUS SPEARS
@Kiddmizfit Well it's not a debate on whose the better tech on striking it is who will win and MMA of course will always win. Boxers will always have more crisp striking but if they came to strike in MMA it wouldn't work with the difference in stance
is the other guy tito?
Tito Orpls
Tony Fryklund
@Lyingaboutmyage wrong again. My friend tried that. The trick is just to sorta of clinch him back and bring you so close that he can get the proper distance or leverage to get you. ANd I also hooked him back and liver punched him. He got hurt, but I wasnt unbruised either
@jagexisthedevil you also forgot Randy Couture-- he's another fighter that's notorous for using the Dirty Boxing to his advantage in the cage. :)
@Kiddmizfit Great analogy.
I think the whole mma vs boxing issue is just stupid, like comparing golf to cricket - totally different/
@Lyingaboutmyage and yeah, true MMA fighters beat boxers in the octagon, but in the ring and MMA guy is bait to a boxer. Yes, sports and street fights are different. But hey lots of boxers are people have expereince street fighting. Did he purposely try to get someone who kinda look like Tito Ortis from behind to make this video clip with him?
@go4hydro
I guess a bare knuckle fight would be acceptable, I have seen those. But watch any ufc fight, one knee or kick to the groin and they are down like a pancake
lol i know but i was watching deadliest warriors and it was funny that the shaolin said that as a comeback
I really like bj penn when hes not talking about a fight... like if he's just going through techniques or talking about past fights. I think hes one of those guys that cant like a guy hes guna fight otherwise he wont fight him well lol
lol they look like their dancing
this rockband thing in the backround... like... that sucks.. what is the point of that?
WAR LIL EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That shit works on the street fo sho
honestly tho...like look how nervous couture was to get hit by toney...he actually pulled out a low single which bascially no one uses in mma....thats how worried he was of being caught woitha punch...so lets say these two men didnt know anything about each other and they had a confrontation on the street...if couture stood with toney for any amount of time hed be ko'ed.. point is if mma guy doesnt know to imedialtly do a td then he could be in big trouble....neither style would win all the time
@linkerdrich True dat.
Yeah MMA techniks ^^ UFC! UCF! UFC!
umm i might get into to mma now being i come from a boxers wrestlers background because as pulver said he realized dirty boxing became legal in mma so as i watch an offensive tactic towards pulvers attempt at a takedown i instictivly threw a forearm chi elbow swinging downwards at the same time protecting all exposed areas of my exposed sweet spots pulver can attack from his angle very scary for the opponent recieving this shot im throwing it almost feels as if i would instantly cause death kos
dru713281 you make it to ufc?
sounds like my elementary school band lmao
hahahahahaha....do my research thats funny,
my point was just stating that mma fighters punching sucks, i boxed for two years and ive been doin mma since jan and im sticking with it ,so its not a bias opinion
hahahahah @ j124life ..talking about the sparring partner lookin like tito ortiz
@TruNikkaz No you're on dude MMA will always win no ground game vs ground if all you are good at is standing I will sweep you and done deal
@Lyingaboutmyage they foucs on MANY. Thet's well rounded, but there is no specialiation. so t the many skills are at best second rate, or at worst downright mediocre. 6:50 he made that shit look 2 easy.
This guy reminds me of a character from Idiocracy
Unless, you know, know the first thing about wrestling and positioning your head...
Who came up with his bit??! 😂😂😂😂 to have live band, playing while a professional fighter trys to explain something very serious and technical if not done right can get you fucked up 😂😂😂
But can it touch a shaolin?...
What is being taught But this has nothing to do with dirty boxing
LMAO AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA i wish my mother did that :(
Yes. Shaolins are not as tough as they seem
@executioner67 yeah man i love mma and train mma but theres too many wannabe mma boxers out there that before they realise that they should be taking the boxer down theyl be getting ko'ed ! im talking about on the street of course :)! but yeah mma does own legit boxers!
mma's version of boxing isnt boxing
This was made about 10 years ago. LOL on the band. What a fail
Your Jens wife arnt you? The band could be good if they had a decent guitarist, though. It was worth a shot.
well theband sucks bu jens is fantastic
Too bad MMA isnt REAL fighting
tito ortiz? hahhaa
2nd that Jens is nasty, man
nope
@Lyingaboutmyage Well I admit MMA guys are good. But they have the WORST balance I have seen. My bud was pretty damn good though. the band's music doesn't fit this vid.. i think it's better to put some more chaotic band rather than this one.
isn't getting into a clinch the last thing/worst thing you can do? Training to get tangled up puts you in the position to get wrapped up in a ground fight. pretty ill
live band!! who's stupid idea? i stopped watching at that point.
get rid of that crappy live band
Jens a good fighter, but the band sucks !!!!
diarrhea of the mouth when he teaches... good stuff though!
stop dribbling and get on with it!!!!!
THAT BAND SUCKS, OH MY GOD
this should be titled, "how to win an mma fight against somebody who knows nothing about mma" lol
+hooptywes Dirty boxing is mostly a rythem and best estimates game. If you are ahead on the rythem and the enemy is following to your song then you really can do this stuff.
