Fire bender? Water bender? No thanks, I'll take a Hellbender!
"Snot otters"... because they's'not otters? (he said with a thick drawl)
With a name like Hellbenders, you'd expect them to be badass.
Mr X are they not
They're called Snot Otters because they're not Otters, get it? I thought it was an Otter but it's snot.
I was like, "where is this kid going with this?" Then I fell off my chair laughing.
SAD. My grandfather found one of these all the way up in the southern rivers of N.Y. state... slightly pushing the envelope of their known range at the time. It was HUGE. Filled the bottom of a bucket, head past its own tail. He let it go after showing us little kids. That was in the 1970's. I noticed lots of animals are not as common anymore, but others take their place as the land changes. Old abandoned fields were an entomologists dream when I was young, filled with insects and huge Argiope spiders, an much more. Spruce and ash trees have moved in, and now white tail deer, rodents and weasels are more common. In the case of the hellbender, however, the rivers and lakes have only changed from our pollution. That shouldn't be happening. It's outrageously illogical for industries to know about it and continue, knowing they have to live in this world. Don't they know they are painting themselves into a corner? So short-sighted... it's a nightmare come true.
it looks like a cat fish , indeed ; but it has 4 legs as crocodile's legs ;
Fascinating! Thank you for sharing!
Now we just need someone to get a pet Japanese Giant Salamander
They been farming Chinese giant salamanders. Look it up
Great video and information
why must all cryptobranchidae be in decline :(
Like firebenders, but fire-ier
that is the most metal name for an animal i have ever heard
what a unique creature.
Very strange and interesting creature:)
Super cute.
It makes me want to find one so bad
I WANT ONE!
Nice
It's a freak of nature! lol
anyone notice the poor animal is trying to get free and the walls are in it's way. All day doing that and you will go nuts
Hmmm...interesting
You hear the word hellbender which is an animal, you think of a badass killer beast with spikes huge fangs and claws, etc. But no, the scientists who discovered this was like fuck it and gave the name to an adorable underwater meat stick of a creature which is just as wrinkly as my grandma. woop de fukin do.
>Meat Stick lmao
I have never found a salamander in clear water. Always in muddy ponds and streams or under logs and rocks.
I found a whole lot of salamanders (and their eggs) under a house.
***** Our Class Is Studying MealWorms
We Have 3 Beetles now
mysterious fish , indeed ! I have never seen it before .
Merry Christmas !
that's because it isn't a fish
Hellbenders aren't fish; salamanders are amphibians.
its not a fish. its an amphibian dragon. its like a dragon but its amphibian.
***** it's not a snake, it's a hellbender
it's not a catadogasaurusrex, it's tadpolezilla
PSYCHICPEBBLES, ANYONE?
He was struggling with the shrimp.
He is wc? he has a set pattern action
Anyone knows that they make noise?
Unorganic compounds found in its environment possibly
I hope we are at the very least captive breeding these animals.
Gecko in the water
Jeremy Webb as cool as the axolatl?
Not with a name like "snot otter" - to be fair, I'll wait for the snot otter song before passing final judgement!
These things probably have been on the brink of extinction many times before, but they've always survived. I'm sure they'll still be around after man is gone.
What a terribly ignorant thing to say! Thanks for sharing!
Yep yep yep I'm the dummy here
TheQueenSpider
yeah you are. so we continue to pollute cause they survived before......
How does that make since
i like Hellbenders too
chriz and sack
So why do we care about a snot otter? I have never heard of anyone entering a animal store and saying dang you are out of hellbender snot otters.
aw it's so cute but not as cute as millis
these tanks are too small
Snot otters? OMG someone actually came up with a name even worse - and a lot more disgusting - than hellbender.
Stop calling them snot otters ! They are called HELLBENDERS.
We are the worst. I cast that judgment yet I drive a car and my giant house has two heat pumps cranking all day. I’m the problem. I know. However I simply can’t grab a spear and waltz back into the woods. What’s the answer?
Make a small change that you can commit to. Then another. And another.
Pretty soon, all the little changes add up. It's not always about giving everything up all at once :-)
Im a salamander lol
They can be caught at the rate of one every five minutes in the allegany on my property. They are very proliferate in this watershed showing no decline of the species. Based on my direct observations I strongly disagree with a portion of your statements.
The average length has been 25".
t say this on i didn't do it
Its called evolution of this world. Cant save everything.
Throw these into the pet trade, and like axolotls, they will be safe forever.
You want to save something that looks like this?........looks like a terd. I rather save my money then give it for something that might be harmful and toxic. And I like animals but not swamp thing.
There are only 20 or10 of them left in the world
Jaedon Piatt Nonsense. In streams and rivers where they exist, it's estimated that there are over 400 salamanders per kilometer. They are threatened by population decline but there are still many thousands of them out there.
fuck you ☺
+Jeremy Smith What makes you think it's toxic?
