Thank you so much for being so thorough talking through this deck. It is my first, by chance and a long time wondering about tarot. Yours is the only video I could find that explained John Bauer so well! Much appreciated 😊
I came back to watch this again as I have finally ordered this deck. I adore your walk throughs, I wish I could just have you sitting with me all the time. You're like a total tarot guru 😅 Thank-you xxx
@@TheTruthinStory I am really loving it. I'm so glad I finally have it. Just making a new journal all pretty so I can start working with it. Thank-you again fir the fab vids. And I love them long by the way xXx
I know this video is almost a year old, but I wanted to let you know you're correct about the 5 of cups. The man in that painting is Sjökungen, or the Sea King, and he's also who's shown on the 8 of cups. Like almost every illustration in the deck, that one is taken from a storybook. This one is Agneta and the Sea King, and it is incredibly heartbreaking. I'm coming into this deck as a Swede who loves John Bauer, and I can honestly say knowing the stories makes this deck blow me away. The images don't just work visually - they work with the actual narratives of the stories each one is from. Edit: Commented too soon!! You're also correct on the queen of cups, that's another illustration from the same story!
I've just discovered and have got this deck and can't thank you enough for your wonderful and inspiring walkthrough talkthrough all this time ago (5 years now!) 👏👏❤🌲
Your walk through, as always, was such a pleasure to watch and learn from. I only got my first tarot deck last year (Shadowscapes) and now, due to this video, I have now ordered my second deck! Such beautiful artwork and all that you said about it deeply resonated with me. Thank you for sharing.
This deck just arrived in my collection today. My ancestry includes Scandinavian heritage so I was very drawn to the art and who doesnt love the world of myth and forest that John Bauer art evokes? You really heloed me understand and bond with this deck. Thanks!
Thank you for your interpretations and stories with this deck! I just ordered this one, thanks to you, because I love Rackham as well. The tales and mythology that can emerge from these images is truly amazing! Have you ever considered writing your own book to accompany this deck?!
I just love watching your thoughts and takes on the cards you show us. I agree with Kelly Bear. You are very sweet and i love how you explain what you are thinking. Thank you very much. Another deck i must have . It is beautiful.
I'm so glad you did this review because I would never have imagined what it was like! It has such wonderful imagery, fairy-tale like but much deeper. I'll be able to connect to a lot of different stories with this deck ☺
:D hello hello! It is pretty cool, I wish I had talked to my grandmother more about Sweden, we have a lot of active relatives in Sweden on Ancestry.com so it is really great as that side of the family tree is very filled in!
@@TheTruthinStory Wow, how does that work? Can you contact these relatives? I would love to search for my family history. All I know is that we have viking blood cause we have the viking sickness in our family, but it would be so cool to find out more =)
@@TheTruthinStory I'm from Italy, I live in Bologna. I found you for a kind of synchronicity. The wild unknown is my very first and unique deck. When I sow it, about 4 months ago I started dealing with tarot, 'couse I fell in love with it. As you told us about this deck, about your story with it, I think this is a very particularly spiritual and deep emotional deck. This deck moves people from inside. XXX yours Carlotta. Hope my English will be not too much full of mistakes for you to understand.
Was looking forwards so much for your review of The John Bauer Tarot! Especially enjoyed the combined use of it with Aesop's fables, which was so rich in its wisdom. Was lovely to hear your review thanks for sharing. Great to have a guide book that references the imagery a big thumbs up from me. 🍀🌲🍀
I'm so glad you enjoyed it and I agree I love it with Aesop's Fables and am SO glad that despite it being small, the guidebook does actually point you off into the woods :D
Chariot is also my birth card, and I always look for it in every tarot deck that I'm about to buy. If the chariot doesn't fix with me, then maybe that would not be on my wish list... LOL.
I love John Bauer and I think this deck is SO stunning. That Two of Pentacles, though, is such a shame. The original John Bauer image this was taken from very distinctly has THREE cloaked figures, not two. (Actually, I just realised I even have that part of the painting as my profile image here!) It's one of my favourite Bauer images ever so there's a personal reason I can't stand that they cropped it but also I really think taking away the third figure changes the meaning of the entire painting. I'm so sad because I really want to love this deck! :( I guess I'll have to let this percolate over time and see what I think down the road...
Like, for those who want to look into it, if you even just search "John Bauer" and "Golden Key" (which is part of the title of the original) you'll find enough results to give you an idea of what I mean.
I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU MADE A TAROT CARDS FOR "JOHN BAUER", who is no other than US MAKARA JOHNNY FITGERALD KENEDY. By the way Tarot in Latin means PROJECTION or PROPHESY. As I perceived the cards it has two distinguishing Marks either GOOD or EVIL. Also, SUCCESS or FAILURE with strong vibe of either to LIVE or DIE. That is not a thing to play.
Thank you so much for being so thorough talking through this deck. It is my first, by chance and a long time wondering about tarot. Yours is the only video I could find that explained John Bauer so well! Much appreciated 😊
Never apologise for your long videos. Hearing your perspective on the cards is why I watch. Your opinions and insights are valuable to me.
Thank you, Kelly, I need to work on apologizing in 2019 :D It's a life long struggle!
I totally agree Kelly :-)

Yes! This is the walkthrough I was waiting for, what a beautiful deck and I love your insight on the cards.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, it was a treat to walk through it and see cards that haven't shown up yet for me!
How fascinating the way you describe this deck, plus the beautiful images.... I gotta have it!
Great review. I matched the cards/paintings with some of the stories and that added another layer.
Ohhh very nice, I haven't gone there yet but I'm going to pick up one of his books and see what I can match up!
As usual, your perceptions are so incredibly unique and insightful! Thank you. 🌼
Just bought this because of your video, and I am absolutely in love with this deck! Thank you!
It truly is one of my top favorite decks, I just adore it!
After watching your fable videos, I purchased the deck. Love it. Touching and thought provoking. Enjoyed seeing your take on the cards. Thx.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it and I agree, it really does ask you to stretch your mind a bit and wander off the beaten path!

I love this deck too. I have a soft spot for narrative tarot and the 'old tales'. I would enjoy my Rackham oracle more if it were clearer.
what a magical deck, thank you for reviewing this deck
It is, it is at the top of my favorite list! I love it!

Was that Hermit card Sankta Lucia? Kinda cool!

I have tiny hands, so small decks are my favorite :)
It definitely helps, doesn't it!?
ALL THE HORSES ARE SPECTACULAR
AGREED :D :D
STILL WATCHING< ALREADY BOUGHT IT during your walk through. :-) NICE 8 OF CUPS...
