I was 9 years old when we lost this match. I was devastated and I couldn't stop crying. After that we had years and years of disappointment. And now we have won 3 premierships in 4 years. Forever proud to be a Tiger.
@MUFC yeh but that does not change the fact that the red devils are a garbage side and are just a shadow of their past. 2060 is probably the next time they will come close to winning a premiership
The gates had to be opened to let in the thousands crammed outside trying to get in during the first quarter. People were climbing fences to get in. The actual crowd was far greater than the official crowd figure. All the seats were taken so people sat in the aisles and filled walkways, even the ambulance race was full of people. It was an amazing atmosphere that night.
We never got in and went home and watched the second half on tv. We were stuck on the freeway trying to get in. So I haven't ever seen the whole game. Thanks for the upload
Same here! My dad and I were stuck in traffic on Wellington Road, roads were backed up so far we never even got close to the ground. We gave up and went home. Watched most of the game on TV, was kind of glad we never made it in when we lost.
Agree with U 100% . An Absolute Disgrace & Waste by the VFL / AFL Waverley if it had been completed would have held 120,000 + people. The Parking ect could have been sorted out. When Ch 9 got the Footy Rights l really believe that Packer should have purchased Waverley Park ..
Unfortunately, it's a bit redundant nowadays as most H&A season games are played under lights. Only 2-3 each week are played in a genuine afternoon time slot.
AFFTL not really this was the record for a pre season final a lot of pre season finals before 93 weren't that big. it was just that Richmond was there in 93 and it was their first final in anything for 10 years
David Trezise I wasn't talking about attendance, I was talking about how serious the players took it. And in the 80's when it was a national competition between the state leagues, it was real serious.
AFFTL I don't know what it was like in the 80s I didn't start following footy till the late 80s early 90s. but my comment that I made was not meant to be taken seriously it was just a dog at Richmond

Where do you find these videos in 720p?
It’s just the way I save the file, it’s slightly better than 480, although a good quality 480 is often better 👍🏻
Why, oh why, did these games ever mean anything?
prize money which is why the struggling clubs tried so hard
the crowd was 75,000 NOT 90,000 to be honest
@@BP-rn3nl bullshit it was 75,000 precisely
I wonder what the game would look like if the Night Series returned in 2021

@@HarrynJessie true that
they would do some nonsense like AFLX
Only time I’ve heard umpires mic’d up prior to ‘02
1989 VFA Grand Final - Coburg v Willy
1996 Ansett Australia Cup Grand Final too!
@26:03 that baby would be in their 30s now.
so true. amazing how time flies
big crowd for a nab cup final but it is the closest thing to a Grand Final for Richmond
David Trezise It was taken more serious back then.
